I've tried contacting Renata on three several occasions the past year. I used the online service booking she requires to find out days later via text that the staff is unavailable which is understandable. Two of those times I was offered no solution/replacement still being 4 months in advance. This last incident I was told she was unavailable and "to follow up with me if you don't hear back" in regards to the replacement she said she had. I followed up with no reply three days later. I was then told I was insensitive and inconsiderate that I followed up during the weekend. How dare me text her on her cellphone (that she replied from) on a weekend when she was working a wedding.... I was in disbelief that such customer service would be handled by the owner herself, so I left an Instagram comment expressing my concern. Not surprised; Within 1 minute, my comment was deleted and she messaged me through private message saying she is a "1 person team and works 12+ hours". Not sure how this is relevant since you asked me to follow up with you, which I find it to be of poor customer service. You can at the very least try to make the person on the other side of the screen a little bit important even if you won't profit as much as a wedding party. That is CLEARLY what she intended to say repeatedly. She kept mentioning that she would message me at 11PM I guess trying to prove that she was responsive... again, so irrelevant. I FULLY understand the demand MUA have, but the way everything was handled was unprofessional and rude. It takes days for her to reply to a text, but 1 minute to delete a comment and then "fight back" via DM. This is simply unethical. She showed no sympathy throughout the entire conversation. I told her it felt she was doing me a favor by accommodating me- I shouldn't have to feel that way. Her response? "you are not doing me a favor either" like, what? No thank you. I'm expecting a long comment from her coming up with excuses, but it is what it is. Customer service goes A LONG way! Miami is tiny, if you are great at what you do, be great at treating others who appreciate your work. I also want to add she blocked me on Instagram after I wished her to have a good day LOL. This was for services rendered in 2022 for my engagement photoshoot that we flew into Miami for. 2 stars are for the hair and make up women because they were actually wonderful, did a great job and had the best energy. Unfortunately Renata herself is extremely rude and unprofessional. We paid the requested amount when booking her, and had cash on hand, prepared with the total that we were expecting to pay. As the hair and make up artists were leaving, one of them called renata as there was a dispute regarding the total she told them to pay vs what we were told to pay. The whole thing was extremely uncomfortable at the end. There was was much back and forth with renata in the end. She expected us to pay an extra $300 because an engagement photo shoot however did not tell us and so we were not prepared with this cash. I'm arguing with her over text and calls with my hair and make up done. It felt like a bad dream. It was embarrassing and frustrating, and it felt like we were keeping the MUA hostage since she couldn't leave until we paid! Since we were running late we ended up giving in and asked to Zelle. We had no problem paying the agreed upon amount but it was extremely rude, unprofessional and felt very scammy. In the end, she made it sound like there was a miscommunication on both ends instead of taking an accountability for a problem that was very clearly her fault. Worst part was that MUA said it happens all the time, and it put a damper on an otherwise exciting event. I'm sure they do great work but you risk extreme unprofessionalism and unnecessary stress. Where do I even begin. Renatas talents are unmatched. You pay for what you get. From my trial to my wedding day everything was flawless. She is very busy because she is very talented. As simple as that. She runs her hair and makeup like an organized business. I loved being locked into a contract instead of dealing with last minute cancellations. Everything is bulletproof. You know how much you are spending, how many artist she may need, and with timeline details, when she knows when her and her team need to start. She works so well with other vendors and it was so amazing to see that. From her personal life to professional life she is just a genuine person overall. That's who you want on your wedding day. I unfortunately did not have the amazing experience that other brides have had with Renata Estepan. I wish that I had, it would have made my day a lot less stressful. I found her to be unprofessional, rude, and unresponsive the majority of the time. I had had difficulty reaching her throughout the process of booking with her. Most times she did respond I felt as though she had no idea who I was (as in responding with the wrong information about my trial, sending an artist with traditional makeup for my trial even though I requested airbrush, etc.) But to top it off, the week leading up to my wedding my coordinator was tasked with confirming times with all of my vendors but couldn't seem to get a response from Renata, I wasn't surprised. However, I was surprised when I finally heard back from her at 10:40PM the night BEFORE my wedding. She came at me with a terrible attitude and told me that she wasn't responsible for responding to my coordinator because my coordinator doesn't pay her, I do. That's insane. There was an issue on my contract where I accidentally put the start time as the end time. That is obviously my mistake but it could have easily been worked out if Renata were responsive to our attempts to confirm the time. Lastly, she actually wrote to me in a text message that she has me and "100 other brides" to deal with that is why she's difficult to reach. Great customer service there. Despite Renata's lack of business skills or professionalism, Zunia who did my makeup was fantastic. I have to say she was sweet, responsive (I actually had to reach out to her directly when Renata wouldn't confirm she received my payment for over a week), incredibly talented, and made me and my family feel gorgeous the day of. Zunia should be running the show. I'm sure Renata is a fantastic makeup artist but she is a nightmare to work with. UPDATE: I just want to add that Renata actually