Owners of Beau Brummel Cleaners took no responsibility for shredding the bottom of my shirt and would not compensate me.

I brought three dress shirts in to be dry cleaned. When I went to pick them up a few days later, they were on hangers and in plastic. One of the owners processed my credit card and would have let me leave the store as if nothing was wrong when I noticed that the bottom of one of the shirts was shredded. The bottom six inches or so of the shirt was missing. The owners (a couple) both denied responsibility and insisted I brought the shirt in that way--a completely absurd lie. They refused when I asked them for compensation for the shirt. They merely returned $2.50 to me for the dry cleaning of that shirt. I won't be back. I was never impressed with their service anyway. They promote same-day service but often declined to provide it--even when dry cleaning was brought in early. I understand that mistakes happen; perhaps one of their machines was not working properly and it shredded the shirt. In that case, own up to it and take responsibility by compensating the customer for your mistake. The owners of Beau Brummel Cleaners clearly lack the character to do that.

    My ruined carpet runner

I dropped my custom made carpet runner at Beau Brummel cleaners last Thursday to be cleaned. My husband went in yesterday (a week later) to pick it up and they told him - very rudely- that it wasn't ready. I returned to the store the next day to pick up the carpet. The woman nervously handed me a wrapped hanger with my carpet on it, which I thought was odd because when I've had it cleaned in the past it usually comes back rolled up. Not sure what made me look, but I opened the plastic and found that they had completely ruined my runner. The backing is gone and the whole thing is mis-shapen. The really sick part is she knew full well that the carpet was ruined and world have taken my money and let me walk out of her store with no remorse whatsoever. The owner and her husband were INCREDIBLY rude to my husband and me and refused to reimburse us for the cost of the runner. They LAUGHED at us when we told them that the runner cost $200 and did not offer to compensate us in any way. I have NEVER experienced such terrible, hostile service. These people are disgusting and should be ashamed of themselves. I would give them ZERO stars if I could. ***See photos for pics of my ruined runner

Well, this is the only place that we go so.....Not really anywhere else to compare it to. But, they DO do a really good job, which is why we keep coming back. The prices aren't too bad, but it's dry cleaning, its always more money than you're willing to part with.

As of my typing this review, the place doesn't even have a featured photo on its Yelp listing, just…read morethat generic grayscale neighborhood image that's the equivalent of the Facebook/Instagram face silhouette. That tells you what you're dealing with over here. But look, I don't go to laundromats often. At my apartment not far from here, I didn't have access to a washer, so I HAD to come here. That was 25 years ago. The place hasn't changed much. That's not quite fair. Though I'm sure the floor and walls of the building are the same since JFK dropped by the long-gone Long Island Area up the street in 1960, the machines have been replaced and you manage your laundry from an app. No more shoving a sawbuck into the change machine for that clang of quarters that momentarily summons the thought that you've won a jackpot and you'll never have to spend another moment in a laundromat again. But then as you drag that lump of soiled wearables over to a machine, you return to reality and your fate. These days I don't need to visit a laundromat unless my own washer is busted, or my dryer is busted, or if I've got so much laundry I just want to get it done quickly, or if I'm cleaning one of those big fat blankets that throw off the balance of my top-loading washer and makes a pounding noise during the final spin that's like Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" only with a less-happier ending. But there are times I need a laundromat, and this place fits the bill. And by "fits" I mean "washes and dries" and by "bill" I mean "textiles." You could drop your crap off, and they'll wash and fold for you. If you're an aristocrat. Which I am not. So I'll just sit on one of the benches and stare into space or stare at my phone or stare at my laptop. At least they have Wi-Fi. The other option is to watch whatever happens to be streaming on the large television. One time it was "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." I started to wonder if any of the Kardashians had ever been to a laundromat, or know what a laundromat is, or have even seen a washer or dryer, or if they even wear anything more than once. What makes the location a little more ideal than the other laundromats in the area is that the strip mall contains a Five Guys and an Izumi hibachi restaurant. Because nothing kills time quicker than slamming a cheeseburger or pounding a mai tai. Or, perhaps, both. Curiously, according to the app, the establishment is called "Honey Bee Laundrette," which sounds kinda quaint, but I don't see any signage (or ambiance) that suggests the species Apis mellifera. In fact, the strip mall sign simply says LAUNDER CENTER, which sounds like something out of "Blade Runner" where your memory gets wiped. On the days I need to go to the laundromat, though, I could use a good memory wipe afterward. THREE STARS

the only reason I'm giving this a 3 star is cause people come in pairs and HOG the damn machines. I…read morecan't in at 10 there's 2 couples inside with few cars in lot and no machines and they all had very close timers thinking they're all the same persons. there has to be a limit to two machines per person or couple. so the rest of the people can wash their clothes too. same goes for the dryers. 1 person 5 dryers. unacceptable I've been coming here 6 years and in the last year it's a shit show.

On Wednesday I dropped off 3 shirts and 1 pants to be cleaned for the wake and funeral. I asked if it could be ready by Friday morning (wake was Friday afternoon 2 hours from where I live). When I went to pick up my clothes around 10am, he couldn't find them. He was looking for 15 minutes. Then actually had me go in the back to go through all the dry cleaning to see if I could find mine. It wasn't there. He told me to go buy the clothes and he would reimburse me. At this point I was so upset, I'm dealing with the loss of a loved one and now I had to rush to go buy clothes. I pulled myself together and went and bought 3 shirts and 1 pants, it came to $246. I went back to the cleaners this morning to get reimbursed, the first thing he tells me is my clothes never came back and they're gone. He said, he doesn't know what happenned to them. I said ok, well I bought new pants and 3 shirts like you told me to. When I showed him the receipt, he tells me he's not paying for one of the shirts because it was $80. One of the shirts he lost cost me $120. After arguing back and forth, he finally writes me a check for the total amount. Then proceeds to tell me I can't use him anymore. Literally banning me from his cleaners. LOL. HE lost MY clothes (let alone during a stressful time having lost a loved one...which he knew and never even said sorry for your loss) and now I'm not allowed to use him anymore. Well, believe me, I was NEVER going back there anyway. Now I'm writing this to try and save others from this AWFUL business. If you want to keep your clothes and don't want to deal with a CRAZY business owner, stay far, far away from D&C Commack Cleaners.
