As of my typing this review, the place doesn't even have a featured photo on its Yelp listing, just that generic grayscale neighborhood image that's the equivalent of the Facebook/Instagram face silhouette. That tells you what you're dealing with over here. But look, I don't go to laundromats often. At my apartment not far from here, I didn't have access to a washer, so I HAD to come here. That was 25 years ago. The place hasn't changed much. That's not quite fair. Though I'm sure the floor and walls of the building are the same since JFK dropped by the long-gone Long Island Area up the street in 1960, the machines have been replaced and you manage your laundry from an app. No more shoving a sawbuck into the change machine for that clang of quarters that momentarily summons the thought that you've won a jackpot and you'll never have to spend another moment in a laundromat again. But then as you drag that lump of soiled wearables over to a machine, you return to reality and your fate. These days I don't need to visit a laundromat unless my own washer is busted, or my dryer is busted, or if I've got so much laundry I just want to get it done quickly, or if I'm cleaning one of those big fat blankets that throw off the balance of my top-loading washer and makes a pounding noise during the final spin that's like Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" only with a less-happier ending. But there are times I need a laundromat, and this place fits the bill. And by "fits" I mean "washes and dries" and by "bill" I mean "textiles." You could drop your crap off, and they'll wash and fold for you. If you're an aristocrat. Which I am not. So I'll just sit on one of the benches and stare into space or stare at my phone or stare at my laptop. At least they have Wi-Fi. The other option is to watch whatever happens to be streaming on the large television. One time it was "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." I started to wonder if any of the Kardashians had ever been to a laundromat, or know what a laundromat is, or have even seen a washer or dryer, or if they even wear anything more than once. What makes the location a little more ideal than the other laundromats in the area is that the strip mall contains a Five Guys and an Izumi hibachi restaurant. Because nothing kills time quicker than slamming a cheeseburger or pounding a mai tai. Or, perhaps, both. Curiously, according to the app, the establishment is called "Honey Bee Laundrette," which sounds kinda quaint, but I don't see any signage (or ambiance) that suggests the species Apis mellifera. In fact, the strip mall sign simply says LAUNDER CENTER, which sounds like something out of "Blade Runner" where your memory gets wiped. On the days I need to go to the laundromat, though, I could use a good memory wipe afterward. THREE STARS read more

the only reason I'm giving this a 3 star is cause people come in pairs and HOG the damn machines. I can't in at 10 there's 2 couples inside with few cars in lot and no machines and they all had very close timers thinking they're all the same persons. there has to be a limit to two machines per person or couple. so the rest of the people can wash their clothes too. same goes for the dryers. 1 person 5 dryers. unacceptable I've been coming here 6 years and in the last year it's a shit show. read more

Laundromat and drop off service. Me, I'm lazy. Can I wash clothes? Sure thing bub. Do I like to wash clothes? Doesn't really bother me to tell the truth. Do I have time to wash clothes? Not by a long shot. For me then, the best possible scenario is a maid or barring that, a drop off wash and fold service. Commack Launder center is a fancy schmancy name for the local laundromat. functional and overall it looks like it could use a good coat of paint but the place is always crowded and they do a phenomenal job of washing and folding my stuff - and so far they haven't lost anything. Prices are average and the people that work there are all super nice. Definitely worth hitting if you require this sort of service... Parking in front. read more

Ahh this was saved in my drafts from 9 months ago :(. I still dont go to this place because of this experience.. If i could give this place zero stars i would. The owner I guess decided to attend his own establishment today. Seemed pissed off that he had to fix one of the machines. Watched every move i made and told me what i could put in the machine. I was putting two comforters in the medium machine which i have been doing for years. They get clean, the machine still works after i am done but he seemed to have a problem with it. Maybe he should worry about cleaning the place. The only thing that kept me coming here was the sweet lady who is always working. He can kick rocks now. Screw you guy. read more

Decided to try a different laundry place then my typical one I go to. Went here on Saturday after Superstorm Sandy. Sign said "Dropoff Only". Talk about price gouging. I'm sticking with Laundry Basket on Larkfield Rd in East Northport, where I was allowed to do my own laundry and helped a few people out who were at the laundromat for the first time in a while or ever. read more

Came here twice. First time was great as it's very cheap. 4 bucks for a medium-large load of wash and free dryer. However, the second time, there was an abundance of service going on and a worker was taking up 6 regular use dryers. She was rude and took up a a huge folding area, which there's not much of anyway. I was waiting for a dryer and as one of hers was completed she offered it to a very attractive gentlemen. She's a laundry troll. Stay clear of her. read more

