After…read moregetting snide remarks when asking them to correct obvious issues and during final inspection my wife pointed out small defects and asked " could these be fixed". Contractor replied by saying yes and pointing out more....then walked out with the check and signed completion cert...and never got anything she pointed out fixed. We felt it better to cut ties and we'll fix or pay to fix issues ourselves. Rooms not being worked on were covered in drywall dust for multiple weeks( including master bedroom, when they were specifically told my wife and daughter both have asthma). Cleaning was provided 2 times was sub par at best and we had to go behind them to actually clean many of the days after they left. Final cleaning after completion never provided. They started 3 weeks earlier than expected, which would've been fine, except I had guests in town and this was actually an inconvenience. Project Began Nov 3rd finished Dec 18th. quoted 24-36 days. Only 1 day lost due to weather. salesman said they don't use any sub contractors, delayed a week due to a shody drywalle SUB. another SUB came in and still couldn't get walls flat. check gap pictures above. I also doubt the two "utility" kids are W-2 employed. Existing plumbing constraints changed initial floorplan and we accommodated. Unfortunately this meant A closet was completely deleted from the plan ,still paid for though. The supposed make up for this was a small basement cubby we had was to be finished and shelves added. This was not done at all. A floor was added to the cubby and that's all. When asked why this was not finished I received the following reply. ------- That was one of many extras thrown in as good faith. I felt we went above and beyond. With extras adding electrical, plugs, switches, etc. cutting the mantle down caping staining and repairing the wall. Staining was going be part of it 28hrs worth, also the wasted lumber. The additional sub floor and underlayment. I threw in bundles of insulation, priming of the walls. I heard you mention you wanting the different lights I took back what I bought and got the lights you wanted without being asked. -------- A few issues with all the "extras" listed above. No "extra" outlets or switches were added. (Except the extra toilet out...see above picture) They simply moved the outlets that should've been in the closet we never received to the wall they couldn't get flat. Cutting the mantle down, staining and repairing wall. I told them it was a plan I had and asked for any pointers they could give me. They said they could do it. I expressly said that I wasn't paying them for that and please don't feel like you need to do anything extra. Unfortunately it was done as well as the rest of the work and will need redone. Either way, not an excuse to not complete contracted work, or work agreed upon when original scope was modified on site. 28 hours and wasted lumber was based on a miscommunication between salesman and contractor. I asked for 5" widow/door headers and baseboards and 4" window vertical and base casings. After being shown a picture of the baseboard they spent "28" hours staining (wrong stain, wrong wood) i noticed the size they planned on installing in my 7 1/2' ceiling basement bathroom. 1 1/4" thick, 5.5" tall. Who the hell wants that in such a small space. Contract even states " trim examples to be provided by customer" ...was never asked for the samples. No additional subfloor was installed...only required. Extra underlayment was installed....just not according to manufacture specs...taped seems and not patchwork pieces jammed in where they fit. Two bags of rockwool and $12 per light(4) were provided "free of charge" guess that makes up for all the rest of it. You'll notice most if not all pictures they use are factory produced pictures. Not of actual installs they've completed. Pictures I've attached are an actual job they've done. You decide.

I am a very analytical person so I had twelve companies give me estimates for this work. I started with the TV advertised giants, you know who they are, but their price estimates were so outrageous due to their massive overhead that I quickly moved on to others. Even their gimmicky marketing attempts, such as free installation, were essentially lies and had no impact on the final price estimate. They even tried to call me after the initial high bid and offered to send someone out again to lower the estimate. Don't fall for these gimmicks. I finally hit a home run with Bath Builders in North Lima Ohio. They were straight shooters and gave me an extremely competitive offer right at the start. They offered the same products as the industry giants, but at a more competitive price with a more personable approach. The quality of the installation exceeded our expectations (see picture) and they offered some exceptional advantages as follows: 1 - They accepted credit card payments with no additional fees added to the estimate. 2 - They offered a lifetime warranty on all parts used 3 - They give a 50 year warranty on labor. No one else in the industry does that. Most other companies offer a 1 to 2 year warranty on labor. 4 - They use a proprietary gluing system that uses two components that no one else has. All other companies simply use an adhesive caulk. 5 - The personable quality of the employees from estimator to installer is unmatched in the industry. If you have a bathroom remodeling project on the table, I would highly recommend that you consider them for your project. I know you won't be disappointed. From the FEW that actually had the courtesy to answer my call, make the appointment, show up on time and then provide a written quote in a timely manner, Jason at AB Drain won the job hands down! He spent over an hour at my house on a Saturday evening going over the causes of the constant water pooling in my yard and answered every question in a way that I could tell he knew his stuff! I made my mind up before he even left my property that night. When I received his quote, he was extremely thorough explaining each step in great detail, something that was severely lacking with the other few quotes I received. The best part was that his price was under our budget and was the second lowest but included much more that the others did not include, such as hauling away the excess dirt from the french drain, grading out the yard afterwards and using high grade piping instead of that black corrugated garbage!! He kept us in the loop approaching the start date and throughout the job itself, providing us updates daily. I wasn't there for two of the days but he took hundreds of photos during the job that were awesome seeing how it all came together and what is now under the grass!! His crew worked their butts off without taking lengthy breaks or talking on their phones all day...God bless them! Jason was on the job the entire time, which you don't see often being that he is the owner. He was just as dirty and sweaty as his crew at the end of the days. It took them 5 days to install 400 feet of french drain, a sump pump and then 300 feet of downspout drains that all drained into a small retention pond he installed at the back of our farm. I won't lie that I questioned whether it would function as he promised but since the install it has poured many times with local flooding even. Those rains would leave out yard as a swamp for weeks afterwards but not now! It all worked in unison and leaves our yard functional, dry and our plot able to take on seed for the first time in a decade without washout concern! These guys are top notch! Jason provided a transferable lifetime warranty on labor, which was not offered by any of the others who submitted bids (and charged more than him)! I would recommend them to anybody that appreciates attention to detail, quality of work, personalized customer service, and an all around professional approach when in a similar drainage nitemare like we used to be stuck in! Thank you guys! Keep up the great work!"

However, if I had known the extent of the damage they would cause to my yard, I would have gladly paid more for a professional service. After months of receiving notices from the county about our overdue septic installation and repeatedly calling for updates, they showed up unexpectedly one day. The survey had approved the placement of the septic system where we wanted it, but instead, they tore up my driveway and the landscaping we had just installed a month prior without any consultation. When I questioned why they didn't place it according to the surveyor's instructions, they claimed it was too close to the neighbor's yard. Upon reviewing the situation, it turned out the surveyor was right. I suspect they avoided that spot because of tree roots from a tree we had removed, but they didn't have the honesty to admit it. After completing the job, they left my yard in disarray for over six months. When they finally returned to finish, they dumped a massive amount of large gravel throughout my yard. While I understand some gravel is necessary, the quantity they left was absurd. I've personally removed three wheelbarrows full of rocks from just the surface, and I continue to find more. These are not small rocks either but large rocks requiring two hands to lift. The ground is so littered with rocks that I can't get grass to grow and can't even rototill the area. They also left my new landscaping in shambles and even left trash strewn across my yard instead of disposing of it properly or burying it. I'm left wondering what happened to all the original soil that was replaced with rocks and clay. I cannot recommend this company for any work and have advised my in-laws to refrain from recommending them to their clients as well.
