West Hill B&B is the BEST! We stayed for three nights over the weekend of the Mad River Marathon…read more We weren't running it (originally I was competing in a Highland Games at Sugarbush but it was cacelled) but had a great time with all those who were! When you first arrive Peter and Susan give you the tour of both your room and the house. That's when you meet Smoky and Snowball, their beautiful cats. The house and the gardens are expansive and welcoming, as are the hosts. There is a bar with beer and wine and Peter is happy to serve you Scothes and liqueurs from the Craich in the evenings. (Everything is added to your bill at the end so no need for cash.) We stayed in the Garden Room, with its own entrance. It was very comfortable and made up for us every day with a little tidbit of Vermont history laid on the pillows every night. It was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was amazing! Susan is a superb cook and made a three course breakfast every morning that included dessert! You won't go hungry at West Hill! She even made up a huge carb load for the marathoners the night before and an early morning breakfast (5 am!) for the marathon runners. My husband took advantage of the breakfast so he could get off early on a hike. I waited until a civilized hour. The gardens are huge! They own the property on both sides of the road so there are multiple ponds, fountains, gazebos, chairs, and a comfy hammock! They even provided a fire pit and ingredients for S'mores. What fun! We spent one afternoon reading and napping in the gazebo in the upper garden. It was bliss. Pater and Susan are great innkeepers. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and so excited to share their home. We met some wonderful people and they encouraged conversation. It was like a family for those few days. TIPS: The cats do not go in the rooms, however if you are severely allergic you may not want to stay here. Definitely let them know if you have any food preferences or allergies--they are very knowledgeable and accommodating of dietary needs! They are not kidding when they say to let them know if you want reservations at a local restaurant--they will call and make them for you. I can't recommend them highly enough! We are definitely returning.

This house has 8 rooms....my favorite being the Garden Room but all are nice and comfy. Peter and Susan prepare breakfast for the guests and have warm cookies at the end of the day. They also now have a liquor license so no need to drive to et a drink. All in all this is a great place to stay when visiting Warren or Waitsfield.

It's a gorgeous place full of warm creative people who both love and appreciate nature and good living, and I have to say that out of all of the times I've been and the places I've stayed, this has been my absolute favorite. Carin & Luke are amazing hosts. They know a lot about the area and if you're looking for recommendations and suggestions about activities, they can point you in the right direction. Hikes, wineries, resorts, festivals, craft fairs, etc. etc. But if you're looking for a quiet getaway, they're not pushy. There's coffee in the morning and a delicious breakfast and their breathtaking property to take in. Mountains and trees and a large pond that you can swim or boat in. The water is clear and refreshing! The accommodations themselves are modern and cozy, bright and spacious, and the rooms are very comfortable. (It's nice to hop into a nice, modern hot shower with good water pressure after a dip in the pond!) While I'd like to keep this to myself, I know that there are city dwellers who are desperately in need of a rejuvenating vacation, and so this is your place! It's a great place to stay local (swim, hike, read books, play games, etc) or use as a home base to do other things in the area. I've stayed at a hotel in Sugarbush and found this B&B to be much more relaxing. Hosted by locals and away from tourists and kitsch, I truly felt immersed in the Vermont experience here! I will definitely stay here again.