I have been coming here for a couple of years, I tried a couple other places last summer but they screwed everything up or were just yucky...laundry center never gave me any issues whatsoever This place might not be the most new, and the parking situation is kinda annoying but its the most affordable and consistent drop off place I have found. The ladies who work there are awesome, I love them. They're always pleasant and ALWAYS timely (very crucial for me as I'm a poor planner and sometimes leave dropping my stuff off till the last minute... oops can't go to work naked. So I am grateful for their reliability) My only negative remark is .. While the dryers are free, certain ones take for-ev-er. Don't put denim in the top dryer all the way to the right!!! I've been coming here for a while and have never had a problem until today! The employee (African American lady, the rude one, not the nice one) scolded me for putting my clothes in a dryer, she yelled at me to take the clothes out and I asked her "why?" as there wasn't a "Service Only" sign on the washer, she became so angry and caused a scene yelling "I work here and I'm telling you to take it out! I need that dryer! I have work to do too!" I again told her that there is no "service only" sign on the dryer & that she should have asked me nicely instead of with an attitude...she continued to yell in front of my 3 year old son as I took my clothes out, and then went back to sit down while I wait for an available dryer. While I was waiting I had 3 different customers approach me because they felt bad about how the lady treated me and offered to hold a dryer for me as soon as one was available. Few minutes later she's laughing and joking with a white male customer, as she did with every other white male that walked in to the laundromat after the incident. She then starts to harass 2 Hispanic women, telling them they're taking up too many dryers and that she needs them...very unprofessional women, needs to go ASAP! read more

WORST ever!!!! First off they gave my clothes to someone else!!! The old lady was not apologetic at all. In fact she was actually rude to me and I was being BEYOND patient with this woman. Any other customer would probably have flipped out. I requested to speak with the owner and she would not give me his number. She said she would have him call me and needless to say....no call back. When she finally figured out who she gave my clothes to, I had to wait 3 days for the person to drop it off. AND to top it all off they never even called me when the person returned my clothes. If I had not gone back to check up on this I bet you my clothes would still be there now. The place looks dirty and rundown, anyway. She also tried to blame another worker for her mistake to her boss. Meanwhile the other woman is a quality worker and I have never had a problem with her service. Let me start off by saying, I have been washing clothes for a long time. I recently broke both of my arms in a car accident, and this hindered my ability to wash my clothes to the best of my ability. I turned to the Commack Launder Center to resolve my issue. I can say with certainty, that my clothes are the cleanest they have ever been. I've been going to this laundromat for over 25 years and I've seen it go from owner to owner. It used to be Immaculate when Chris own it. Now when I look at it all the folding table, I mean really what does a gallon of paint cost?? The sink the is out for the customers to use is disgusting and filthy as you can see in the picture that I included I wouldn't touch it ever. And in the other picture you see the rugs over time of sleep the same wrong that they've had for the past 10 years, are gross and disgusting and then held down by black duct tape and finally the tops of the machine are disgusting they need to be cleaned the front of the machines need to be cleaned whole place needs an overhaul it looks like a dump and it looks filthy. The staff however I love they are great except for Lorraine who is cranky and bitchy all the time. After 27 years I have decided that I will not go back to this disgusting laundromat so he's losing a 20-year customer. I've been coming to this laundromat since the original owners had it. Hopefully the owner will read this and take the hint that it was about looks like crap. Oh and I forgot the laundry baskets that you need to put your laundry in Good Luck pushing them around there's all kinds of crap wrapped around the wheels good luck with that. Before you raise the prices you should have done some maintenance Jeff seriously. read more

normally, i'm not a fan of writing yelp reviews. i find it to be pointless and time consuming. however, when i stumbled upon the Commack Launder Center, i just knew i had to give this small-time shop the attention it deserves. while the Center is often packed with familiar faces, i can't help but feel a wave of freshness each time i enter. this quaint little place can wash my clothing like its no one's business. after my first few visits, i was so pleased that i requested to personally give my condolences to the store owner. without a skipped beat, the nice elderly lady from behind the counter went and brought out a pleasantly plump, chummy man who greeted me with a handshake and assured me it was an honor to wash my clothing. while i must admit i was thrown back by his forthcoming and slightly awkward manner, i must say i was able to reciprocate his embrace when he brought me in close for a long, tender hug. never have i had that sort of connection with a store owner before. he made me feel things i haven't felt since before my late husband's passing. overall, i must say this Launder Center has been doing a terrific job, and i am certain they will continue to do so until my time on this earth is up. the Center has become a symbol of hope in my lonesome life, and i constantly await my next visit. also, thank you to the nice, african gentlemen who has helped me on several occasions. read more