disputed my review on Wedding Wire and I had to prove that I was even a client of hers since she claimed I wasn't. That review has since be reinstated since Wedding Wire deemed it legitimate despite her best efforts to take it down. If I could give her zero stars I would. UPDATE II: Since Renata has the nerve to write such a long-winded response claiming my statements aren't true, I would be happy to send anyone who is interested my screenshots from our conversations proving what a difficult person she is to deal with. 1. Throughout every email I requested airbrush, when Zunia did traditional at the trial I didn't care and I paid for whatever Renata told her I owed. It wasn't until after when I looked at the price list that I realized that I paid for airbrush even though it was traditional. I didn't even bring it up bc it didn't really matter in the scheme of things since Zunia did such a great job. 2. I just want to clarify that I while I did in fact make a mistake on the contract (which I noted above too and instantly admitted to on the text with Renata), there is no where on the contract that it asks for "start time" so I never wrote 8AM. It's a pretty understandable mistake to make and if Renata were responsive we could have confirmed way before the night before. Her claims that my coordinator did not try to contact her are a full out lie. My coordinator was able to contact every single vendor except for Renata. Renata then on the phone told me she isn't responsible for responding to coordinators...well, she did a terrible job responding to the bride throughout the entire process too so I shouldn't be surprised. Maybe she should treat people better if she's concerned with how she'll be portrayed within her reviews online. It's not hard to apologize and admit that you had a bad week or let things get behind. It would've been over then. But when you call me at 11PM the night before my wedding with such a defensive attitude then yeah, you're going to piss off an already stressed out bride. Anyone who has ever planned a wedding would know that. She may feel I was short-tempered with her the night before my wedding but everything I wrote here is absolutely true and I can back it up. Claiming someone isn't telling the truth simply because you just don't like what they have to say is childish. By the way Renata, it's really not that hard to find someone's contact information through a simple search of their name online. But then again for someone who can't manage to save a bride's information nor answer emails it's not surprising you don't know that - Fyi, I'm talking about how I found Zunia's contact information.....her name is unique and it was on her Instagram profile.... Renata is a rude, argumentative, unprofessional person. I'm generally a reasonable person but I won't be pushed around and mistreated by a simple-minded, petty, "mean girl". Dream team they were! I cannot express how thankful I am for these women! Starting off with Renata; the week before her wedding she was still working with me in terms of scheduling both the trials for my bridal party and myself. Being such a picky person, I had it embedded in my head I was only allowing Renata to do my hair and makeup. However, due to her personal wedding she was out of town therefore, I did my trial with Mariana and Zunia. These two women made me feel comfortable leaving no doubt in my mind I needed them to recreate these looks for my special day! Being such a girly girl, I'm obsessed with hair and makeup and these two were up to date with the latest trends and products! Mariana did a fabulous job with my hair utilizing the hair extensions I brought as well as my jeweled hair piece. I had my bridal hair and makeup done by Renata herself and all I can say is WOW! I was blown away by her INCREDIBLE work! I rarely wear makeup so any little drop goes a long way. Yesterday was my engagement party and 2 hrs before my party she sent a simple text saying she won't be able to make it without providing replacement hair stylist. Everyone that has seen my photos had something to say about the hair style and makeup. I also hired her for my wedding day for hair and makeup. Renata and her team of 3 additional ladies did my 7 bridesmaids, Maid of Honor, my sister, and myself. It was a total of 10 girls. We started at 8 am and finished by 1:30pm. They did an amazing job! Renata and her team are capable of doing pretty make up but I wasn't fully satisfied with how my makeup looked. My face felt too heavy (almost caky) I was going for something more natural and I expressed that to her but I felt at the end she did what she felt comfortable with. One of the biggest disappointments was that I asked her a week in advance to get Covid tested since she was going to be close to my face for an extended period of time and she told me because It was thanksgiving "week" it was too short noticed (there is rapid testing everywhere in Miami) she did let me know and we agreed to use N95 masks. My bridesmaids makeup was on point but I didn't liked mine and the lashes she put on me were gigantic, I would have rather her consulting the size with me before putting them on. I was pleased with the overall outcome but looking back I would have preferred something more natural. I didn't look like myself. They did a FANTASTIC job and I can't thank them enough. I'm a 35-yr-old blonde who generally does a pretty good job with my own makeup and hair, but of course I wanted something special for my wedding. I hired Renata for a special event because of her positive reviews. I'm sure SHE does good work but unfortunately I got two of her team members for hair and makeup. First of all they were not friendly...they came to me after a wedding and were complaining about how tired they were. They just seemed like they didn't want to be there...especially the makeup chick. That's another thing...I never even got her name. She just came in with an unfriendly attitude, asked what kind of makeup I liked and didn't even wind up doing anything like the pic I showed her. The hair girl was a little bit friendlier. So basically the work was mediocre and the customer service was awful. Maybe I had a bad experience because it wasn't Renata herself, or maybe because my event wasn't a wedding or maybe because they were tired from the big wedding they had before me. But none of these are valid reasons to get the service I did.
