As many of you probably know by now, mac and cheese is my all time favourite. I saw that they had it as a side dish for $2 so had to try it. I wasn't really feeling a sandwich (though the pulled pork looked really good), so I opted for the pulled pork nachos. They nachos were $8 and a pop was $1. When I ordered, the guy who took my order said "why don't we make it a combo" and only charged me $10. I love when places do that! Anyway, the nachos were perfectly cheesy, and were topped with sour cream and pico de gallo (one of my fave things in the world). It was fresh and home made. The absolute best was the pulled pork. It was so deliciously juicy and was coated with a tangy BBQ sauce - not too saucy though! I would get this again for sure. The mac and cheese was just as good. They use the spiral noodles which are always fun. It's not too too cheesy, but has some good herbs and spices that make up for it. It has a bit of a kick too. Just a slight bit of heat. I would have liked a bit more, but I'm not going to lie, with the mac and cheese and nachos I was stuffed and had to bring some more. And yes, it was just as good heated up later. I've been in Hamilton for work this past week too and have walked by Jackson Square everyday hoping the food truck would be there. Sometimes driving 20-30 minutes out of my way to grab a bite. The Mr Blonde is my favourite. But the peachy blonde and the one with the chorizo are awesome too. When you order at the cash, they bring it out to your car if you're taking it home to eat. They've got two standup tables inside and 3 more outside. Fries were crispy, filling and delicious. I recommend tempting Toronto friends with the promise of fried dough - you can usually get them out this way. The first few times we used this tactic, things didn't work out and we didn't make it. However today was that day - we finally made it here for a very late 3pm lunch! You might think BeaverTails is dessert only but there is a savoury side of things in the form of poutine and the BeaverDog! Both very Canadian. Both are pretty good. My friend described the poutine as similar to the Costco one but with way crispier fries. The BeaverDog is a hot dog wrapped in a BeaverTails pastry. You have the option of getting cheese curds inside of the BeaverDog too - definitely recommend this. I finished my meal off with a classic cinnamon and sugar BeaverTail. Depending on how they deep fry it, the tail can develop huge crispy bubbles in the middle (kind of like you'd see on a potato chip) or they're a bit denser offering a different texture and more chewy dough. So good!

I remember a lot of southern comfort foods and vegan/vegetarian items for my niece's friend, Joi. Which she wasn't. Jk. We had a bit of a wait due to time of day and it being a smaller restaurant. The staff were all very friendly and I recall our server being quite attentive. My niece had a brisket hoagie. A great sandwich once you get past the pickled onion. We really enjoyed their fried chicken/mac n cheese concoction and an outstanding loaded poutine. All in all the food was very good, proportionate and reasonably priced (esp after the exchange rate).
