First time there this weekend for camping and a float trip. I am a novice, I will admit that. The campsite was so so until mid morning when the bathrooms broke. Anyhow they load up two school bus full of campers, they get on and tell us the rules ALL of which had only to do with what we would be charged if we did not get the canoes back to the exact spot they wanted them in 6hrs, never said a word about safety, or what do in an emergency. They drove us 10 mile away to where the canoes were ,dropped us off and left. The river was high due to rain and 150 ft downstream we had accident the canoe tipped I was pinned underwater between a fallen tree in the river and the canoe, by the grace of God I did not drown, one friend broke her nose and the other his ribs. This was no ones fault, a accident in powerful water. We made it out and walked 150ft looking for help a nice couple offered to call bearcat getaway to come get us, an hour later someone showed up in 1990 escort without as much as a bandaid. He said he could take us back to the camp ground so WE could drive ourselves to a hospital. Oh he also decided to stop off at the store on the way back because he needed a mountain dew...WTF, meanwhile one us has black eyes and a broken nose the other can barely breath from broken ribs and me in shock from near a drowning. The people in the front office were obviously put out with us, did not ask if we needed help just said the hospital is 30mins south. Again the accident was no ones fault but bearcat never had us sign waivers, never asked if we knew how to canoe, which we did, never said what to do in an emergency. Basically you get NOTHING from them. You pay to set up camp and a ride to the canoe. I will never go back. read more