The food was suburb! Lots of farm to table meals, and home cooked baked goods too. The staff went above and beyond creating plates just for me, a vegan, and for our girlfriend who is gluten free. I was treated to specially made vegan enchiladas for Cinco de Mayo, incredible tofu masala, tasty shashuka without the egg, Vermont maple soaked oats, and a memorable pineapple coconut rice pudding. Margaritas and Old Fashions were great, and the Heady Topper was free-flowing! Oh yessss! I loved fact that they use local fan favorite Fox Hollow Apple Cider too! Go for the cran-apple juice! Yum! The wedding was absolutely stunning! The ceremony was on the grass under the pretty arbor. The cocktail hour was on the terrace with passed hors d'oeuvrs, and the reception was in the round barn. Just gorgeous! The coordinator was on top of everything! I mean everything! Rehearsal, to hand-lettering, to fixing the bride's gown. Awesome job! The rooms were so lovely and each had their own personality. Some has a jacuzzi tub, all showers included a seat, which we love, and each room had a fireplace. I couldn't help but imagine how super romantic it would be laying in bed with that fireplace blaring on ones of those frigid, but beautiful snow-filled Vermont nights. Made me want to return late fall and around the holidays! The beds were super comfortable and our bed in "Dana" was a four post elevated, which required stairs. Loved it! We also had lovely views of The Green Mountains from our bed and there was a vaulted ceiling and a loft too. Wine glasses left for us also. We were very happy with Dana as our choice for rooms. No detail was overlooked here. I loved the black embroidered makeup towel for the ladies to use for face washing. The lovely toiletries were nice also. The warming tray for their hand made ceramic mugs...nice touch! The dining area was cozy, as was the game room where we enjoyed games of checkers and diving into one of the many books in the library. The staff were all wonderful and overly accommodating in every way possible. Check in was simple. Checking out even easier. We felt so safe and at home here we didn't even lock our room or use our key. The area is fantastic! It's right near Sugarbush for some skiing. There was even some snow left on the mountain early May! Warren Falls and National Green Mountain Forest is just down the road where the hiking is great, and the moose crossing signs are out! Warren Falls is great for families and has a swimming hole. Moss Glenn just a bit farther is a super impressive waterfall. Woodstock/Queeche, my favorite town in Vermont is just a half hour away and Stowe is about 40 minutes. Lots to do in both! I would absolutely come here again! Everything was pure bliss. The only mishaps which I should mention, but it didn't personally bother me one bit was that the power went out during a pretty bad storm. The rain pounding on that old roof so loudly and passionately....I thought it was super romantic! The staff was very well prepared with lanterns and flashlights, which actually makes me feel this isn't their first rodeo. Just a heads up. Highly, highly recommend for first timers to Vermont, for an iconic New England experience. It's equally as great for old pros who love the outdoors and need to reconnect with nature and/or one another, and for brides! It's definitely not cheap, but if definitely shows. It's a unique and special venue. Perfection.

We piled a dozen people in for a skiing bachelor party, and we really couldn't have found a better place in the area to stay. It's super close to Sugarbush (walkable if you need too) but is remote enough that you can be as raucous as.. a bachelor party. A few pro tips: * Hit Bill up for discount lift tickets * As much as you think the horses want a beer, they don't and * They are horses, not mooses. * Shuffleboard is more fun than you might think * There is a convenient bathroom located next to the refrigerator. * Local Vermont maple syrup goes well with pizza * The porch is not strong enough for a dogpile * JUSTICE * (from Bill) Moosehead is not a beer, it is a misdemeanor That all said, you can have a great time here without wrecking the place. Prepare to have your day begin with a thoughtfully-curated, multi-course selection of delicious food. Breakfast starts off with a fresh scone (the vanilla Fig ones were our favorite) and then a creative fruit plate of sorts, and, finally, the showstopper (puff pancakes with maple bacon, breakfast cubanos to name a few). Starting your day off with these elaborate breakfasts is truly such a treat. The location: Incredible. Tons of restaurants (we loved Peasant), amazing breweries (Lawsons!), scenic hikes (can snowshoe from the property), skiing and more! There is even a farm with pigs / cows/ tractors 2 minutes from the property that our toddler son went absolutely bananas for. The property: Magical. Hard to describe the serenity that the property espouses. It is truly magic. The main Inn is so cozy with a roaring fire every morning and night, amazing guests to chat with and cookies to enjoy by the fire after a long day of skiing / snow-shoeing / drinking beer - whatever floats your boat. There is also an incredible hot tub and cozy robes to take advantage of. The Innkeepers, Mick and Karen: no words can describe how amazing they are. There is a reason why every other review mentions them -- they are warm, caring and make you feel so incredibly welcome in their place. You feel as though you are staying with your family at the most amazing, cozy place you could possibly imagine. It is clear they care deeply about their guests and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They cater to your particular interests/ needs and really do go above and beyond for their guests. Every little touch this place offers makes for a truly incredible experience. To summarize - DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY HERE !!! This place does amazing things to your soul.
