That is steep but I wanted them in and paid for it. I have been to other blow bar type salons and paid way less before. Devine did my hair and did it well. She was professional, kind and fast! She makes me feel like a princess and styles me for all of my photoshoots and book covers. The studio is clean, trendy, and professional. They always offer water or wine; and I always go with a glass of red. Not only are the stylists very friendly and knowledgeable, but they are super quick!! She takes such good care of my hair, seriously making it grow longer than it has ever reached on my own. The price was insanely reasonable. In hindsight I wish I'd tipped a little heavier because this is the least expensive hair cut I've ever gotten in Charlotte (lived here 18 years). And it is a GREAT cut! Jana was super nice, easy to talk to, LISTENED to me when I said "yes" or "no" to her questions about my cut. All in all very happy with the experience. The salon itself is very cozy. Unpretentious comes to my mind. It was clean, functional, and cute but didn't feel like it was trying too hard. Parking threw me a bit: I couldn't tell if they have their own parking spots in the two surrounding lots. There were signs about permits, which I didn't have. This is a salon that specializes in African American hair care needs including natural care, braids, weaves and updos. Shantel started where all good hair stylists begin...at the shampoo bowl. She gave my hair a good cleanse using quality salon products by scrubbing my scalp thoroughly yet gingerly. This is normally the point where most stylists loose their patience with my super curly, super thick hair and begin to tug and pull or slack off on the washing process. Not Shantel, despite my apologies, she trudged on without commenting on my crazy hair with some interesting and entertaining beauty shop conversation to boot. She then patiently and gently detangled my hair. She applied a protectant, sectioned it and blew it dry with minimal heat. Once dry, she went on to straighten my hair section by section applying just enough product to give a nice sheen while avoiding a greasy weight. After straightening, she TRIMMED my hair perfectly (and I do mean TRIM). She took off only what was necessary to give me a healthy head of hair and beautiful shape while retaining length. She then went back through and gave my hair a nice bend and styled it. After taking some pictures for me, she even wrapped it. The price was reasonable given the density and length of my natural hair, the quality of the products and the high caliber of the result. I don't straighten my hair often, but I will definitely be using Shantel for all future blowouts. The results are unparalleled.

When we got to the salon, Cheresa took my mother right away and had her hair washed. Shortly after, my daughter began having her hair washed. My mother got a wash, condition, color, trim, blow dry, and curl. My daughter's hair was washed, conditioned, blow dried, and flat ironed. The care and good energy that Cheresa showed my family was as if she were doing her own mother and daughter's hair. On top of that, when the other stylists & patrons heard it was my daughter's birthday, they helped me sing happy birthday, in the Stevie Wonder version. Lastly, I told them that my daughter is a singer, and they allowed her to perform her version of "Rise Up," by Andra Day. This salon is really living up to its name. She did a fantastic job on both my cut and color, (single color and long hair with layers), and the price was by far the most reasonable I have yet to come across in Charlotte. Robin has been cutting hair with the salon for over eight years now, so I was instantly at ease in her chair. (Keep in mind this is coming from a girl who can't stand getting the slightest of trims.) The salon itself is adorable, in an old house divided up into many rooms and nooks that offer both a comfortable and personal experience during your hair cut. Within this shop they are doing top-notched blow outs, curls, sew-ins, dye jobs, styles of all lengths, and so much more. If you can picture it, they can do it! I always get a sew-in of 18 to 20 inches, and Rasheedah's dyes it for me to match my rinse. I like AAH Salon too because it's a one-stop shop, I get my bundles right in house, tax free, lol. The hair I have in now I've had since March this year, and I've been on vacation with it, straightened it, curled it, and have worn it wavy. The salon itself is a baby, but the stylist here have years in this business, so I highly recommend you give them yours!
