I assumed the quick one would be comped so went ahead. But, no. I was charged for the full treatment. And the treatment was inferior at that. I received a text message advertising 15% off services of $45 and up. I had absolutely no problem paying the full price, but when I asked about the discount, I was told it only applied if the basic pedicure itself was $45 or more, without any add-ons. That condition was NOT stated anywhere in the promotional text that was sent to me. When I pointed this out, instead of simply explaining the misunderstanding, the man I spoke with raised his voice and told me that I should have called beforehand to ask about the terms of the promotion. How does that make sense? If there are additional terms or exclusions, they should be clearly stated in the advertisement--not left for customers to somehow guess and call to ask about. I repeatedly explained that the money was not the issue and that I was perfectly willing to pay full price. My issue was the misleading advertisement and, more importantly, the way I was being spoken to. Instead of trying to resolve the situation professionally, he continued arguing with me, insisted that he was right, and told me I could leave if I wanted to. Unfortunately, I was already halfway through my service and had other things to do that day, so leaving and starting over somewhere else wasn't practical. Then, as if the experience wasn't uncomfortable enough, he insisted that I PAY BEFORE MY SERVICE WAS EVEN FINISHED. His explanation was that customers are "thieves" who sometimes complain that their service was bad and leave without paying. I have never experienced anything like this at a nail salon. This was genuinely some of the worst customer service I have ever received. Even if the service had been FREE, the disrespectful attitude and unnecessary arguing would still have been unacceptable. A promotion misunderstanding could have been resolved in 30 seconds with a polite explanation. Instead, it turned into an argument because of the way management chose to handle it. The manager seriously needs to learn how to communicate with customers without raising his voice, arguing, or becoming confrontational. I cannot understand how a business expects to retain customers while treating them this way. No wonder the shop was empty on a Saturday. Absolutely terrible experience. I will say the booking was easily done online on my cellphone @ Okanaspa.com. They asked me to arrive 30 mins early for my 9am appointment slot. Kayla called me to confirm my appointment and answer any questions I had, also made sure I was comfortable with a male massage therapist. They had a cute little outside waiting area in view of the outdoor pool off the boardwalk, which was a beautiful start my relaxation journey! At 8:30am on the dot, I was welcomed inside & the journey begun. Once I got into The Spa, I signed a quick waiver & they gave me the grand tour showing me the locker rooms, red light therapy, restroom, changing rooms, sauna, how to set the locker code for robes and slides & dropped me off in the tranquility room. The tranquility room had iced water, warm water & chilled watermelon infused water to drink and comfy couches separated my sheer curtains & loungers with soft blankets with tranquil music and water flowing in the background. Total zen zone! Olivia (my esthetician) came first to take me to my room for a facial. She was so sweet! Perfect amount of pressure and quiet to entrust that I had the best experience ever. After the facial, she brought me a mimosa (also offered juice, champagne, or water) & took me back to the tranquility room. Jim was next to call on me & he was my massage therapist. Initially, I was a little nervous about having a male masseuse, but he was perfect - he asked my comfort level & what style I would prefer. He was so knowledgeable and friendly through the whole process. I never once felt weird during my massage. He was very professional and truly wanted to me to benefit from this special day. Once my massage was over, he brought me some water & saw me back to the tranquility room. After this, I headed to the locker room & changed back into my clothes and made my way into the Mani-Pedi Salon. Here I met Aubrey. She was so nice and accommodating! I was able to pick out my colors and she was nice enough to remind me that the chlorine in the pool may damage my paint so I upgraded to gel polish and Aubrey hit the ground running, making it happen. The sugar scrub was my favorite part but she was very thorough through the entire process from start to finish. I love my nails & feel so good after the services I had at The Spa at Okana! I checked out & they were able to charge my cc on file at time of booking. There was a $40 charge added to my package due to the gel polish upgrade but Aubrey gave me a heads up so I was expecting it. I've been to many other massage places before and many others had extra hair ties and other goods you may need for the massage and for after. There were a couple items for you to use like lotion, soap, shampoo, and conditioner in the bathroom. As for the actual massage I'd say it was just alright. I've had better massages other places. I didn't really leave feeling refreshed. You can valet your car inside the resort and then get your valet ticket validated with the spa, so you don't have to pay for the actual parking.
