My husband and I stayed here this past weekend for a little getaway. Our room was lovely, the bathroom is pretty much a spa. Hubs also bought the local gift box that's offered on their website, it came with crackers, apple butter, the best smelling incense, honey, and spices. I loved it. Our breakfasts were delicious, again all local ingredients. We sat and had great conversations with the other two guests. And Liese and Miles were so welcoming. Lise and Miles were wonderful hosts. We had such a nice and relaxing weekend visiting our friends who just moved from Iowa to Middlebury, VT. I stumbled across this B&B when I couldn't find any other open places due to a large triathlon happening in the area and I couldn't be more pleased with this little gem! Miles is an excellent cook who will help make sure any dietary restrictions are met. They do their best to source as much ingredients locally as possible. Both have wonderful recommendations on the area if, like us, you are new to Middlebury and visiting friends who just moved to town a week ago. The rooms are absolutely adorable and you can tell they took great time and effort into designing and curating the B&B with attention and detail. Where to even begin with Cornwall Orchards? Miles and Lise, obviously! In getting to know these two wonderful people for just the weekend, my guess is that there is no one more suited to running a B&B in Vermont. They are gracious hosts--providing hospitality in a thoughtful and charming way. They are knowledgeable about the local area (and many other topics), AND they cook a gorgeous, locally-sourced breakfast. They even made special egg-free dishes and cookies for me. What a treat! The Cornwall Orchards grounds are well-worth exploring especially if you like gardening, ecology, and permaculture practices. The house itself brims over with history and books--it's delightful. I could really feel the care that went into making this place a special retreat. Thank you both so much for going above and beyond for us. Our trip to explore the Middlebury area wouldn't have been nearly as well-rounded and insightful if it weren't for you. We loved staying with Lise and Miles for my 40th birthday trip. They were very helpful with suggestions of things to do in the local area and even offering to call people they knew to arrange things for us. The room was clean and spacious with its own thermostat, and the bathroom was the biggest one between the 3 places we stayed on our trip! I would definitely go back and stay with them again. In one sentence 'We did not stay in B&B'. Instead, we stayed at an extended family's home. Lise and Miles, are not your typical hosts. They take pride and they enjoy hosting guests. Thus, felt very different from the time we reached their home. Great food for break fast and very nice back yard with acres of land for walk/hike. Close to middlebury downtown and college. I stayed with some friends for a weekend vacation and this B&B is amazing. The house is rustic, cozy and breakfasts have been outstanding. Their waffles are some of the best I've ever had! Its right down the road from Middlebury College and within an hour from Sugarbush for skiing. Lise and Miles (the innkeepers) are the sweetest people. They really are foodies and also appreciate green initiatives in the way they maintain the home. They're so accommodating and the home overall is very quaint, quiet and relaxing. Our 4th visit and #5 in a few months. We would not stay anywhere else in the Champlain Valley area. Middlebury is a lovely quintessential VT experience a great town. The comfort and welcome are outstanding and the breakfast is excellent. The hosts are lovely and full of suggestions and ideas to enhance your visit to the area. Three things made our stay at Cornwall Orchard with Lise and Miles superb. 1. Lise and Miles were the consummate hosts. From the moment they so warmly answered their door, to the late night invitation for delicious homemade pie, to the engaging breakfast conversation, we felt like part of the family. 2. Lise and Miles' property was breathtaking. With greenery as far as the eye can see, sprinkled with patches of blueberry and raspberry bushes, we were in an oasis away from our "connected" and stressful lives. 3. Lise and Miles' intentional design of the guest rooms made us feel right at home. Thoughtful touches included cozy bath robes, organic and local bath supplies, and a personally curated guide to local hot spots. What a great place to stay near Middlebury. A renovated old farm house that still keeps the charm of the turn of the century, but has modern conveniences with each room being very private and equipped with its own bathroom. The hosts, Bob and Juliet are quite welcoming, very nice, great to talk to, and make you feel right at home. There is always a warm roaring fire in the fireplace in the evening and a delicious breakfast every morning. read more

This place is amazing!! I went up with my wife and some friends and can't imagine a scenario this place isn't perfect. It worked well with a big group but would also be great just as a couple as it's very easy to retreat to your own room and get some privacy. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the hosts were more than happy to walk us around. We skated on the frozen pond and saw a bunch of beaver activity. The house was always cozy and warm. At an Airbnb you feel like you're still in someone else's home, but here they make you feel like you're visiting an old friend. We were easily able to utilize their place as our home base to go skiing. Coming back to a nice cozy fire and home cooked food felt great! Also close to downtown Cornwall which was a super cute little town. Hands down will do this again the next time I'm even semi in the area! read more

Wonderful place and hosts. Lise and Miles are warm and welcoming, and their B&B is outstanding. Peaceful and beautiful, spacious and yet cozy feeling. As others have mentioned, the breakfasts are amazing: a different offering each day--we loved both of the breakfasts we had. The rooms are quiet and comfortable, and there are also lovely gathering places if you want to sit and have a drink, read the paper, or chat -- in the living, dining room, or back deck overlooking the meadow (which is also nice for a wander). We loved Lise and Mile's commitment to sustainability, and also just sitting and chatting with them over a great cup of coffee. We have never slept better or felt so cozy. Everything is updated and impeccably clean, and smells beautifully calm. The sheets and towels were gorgeous and beds amazing. Accessories, robes, extras all so perfect. Breakfast fresh, local, delicious and plentiful. Lis and Miles are kind and smart and everything they do considers care for people, their home, the environment and the Middlebury community. Less than 3 min from the blue chip Midd athletic facility, this is the perfect place for parents, prospects, alums, academics, and athletic supporters. It sits on 13 acres of a diverse orchard with great walking and running trails, so plenty to do right on the spot. Please know that we take this reference extremely seriously and, while we have stayed at top hotels around the world, we can't remember being so inspired to leave a review. GO FOR IT! read more
