They are simply the best at what they do! I was referred to Don from a friend of mine. My wife and I own a jewelry store in Dana Point, and we were having issues with petty theft. Don came in and did a consultation with us, and recommended some security surveillance services. He installed several cameras throughout the store, as well as a large monitor. He also installed several flashing signed to alert incoming patrons. We also ordered door antennas, which he helped to calibrate and install. Total lifesaver. While he was there, he noticed that I was having issues with my laptop. He made a few suggestions to me about my hard drive, and then took the time to come back and fix my laptop. When I first spoke with Bear's technician, Don Katz, he calmly and effectively explained the logistics of installing my cameras, etc., including the need for a separate power supply and Co-ax to Cat-5 adaptors. Don and his co-worker arrived on time and installed my pre-purchased equipment (CCTV cameras and DVR), as promised. Although they ran into a couple of technical snags with my equipment's firmware and the smart phone app, Don remained calm, called the manufacturer's tech help line and had the system working, as planned, within a relatively short time. They did an incredible job explaining the pros and cons with the different camera types, costs, and additional labor expense. We have a low voltage system installed a few years back. We called Bear Security to see if there are better cameras and newer systems. Don came out the next day and was able to present us with some great upgrade options. He came out as scheduled and completed the installation. He was very patient and explained all the features of the new hardware and software. He was always on time and was great with communicating via text and in person with expectations. *** HIGHLY RECOMMEND *** Where do I even begin? First of all, buying a home surveillance system is extremely stressful. We initially purchased a security system through Costco and it was complicated, poor quality, and broke within the first year. We ended up taking the system back and replacing it with another system; however, that system failed as well. We gave up. After two years, my in-laws bought us another surveillance system from Costco. I turned to Yelp to find an installer. After looking for several days and interviewing multiple installers, I was even more stressed because let's face it ..... customer service and punctuality seems to be non existent these days. I decided to dig a little deeper and thankfully I did. I found Don at Bear Security. I spoke with him on the phone and was extremely impressed. He was very professional and came off extremely knowledgeable. I explained our situation and he respectfully informed me Costco's surveillance systems may not be the best option for for me. Don told me he had a line of cameras to choose from that were comparable to the price of the Costco cameras. Let me clarify that Don was not in any way, shape, or form trying to up-sale me or persuade me with buying a camera system from him. He simply provided me with all the information to make an informative decision. We decided to go with a camera system through Don and used him to install it at our home. Don was punctual, professional, and provided updates throughout the entire installation. All of the cameras were professionally affixed and the wires were ran through the house and were hidden with metal piping. We have severe winds and have been through multiple rainstorms and there was no problems with the cameras at all. We use them EVERY DAY. We have access to view the live feed through our cell phones, iPads, and laptops. The video streaming is completely fluid and this was a huge change from Costco's choppy video stream. When Don was done, he showed my wife and I how to use the system and he answered every question I had. Fast forward to almost two years. Don is still in contact with us and every time I had a problem, I would simply call/text him and he would fix it within minutes. The cameras are AMAZING and I cannot tell you how happy my wife and I are with Don and his company. My wife and I are both law enforcement officers and we are very cautious with who we let into our home or let come around our family. Needless to say, we had no bad feelings or mistrust with Don. He is very personable and does not make you feel like "just another customer". I rarely leave reviews although I should leave more because I depend on Yelp to help make my purchase decisions. There are times in my life where I become very impressed by other businesses, and this is one of them. Working with Don at Bear Security was like being transported to another planet. It's almost hard to describe just how perfect everything was done. The other company failed to show up for appointments, did sloppy work, tried to upcharge me for things in our contract, and tried to sneak in cheap substandard cameras when I paid for good ones. Bear was perfectly on time, the work was super neat and clean, the prices were great, and most important were the people. He also found vulnerabilities that the previous company had missed, pointed them out, and corrected them. Don is ex-military. Maybe that's why things ran so tight.
