Unfortunately you (as the bride) are only able to look quickly at the dress inventory for about 5 minutes when you first arrive to pick a few to start with, but your guests are never allowed to help at any time during the visit. Throughout the short appointment all dress selections are made by your stylist. Which I unfortunately did not get matched with someone who was understanding what I was looking for. Maybe she was new, I'm not sure? I have read other reviews saying they aren't a size inclusive salon, which I don't think I could agree with. I'm hoping that is maybe just a story of the past. I was super impressed to see how many "extended sizing" sample dresses they had. As a normal dress size 14, I'm considered a "plus size bride" which can be very stressful for some. Thankfully almost every dress I tried on were in those extended sizes, which helped me to feel much more comfortable through the process. So thank you NY Bride & Co for that!! The salon is clean & the workers do seem happy to be there. I just have now heard from multiple friends that they all had similar experiences as mine - upset that their guests weren't able to be involved in dress selections (they're the people that know us best) & frustrated that the stylists don't listen to the brides wants and sort of just make dress selections based on what they think will look best on the bride to be.

The try on experience was not fun.. we had a scheduled appt and felt SO rushed the entire time, the try on rooms are one right on top of the other- nothing private or calm about it. You're crammed in next to everyone else's wedding party and it was just chaos. The stylist was very blunt and kept saying things like "you won't like this one" "this isn't the one" "I don't know why you'd pick this ugly one" "people ALWAYS choose the first dress they try on" which we didn't do, it was actually the third.. but the constant comments took away from the special time. Even the stylist next to us was rushing her bride saying "you won't get through all these dresses, you're only allowed five" We left and my sister got in the car and felt like wow that didn't go how I dreamt it would. What a shame. If you're looking for a budget friendly place- it's okay.. just know what you're going to get going in.. because it certainly isn't a great special experience. Really disappointed.

I walked in and told Nancy my dilemma. She was quick to start pulling dresses for me to try on. Nancy was very attentive and accommodating. She listened when I told her what type of dress I wanted. I was thankful to be able to find a beautiful dress right off of the rack. For being a floor sample, all of the beading was intact and did not need to be dry cleaned. Lucky for me it did not need alterations, although I needed it bustled. Nancy was able to have my dress ready the morning of my wedding. She did a wonderful job. I found a dress that I felt beautiful in. And the bustle she did looked so elegant. Nancy is a life saver!! If I ever need anything when I'm the area, I would use her.
