It's been a year since COVID-19 uprooted our sense of normal life and changed so much about our world. One thing that hasn't changed is the beauty of the lakes and mountains in the Adirondacks. We have spent the winter preparing, and are pleased to announce that we are taking reservations for the 2021 season (May 28th-Oct 31st). Please see our online calendar for updated availability as well as our new Covid-19 policy page for the latest CDC guidelines and safety protocols at the Inn. As CDC and DOH recommendations change, we will update our policies also. Our local Tourism Councils and Chambers of Commerce are predicting a busy season in our area, so we encourage you to book in advance as we are not accepting "walk in" reservations this year. A couple of warnings: you are staying in a house that was built over a hundred years ago. All things considered, it's in great shape, but as of now, the exterior drastically needs a paint job. The Victorian nature of the house makes it look a little like the Psycho house. Don't give up, just go inside! However, once you are inside, you are in heaven. Karen is the nicest person you could imagine hosting a B&B. She was very excited to be sold out for a special event at the Star Trek tour. The place looks great inside (see my photos). We stayed in the Rose Room. The room was huge, with a very good bed. The bathroom is large as well. We loved everything about it, except for two small things. The jacuzzi tub does not have a shower. I did not notice this when reserving the room. Of course, a bath is fine. The only other complaint I have is that the wifi did not work in our room. It's a very big house, so I was not completely surprised. Our cell phones worked fine (Verizon). Wifi worked fine in the living room, which is also a very comfortable area. There is a flat-screen TV with Hulu in the living area (which happens to have the Star Trek episodes...). There are very large lawn areas outside the house, which would be perfect for events like wedding. I saved the best for last. The breakfasts are amazing. All home-made. In four days I put on three pounds! With my wife being vegan, we are used to getting no choice for breakfast, but she gave multiple vegan options every day we were there. KAren is really sweet and tries very hard to make everyone happy!

Vince, the owner of the inn, kindly offered to supply turn-by-turn instructions for rides he had taken himself. We built our six-day trip around those routes and incorporated two overnight stays at Edgemont. Karen, the manager, shuttled our bags between Edgemont and other inns so we could ride unencumbered. She also organized a marvelous lasagne dinner for us. Karen cooked eggs, sausages, and bacon for breakfast. Every morsel was delicious. We enjoyed the dining and sitting rooms, and best of all was our big beautiful bedroom with a bay window overlooking cow pastures. A great destination for cyclists!

All the rooms were decorated beautifully, and the Christmas decorations and tree added a festive mood. Our room was very comfortable and spotless. The plush robes were an added luxury. Come to the breakfast table hungry for you will be fed a delicious, gourmet, breakfast. Fresh fruit, homemade blueberry muffins, and a "Dutch baby" pancake that was so very tasty. And homemade sausage was a treat! Top that off with hot coffee as you gaze out the window looking at the lake. Located a few blocks from "downtown" and, therefore, in a bit of a quieter area, this B&B has a Adirondack-meets-Lake Placid Olympics-meets-comfy-retro feel to it. Rustic touches abound everywhere, the grounds, which abut the end of Lake Placid, have thoughtful and colorful plantings, hanging flower baskets, old milk cans, wooden skis, Radio Flyer Wagons, and bird houses. We took advantage of the 3 kayaks, and there is also a canoe. We lazed away afternoons on rocking Adirondack chairs, wooden chaises, and enjoyed our home-made meals (there is a refrigerator that guest can store food in, which is a really generous touch) under the twinkling, nighttime lights of the umbrella-d picnic table, The rooms are decorated with much attention to detail, the beds were super comfy, although the Lodge is on the main drag, even with the windows wide open we did not hear a sound from the McDonald's across the street, the sink mounted on an antique Singer Sewing Machine table is cool, the clawfoot mini-tubs are fun, although a little difficult to maneuver in and out from because the shower curtain is attached all the way around. A really good breakfast, prepared mostly by Moses/Red, co-owner with his wife, Nan, is served with panache (and a tableside visit and stand-up comedy from Red), vintage plates, and, wait for it...the New York Times! Both Red and Nan share their thoughts, hiking and swimming hole suggestions and local and national/political gossip. The…read morelake was just steps away (where we were encouraged to store our own kayaks), the views of the lake and surrounding mountains were wonderful, and despite it being only a few miles from Saranac Lake village, it felt many miles away from everything. The hosts were helpful and kind and we hope to come back to stay next Fall. The apartment is open with 2 beds next to each other which is great for a family and the kitchen was fully-equipped.
