I really enjoyed working with Angela and her team. When I first met Angela for my trial session, I was incredibly nervous because make up is not my forte, but once I started talking to her I felt instantly at ease. They traveled to the agreed upon getting ready location and got there early, and were very meticulous with their work and very patient with both mothers. I was a little nervous about my mother and ensuring she felt happy and comfortable with how she looked but Angela and her sister were patient and worked hard to make sure she was comfortable and happy and felt natural! They also made sure there was plenty of buffer room before we had to leave to the venue. I had my lashes done by Angela, and it came out so good! I wanted to get them done for a wedding in Cancun and came across her ig page that showed a "wet lash" style. My natural lashes are short and kind of thin, so when I've done lashes before, they start to weigh down as they grow out. Angela explained that the wet lash style is really suitable for my type of lashes and also she would use a short length for me (9mm). After she was done, I was so incredibly happy with them! They looked so natural but fuller and thicker looking! It looked like I had mascara on. I was in Cancun for 5 days and these lashes stayed on so well through the strong winds/humidity, the pool, and the beach! It's been almost 3 weeks, and they still look as if I just got them done. For context I ended up having to have an elopement/Zoom wedding which meant adjusting a lot of what I had originally envisioned for my wedding day. We were planning a quick microwedding/elopement ceremony in less than 4 months - we found Beauty in Motion from the great reviews on Yelp and they exceeded our expectations! We needed hair and makeup for 10 women from ages 25 to 80, and the team did an amazing job adapting to everyone's requests and preferences! This is my second time writing a review. Just want to say that Crystal is amazing.. I have bad skin ( acne scars) aside form this my skin is super dry.. Crystal does amazing work, my makeup lasts all day and it's full coverage. Also my hair is long but very thin she finds the way to add a lot of volume. Angela & Crystal are an amazing sister team tackling all of my beauty needs. Crystal did my microblading and made it a comfortable, painless procedure. She was very attentive and took the time to make sure my eyebrows were even and was a good fit for me. I got so many compliments afterwards on my eyebrows. Angela did my bridal makeup and I couldn't have been happier! We met for our initial consultation and trial and I don't know what I was thinking because I told her I wanted glam. While it looked great, I realized after that I wanted natural NOT glam! I was panicking and e-mailed her asking if we could change the look and worried we would need another trial. She e-mailed back saying it would be no problem to switch the look and there will be no trial needed as it's their signature look. I highly recommend a hair trial because we had to try different styles to fit my petite face (don't always trust Pinterest). On the day of my wedding, her team was able to quickly set up in our hotel room. They all did such a great job with my bridesmaids, groomswoman, and I, everyone looked so beautiful! One of my bridesmaids told me that out of the four times she's been a bride, her hair and makeup turned out the best with BIMS. Overall, this company is very professional. I researched many makeup artists in the SGV area and BIMS prices were the most reasonable, especially since you get to work with the owners and not just a senior or lead artist. One major plus is that Crystal gave me advice on skincare and makeup. I am still using the products that she recommended. I must say that my wedding photographer, Donna Lam's photography style matches BIMS style very well. I recommend booking both together. I'm so thankful to Beauty in Motion for accepting the job to do hair and makeup for me at my wedding in Santa Barbara. It was important to me to have artists that really understood how to work with Asian eyes. The struggle is real. I knew I had to go with them when Crystal broke out the eyelid tape during our trial. I was excited because I had never used it before. And overall, at the end of the trial, I still felt like I looked like myself but much, much better. That's one of the things that first drew me to them; all the pictures of their clients made them look like fresh, dewy versions of themselves. On wedding day, Crystal and one of her colleagues, Angel, drove up 100 miles and arrived bright and early at 7:30 a.m., right on time. Crystal got started on me right away and spent the majority of her time with me while Angel knocked out hair and makeup for some of my family and bridesmaids. My family had some unexpected requests at the last minute, like my mom asking for her hair to be done, or my niece wanting both hair and makeup done instead of just hair. Crystal and Angel didn't balk and worked very professionally. I'm not sure how they ended up finishing everyone on time. If they had to rush at all you couldn't tell because everyone looked great. Crystal even touched me up after I struggled getting in and out of my tea ceremony dress that had no zipper - it was a stretchy dress that went on and off over my head, totally inconvenient for my loose updo. It occurs to me now that choosing the right hair and makeup artist is such a big part to getting you in the right mindset for your wedding or event. They're one of the first vendors you're going to work with on your big day so you really want some calming energy. I was the maid of honor for a wedding last week, and true to form I was running around like a lunatic and forgot to plan how I was going to do my own hair and makeup. I knew that the bride was being forced by her beloved to get her hair and makeup done, thus I also felt compelled to do something special. Anthony found this five star rated salon himself on yelp, five minutes from where we were having breakfast in San Gabriel. And by a small miracle, they were able to fit me in. I really didn't know what I wanted - only that I wanted my hair down (cuz I always wear it down) and "um romantic I guess." Angela did an amazing job. I have a flat head - like gumby!, and she did something to make my head look not so flat, and my hair very full on top. She knew exactly what I wanted, even though I wasn't quite sure what I wanted. I got so many compliments - and despite the stress and sweat of that day, I maintained my makeup and hair for many hours. The fake eyelashes lasted four days! Many of my friends said "You should go back their for your own wedding Lulu!" I definitely well. Loved Angela's magic. I rarely write reviews but this needs to be said. I'm a recovering tom boy and I'm not the type that wears or knows how to do much of make up. For those reasons I've always struggled to feel my best whenever I wanted to look dolled up. I overheard from friends that lashes is all I really need to spruce up my look, with consideration to the eyelashes trend and craze I started to wonder if it I'd hop on the eyelashes bandwagon. I was reluctant about getting them done because I didn't want to damage my existing lashes and felt the money wasn't worth the longevity of its life. I didn't want to them looking too intense aka ABG (asian baby girl) but I also didn't want it to look too natural where it didn't look like I even got them done. Samantha did an AMAZING job finding that happy medium and gave me great recommendations after assessing my lashes and also helped me figure out what would look good with the shape of my eyes. To my surprise, they lasted a month and still looks great. I'm able to put on minimal makeup and am out the door in less than 10 mins thanks to these bad boys! I followed the cleaning instructions they provided and did my best to keep them cute so it was great to see how they held their own. I believe the lashes are mink so they have a natural airy look to them, the previous place I tried def had a different material because it started looking really plastic-y towards the later weeks however these lashes looked fluffy and airy throughout the whole month- super brownie points for that! read more
