The nurses on staff are also highly skilled. They all make both my kids feel comfortable and cared for all well, which is the most important factor to me as a mom. Even though I am also a healthcare provider, they don't treat me like I know everything either, they take the time to explain things to me (this is not me area of expertise)! When I walk in the front door I can just be mom! This is so much appreciated as well. KCCC has adapted well during the pandemic as well and we've had no issues with breaks in services and my kids continued to be well cared for. We appreciate all the care that they have given our family.

Babies have a lot of appointments. This is one thing I've learned since having one. SO many…read moreappointments for so many things! After dealing with the NHS (admittedly, I am just not familiar with it and thus it baffles me) system in the UK, I was very happy to just call and schedule a pediatrician appointment with Kids Creek for the month or so I spent at home with said bebe. Wow, they actually ask me when I want an appointment! Amazing what paying out the nose for every cotton swab and glance of a doctor will getcha! Humor aside, I wanted to establish care for this child in Traverse City as we do spend quite a bit of time there, and like I said BABIES LOVE APPOINTMENTS. With a quick call to Kids Creek we were scheduled quickly and were on our way. We saw Dr. Robertson twice while in TC -- and I was very happy with him. Super friendly, very through, easy manner, genuinely seems to like babies and people (read: good beside manner), has 4 of of his own kids and just generally seems like a good guy. Score one for the good doctors, glad we found him. He's recently purchased the practice from the original doctor that established it -- and things seem to be going quite well. From appointment setting to check-out and follow-up, I was very pleased. He answered all of my questions, made nice remarks about how good my kid looks and made me feel at ease. They are also moving to all electronic records and bringing the practice into this century, which I find to be quite a good thing and look forward to. Kids Creek - if you need a kid doctor in the area, here it is.

They show up to Pride events as if they are allies, but I found they are transphobic. I told them I…read moredidn't want what was "assigned at birth" on my record and they should leave what I entered on intake forms. They said ok but then changed it without telling me. I had to find out when I saw it on the end of visit sheet. They never discussed it with me, just went ahead and did what they wanted to MY record. They refused to change it back stating that doing so "wouldn't reflect reality" and "would be false." That was right after telling me how proud she is to work for a clinic that supports the trans community. That isn't support, it's the same bigoted rhetoric used on trans people re birth certificates, state IDs, passports etc. It's the same hate being thrown at us from all directions now days. They claim it'd somehow be illegal to have a correctly matched gender on the record, which is ridiculous since it's just a demographic box. Being trans is documented in the medical part of the record. They claimed it's for preventive care and that the EHR would recommend the wrong care, as if providers can't think through that with their individual patients. She used an example for something which wouldn't apply since I no longer have those parts and, by her logic, trans women on hrt would never be recommended mammograms. She made a lot of other nonsense claims but the reality here is that trans people have different medical needs than their cisgender counterparts and adding a wrong gender to the medical record does nothing to address that reality. My record at Munson was my correct gender for many years and there was never a problem so these arguments are nothing but gaslighting. Trans people deserve to have correct records same as birth certificates and other documents. I thought the call was in good faith but it became clear that she had only called me (my complaint was sent in writing) in order to be condescending and rude. She kept saying I understand your perspective then immediately told me it's wrong while repeating the same illogical, made up, bigoted reasons and claiming she's not medically trained when asked for specifics on things she was stating. She wasn't trying to understand anything, rather she was gaslighting me. It was all yet another horrible experience with transphobic medical providers. The worst part about this one, tho, is they're constantly pretending to be allies. They also demanded urine drug screens and controlled substance contracts for prescribing a hormone I've been on for nearly 20 years. Never had any issues and never had anyone ask me to do that in all that time. They were unable to provide any medical or legal basis for this but continued to demand it anyway. She said they can still provide me other healthcare and seemed shocked when I said no. I'm supposed to be ok with getting care from a clinic where they not only disrespect me on my record but also refuse me medically necessary care that I've been on for decades, with plenty medical documentation behind it, solely because I won't sign some b.s. contract or submit to urine screes neither of which have any medical or legal basis. Any provider who would ignore my extensive medical documentation and repeatedly dismiss how I feel about their bigotry and medical coercion, and who would gaslight me when I complain about it, obviously does not have my best interest in mind so why would I want any care from them?? I thought it was interesting that shortly after receiving my complaint the medical director gave notice. He didn't state his reasons. Maybe it's because they are hateful hypocrites or maybe it's because they aren't actually following the law wrt nurse practitioners who are not independent practitioners in Michigan. At this clinic they do not have a real physician overseeing their nurse practitioners in the way the law states they're supposed to. I don't know. All I know is they are NOT allies to transgender people and I'd recommend going elsewhere if you're trans.
