History
Established in 1925.
Bear's Den Lodge was completed in 1925 as a private retreat for, Mr. H. Martin, a New York Banker who was also an ardent fisherman and outdoor enthusiast for adventure. He was presumed to have seen advertisements by the C.P.R. and the C.N.R. Railroads which inspired him to hunt and fish the Lower French River and Pickerel Rivers. Upon his death, his wife and sister turned the property commercial.
Today, after eight owners, conservation minded Barefoots over the past 40 seasons have been nominated twice for Ontario Small Business Award. Cuisine, fishing, history, photography, paddling, outfitting, bear hunting, guides service, corporate retreats, family vacation, swimming, fun, and more to round out the offerings including American Plan Meals Packages and Housekeeping Cottage resort for self catered events at this historic Canadian - French River Provincial Park.
