Agree with the recent reviews, pool set up has very limited range. Seems the instructors/ management focus is just to get the child stick on same level as long as possible. They do not correct the kids during class rather just call out their weakness post the class which seems pointless for kids at that age. They stress on the fact parents learn the skills by watching/listening the instructor during class and then teach your child yourself during family swim. Definitely over-pricey. Feel being taken for granted and being used to the advantage there are not many swim schools around in area. Make up class process is so mundane and inconvenient. read more

The swimming lessons were ok. I will say I felt a little lost most lessons and felt like I was paying a very expensive price to use their pool. Their lesson make up system is terrible. If you miss a few lessons and have to make them up but cancel because you don't want to keep paying for more lessons they only give you 30 days to make up. The worst part is you can only schedule make up sessions weekly by calling in to check availability. But they never answer! And they won't schedule you in person. So I am basically robbed 100s of dollars because I won't have enough time to make them all up. read more

I'm not sure really how I feel about this place yet in the over all fact that's it's a swimming lesson place. The place is very clean and the staff is great. It's rather expensive for swim Lessons and they take there time In Teaching them. Which is good so the kids learn what they need. But I feel like they take a long time to teach a kid how to swim.... and I remember learning in like a weekend. Not over weeks or months. Instead of jump in the pool and get going the spend lots of time just talking and goofing off with the kids. 90 bucks a month and they drag it out!! How ever I like my daughters teacher/coach and my daughter loves her! But In the end my kid can swim! read more

Bear Paddle is so precious! The facility is beautiful and really nice. Even during COVID, you can tell they are taking great care to keep the kids and staff safe! We started Bear Paddle for our 7 month old about 5 weeks ago. So far, we absolutely love it and are very happy we chose this swim school. Our daughter has Mr. Trevor and he is wonderful with her. I know he must have dozens of students a week, and already he remembers her name, her strengths and quirks in the pool, and calls her by the same nickname we use (Reesy-Cup), which I think is wonderful because he's building trust with her. His patience and his different approach with each child is very special and should be recognized. Swim lessons are definitely pricey, no matter where you go, and when COVID hit, my husband and I were very on the fence about squeezing this into our budget. But our kiddo loves the bath and the pool, so we figured we would at least try it out. I'm so happy we decided to move forward with Bear Paddle, because I think the value in the lessons is more than worth it. In 5 weeks, we already see our daughter forming habits in the water. What a refreshing addition to NKY. We've taken it daughter to swim lessons at other facilities but this is the best by far. The facilities are are new and clean without the terrible chemical smell or burn since the pool is saltwater. Our son missed two lessons because he had the flu and an ear infection. We gave them notice prior to the missed lessons. This company was pre paid for all lessons including the two he missed by no fault of his own. Bear Paddle refuses to allow him to make these up but insists on keeping the money we paid for those two lessons. They have lost us as customers and can dispute this with our bank when we dispute the charges. Also, we had to chase down his accomplishment badges each and every time he earned one rather than them handing them to him with positive praise. read more

This place is a joke ran mostly by kids. The water may have improved slightly, but for the last several months the entire place has smelled like urine and my son has gotten more ear infections during his short time here than ever, this was actually where he got his first one. There is one changing table out of the 10 rooms despite this place offering infant classes with more than four infants in the water at a time. Office staff aside from the front desk girl are rude and there is zero communication, no one really knows anything and they can't answer most basic questions. I'm glad we aren't wasting our money or time here any longer. We thought we would take a break from classes and come back during the winter since the pool will open soon and you do the same routine each class anyway, but after the last two months we definitely won't be back unless they start putting adults in charge. You could learn more about how to teach your kids to swim from a youtube video than you would ever learn in one year here, and it'd be free. But on a serious note, I'm happy to pay double somewhere else where there is clear communication, consistency, cleanliness, and polite employees when we decide to pick up lessons again. I couldn't have made a better choice by sending my girls here to learn how to swim. The instructors are interactive and have fun with the kids all while teaching the essentials. Also, there is somebody who walks around constantly and is evaluating your child to see if it is time for them to be moved up to the next level. I love that it isn't based on the group, it is based on when each individual child is ready. And there are only three to four students per teacher. read more

We can't brag enough on Bear Paddle Swim School. We signed our son up before they opened and he loves it. He went from being terrified of the water to wanting to swim every chance he can get. He's progressed into an actual swimmer and he's so comfortable being in the water. The staff is friendly and makes every effort to make your child feel special. We have no complaints. Do not sign up to swim here! I paid up front for 8 lessons and because my son missed 2 due to illness they cancelled my account. I was never told it had to be consecutive and I was told from the beginning if he were sick or if my schedule changed they would accommodate. They ask for a credit card on file mine had a security breach and was cancelled. Sign up at the ymca and or silver lake. If you pay for up front lessons it's what you get. What a scam!!!! read more

I want to comment on Mallory's response to Jessica C., I'm her husband, our sons father. Your comment about trying to contact us and not hearing from us is a straight up LIE! You never tried to contact either of us on your own, you did not return any of our calls, nor mail us anything, you have both of our telephone numbers and our address. As service business owners ourselves we can professionally say you failed our son, you failed us. We expect you to own up to and take responsibility for your businesses mistakes, not lie about them. It wasn't until her negative review was posted that you offered to let him finish the two classes he missed due to being sick. We stayed in contact with your company prior to each lesson and were told no problem he can make them up. On the third week, when he was cleared by his doctor, your company turned him away, and told me he couldn't make up the two lessons. The sad part for you and your business is that we enjoyed having him in swim lessons with Bear Paddle and would have continued with swim lessons indefinitely.
