It wasn't until the appointment was over, she was met with a bill of $328. This was obviously a shock to her as she expected to pay $50. When asked, why the price had changed so much, she was only then told that she didn't receive the touch up but a full powder brow appointment. She paid. After she came out, I went in for a further explanation on how a professional doesn't communicate to a client that the price would not be what she expecting. I was only told that it'd been too long for a touch up and she needed the full service. Again, why was this not communicated before the appointment. We reached out to the owner Chantel to let her know of the situation. Even stating we were not looking for a refund. Just that we wanted the situation to brought to light so it wouldn't happen again. Once Chantel wrote back, it was clear she was only going to defend her employee, which is understandable. But she did state if Kaitlyn (the professional) had thought it needed to commentated it would have been. Never should a professional assume that a client should know everything. Especially when the client books an appointment for $50 and the actual cost was going to be $328. This expiration policy was never stated anywhere on the gift certificate. There is no expiration date listed and nothing indicating it would become invalid. It was extremely disappointing to be told I couldn't use the gift certificate especially when the service was fully paid for and clearly specified on the certificate. This feels misleading and unfair to customers who receive gift certificates in good faith. Based on this experience, I would not recommend purchasing or gifting certificates from CaloSpa unless all expiration terms are clearly disclosed in writing.
