I decided to come here to get some hair products since a friend recommended this place. When I walked in the two employees were talking and no one greeted me or asked if I needed any help. So I wandered around the store looking for my hair products and when I couldn't find them I asked one of the employees. She walked me over to an area where the products should be but apparently they ran out. She was also on her cellphone while helping me, poor customer service. Once I asked when they will restock she said she didn't know(she was still texting on her cellphone). I would say don't expect much of customer service and to call ahead for the things you're looking to get before wasting your gas to get there. read more

Sketchy neighborhood, for the more uppity types that are on here, but the selcection of hair and wigs is awesome. I'm not bald, but I am really too lazy to do another chemical relaxer to my thick hair especially since I'm going to just sweat it out, so I wanted to get a quick fix. I found a lovely synthetic half wig and they were on sale for $11.99. When my mom saw me, she thought I went to the salon. Good sign, I guess. I'm going back to see if I can get a short haired wig since I always wanted to try it, but I never wanted to cut my actual hair. And it has all the other things you would expect from a beauty supply store in a black neighborhood. read more

I shopped at this location today. I asked for a number 4 in Zury Quattro(Ultra Swirl). But they did not have any solid colors. I was told that they had a 4/30 in that style so I purchased that. I was NEVER TOLD that it would cost me an extra $2.00 because the hair was a color. After I looked at my receipt. I noticed that I was charged $2.00 extra. So I asked the cashier in a nice way why? He got loud and rude about it stating that the flyer states that $2.00 will be added for colors. Saying that as big as his store is he don't have to take $2.00 and that they own other shops. I still remained claim while telling him it's not about the $2.00 it's the principal of what you are doing when charging customers who are supporting your business in the Black Community. We looked at the flyer on the counter and it stated Beauty Elements Super Sale! ADD $2.00 for Colors. NOT Zury Quattro. I explained to him that it doesn't state that for Zury Quattro. Then he tried to say that all beauty supply stores charge $2.00 for colors. THAT IS NOT TRUE!. So he then showed me on the flier where it stated Starts on April 12, 2011. We reserve the right to limit quantites & CORRECT PRINTED ERRORS.....lol (If they are making that may errors in THEIR business maybe they should proofread before printing). I asked for a refunded. He stated they don't give refunds. So I told him to give me any style in a SOLID color and that I wanted two caps in the place of my $2.00 that he over charged me. I was a very loyal customer to store. And spent alot of money wherever I would visit. However after today, I will drive somewhere else first....MY MONEY SPEND ANYWHERE. And a word of mouth goes a long way. I will be calling B.B.B. And the Black radio stations to inform our black community to PLEASE READ your receipt whenever visiting THIS LOCATION. NOT EVERYBODY IS STUPID.....Your big business that you stated is located in a black community (Liberty City) so who do you think helps you keep your business OPENED???????? Dark and lovely is my go to beauty supply store when I don't want to drive all the way to super beauty me ( which has a larger selection) they have a sales paper which I love and they compete with other places flyers if you bring them in. They carry a large array of extensions (for us weave-aholics!) In various price ranges, human hair and synthetic wigs, hair products, cosmetic products, nail polish, costume jewelry..... Even shoes (that are probably as cheap as tap water!)... And there's a "bootleg" guy chillin outside. It's a one stop shop. read more
