Called JD Service now and we thought they were great. A week ago, I plugged in my hairdryer and -- no power. Ok, 30 yr old home, I figured GFC needed replacing -- but same in all plugs including other GFC outlets in other bathroom. Kevin from ServiceNow came out and spent 6 hours over 2 day, much of it in our attic (it's late August) which must've been 120F or hotter. It was a real mystery He finally called to us and showed us the section of Romex he'd found way down and behind the HVAC. 3" of it was totally BURNT with the copper wiring melted due to "electrical arcing." (NOTE: We have never seen any "signs" of rodents in our house or storage attic -- and Kevin noted that, as there were no other chewed spots on the Romex, he feels less inclined to think the damage was due to one chewing on the wire.) The whole job was about $3400. AND we were offered financing that is 12-months of 0% interest -- and no min. payments due during that 1-year period, and no interest or penalty if we pay it off in full within that year. THAT is worth a LOT. Few electiricans are going to be able to offer that. And consider that you're going to pay 19-24% right now on any credit card balance you can't pay off within the first 28 days. We are very pleased at the dogged detective work Kevin did in heat that no human should have to work in. We feel confident that he got to the bottom of it and took us out of danger. We showed that section of Romex to a number of people -- other electricians, our 2 engineer neighbors. All went wide-eyed and said we were DAMN lucky that our house didn't burn down. Is JD more expensive? Possibly -- which is why we got a 2nd bid ( for $8000!) I was unhappy to read the poor reviews above. I can only "speak my truth" which is this: JD Service Now has always showed up quickly for us when called, their staff have been great. we've felt that the people who came knew what they were doing and we believe (HOPE?) that they will stand behind the work they have done for us. I should, perhaps note that neither my husband or I know anything about building, construction or electricity. My engineer neighbor told me it's easy to upgrade the panel myself "can you use a screwdriver?" The part was under warranty, but not the labor. The cost to replace it was $13,000 which I paid in advance. When the tech with the replacement part came to install the fan motor, he determined the root cause of the problem was a coil tem sensor that regulates fan speed. He went away and cam back 2 hrs later with the temp sensor replacement. I theen was charged $600 for the labvor associated with the temp sensor replacement although the part was installed b the same tech at the same time as the fan motor. So my fila cost was almost $2,000! I have sincve cancelled my sevice contracts with JD Now.
