When the spa first opened, I was thrilled to have local alternative to driving into Atlanta. After living in McDonough for 45 years, The Honeycomb Cottage quickly became one of my favorite spots. Even after moving, I continued to visit and maintained a membership for over a year and a half. I eventually paused my membership because I had accumulated several unused credits, planning to use those up before restarting. Unfortunately, a series of frustrating experiences has made me decide not to return at all: * I once arrived for a facial and waited over 30 minutes past my appointment time. I later overheard staff discussing that the aesthetician hadn't shown up and couldn't be reached. Another team member eventually worked me in. * On another visit, my niece and I scheduled facials together. Once again, one of the aestheticians didn't show up, causing delays and confusion. * At another visit, my massage appointment was canceled shortly before my scheduled time due to the therapist having car trouble. While I understand that things happen, I was rescheduled for the following day--only to arrive and find that I wasn't on the schedule. Thankfully, a therapist happened to still be there and kindly stayed to do the massage, even though he was about to leave. * I also once scheduled a HydraFacial, only to learn upon arrival that the machine was broken. I wasn't notified in advance, which was frustrating since the spa enforces a 24-hour cancellation policy but didn't extend the same courtesy to me. This seems to be a common problem and the appointment should have never been scheduled due to it being broken. * When trying to call to make an appointment you have to call several times before getting someone to answer the phone and help. I also tried reaching out to the business about these concerns. It took several weeks of follow-up calls before I finally received a response. They seemed to not really care and make excuses for the actions of the spa taking no blame or ownership of the actions. After they finally got back to me, I was told they would give me a free service, but when I arrived, they had no record of it. Fortunately, I had the email where I was told this. I did use the credit but this was not something that magically makes their actions ok. I hope the spa will improve the client experience going forward. I loved The Honeycomb Cottage in its earlier days and would love to see it return to that standard of reliability and care. Unfortunately, based on my recent experiences, it feels as though the staff and management don't prioritize communication or accountability the way they once did.

What was my first waxing experience will probably be my last because the waxing technician who…read moreperformed my Brazilian completely ignored my concerns and requests. After repeatedly telling her the wax was too hot, she continued to put it on my body, barely letting the wax cool off and I was burned multiple times. I was burned to the point where my legs were shaking from the pain. She also did not touch/rub the waxed areas immediately after taking off the waxing strip to lessen/disperse the pain. Not only did I leave the place bawling my eyes out, but I was met with was "waxing isn't for everyone, babe" from another tech during payment. Not only was I in pain from the simple wax itself, which could've been a LOT less, but the person I trusted with such an intimate part of my body could not bother to listen to my concerns. I was just another "client" who was not worth listening to because they're a "waxing expert." I was really looking forward to going there for many other treatments. I was so happy to see Locust Grove get an upscale waxing/beauty place like this, but I will never go to them again.
