My brows needed serious work. The salon where I used to have them waxed and dyed, closed. I need to find someone new. Beautiful Brows by Annie had good Yelp reviews and an appealing web presence. So yesterday I was a premeditated walk-in. After introductions, I asked her what she recommended. First was brow threading. I had heard of brow threading, and watched videos, but had not had it done. Until yesterday. Annie was very deft with her threads. And because my brows had been neglected for a few years, it was quite painful. Annie doesn't use dye, but tints the brows with powder. I asked her to pick a color; she chose and applied Soft Black. Next time I may ask her to use something darker, Hard Black perhaps. She suggested I return in 3 weeks, assuring me that it would be much less painful when properly maintained. I'm still considering brow tatts and micro-blading, but for now I'm sticking with Annie. read more

I started going go Annie 3 years ago. Let me tell you she does not miss. I am always nervous trusting new people to do my brows, hair etc. The first time I went in I let Annie know I like a slight arch. Ever since even with my curly eyebrows I've never had to guide her on what I wanted. She is very gentle and soft spoken. The vibe is very calm. The only thing I wish is that she offered a punch card or some kind of rewards for her long term clients. I would recommend coming earlier in the day on weekends as she does get busy mid afternoon on Saturdays. If you have sensitive skin like I do, I definitely recommend getting your eyebrows threaded as it lasts longer and results in less irritation. read more

Beautiful Brows by Annie is a cute little shop sandwiched between a beauty supply place and Nawab. I've been getting my brows threaded for 4+ years now and can't go back to waxing. I was concerned that moving to the 'burg I wouldn't be able to find a place that threaded. One day driving by I happened to see Beautiful Brows and decided to give it a try. The place is spic and span inside and there was only one person working at the time I happened in, mid day, mid week. She did a good job and was quite pleasant. I would recommend giving them a try. I went to beautiful brows before leaving for a big trip. Annie, who has always been professional and careful with her craft, was doing my service. Distracted by other customers entering the salon, she took out a significant chuck of my left brow. When I informed her of what happened, she apologized distractedly (there were many people waiting in the salon) and proceeded to charge for the service - even though she was at fault! I'm sad to share this particular experience, as I've previously had many positive ones. However I feel that it was unprofessional to ask my to pay for a botched service, one in which she was completely at fault. read more

I specifically asked not to have an arch, but Annie put one in my eyebrows anyway. She clearly understood me because afterwards she offered the explanation that my eyebrows would have been too thin otherwise, but they came out thin anyway. I have never seen my eyebrows look so unnatural, and I was especially upset because I had been growing them out for a while which is why I have specific instructions. My normal eyebrow threader in DC can make any eyebrows look beautiful without any instructions, and I think that's a necessary part of the craft. I'll have to try another place next time I'm in this area. 2 stars because I was greeted friendly and the shop was clean. read more

Annie is not an expert threader. Her threading is painful. I have been there a couple of times and each time is more painful than the last. I have asked her to be more gentle but to no avail. I have never had such a painful threading experience at any other place. read more
