We had an amazing experience here. The staff were extremely helpful in determining the best options from the menu. We walked in 20 minutes before closing and still the staff were happy to see us. They gave us so many free extras so that they didn't have to throw away good food. They are closed on Sunday and we happened to be there on Saturday night. Even one of the owners was cheerful and welcoming. I highly recommend riding out into the countryside and visiting this place. The staff here really make the difference. read more

Fun visit and good food. We came around 2:30 right before when the pit closes The brisket was okay, ribs delicious and loved the turkey sandwich. The turkey is not super smoky and that is how I like it The bbq sauce is sweet. i prefer vinegar based so did not partake. Their sides are provided in a self serve area l. All the sides were good. My son had the chocolate sheet cake and it was amazing! I would come earlier for fresher sid'es and bbq. The view, animals and shopping were really highlights of the visit. I was informed they were just STARTING to pull orders from December 10, but it should ship by the end of the week. Sunday December 27 I finally got a reply to my email?!?! We ate here on a lunch recently. It was a good lunch. BLT's with toasted bread, bags of chips, a good carroty cole slaw and a piece of watermelon to top it off. A good lunch overall with tea also and for $11 so it was reasonable. Currently, they have pulled pork sandwiches only everyday for lunch except for Wednesday and Saturday for which they have a menu that changes. The setting is very nice at tables with comfortable folding chairs inside their new building. A lot to look at and take in. The service was very friendly and we were checked on several times while we ate. It was a good lunch and a good BLT. They used their Bear Creek Smokehouse bacon and it was good. The only suggestion we have is another piece or two of bacon per sandwich would make it tops in our book. That currently goes to the Central Perks ultimate BLT that is stuffed with bacon. read more

The staff was super friendly and helpful and the store side is a lot of fun to walk through but the food is definitely the highlight there. But that is not the best thing about Bear Creek Smoke house; the best thing about Bear Creek Smokehouse is the people and the owners. The Shoults Family gave me and my wife so much attention I went to the bathroom to see if someone had stuck an "I am special sticker" on my back; it wasn't there. After returning to my table I humbly noticed everyone was getting the same amount of attention. These people show love and respect the way we all should show love and respect. Some of the friendliest people you will find in any business hands down! For years that part of their business has not changed a bit. The drive doesn't make me think twice about how far it is, because I know I will be met with friendly service and great smoked food! My favorite is the turkey, I can just eat it cold turkey (no pun intended) the flavor is so good. Then when it gets down to the bone, I throw that in some beans and it's delicious in those too. Just sent in a normal, uninsulated cardboard box. It was thawed and warm to the touch. Unfortunately we felt that we had no choice but to toss it due to health concerns. My mom called Bear Creek to seek a remedy. She was told that there was nothing wrong w/ the product because it was frozen when it left Marshall and contains nitrites. Two attributes that still don't make it healthy to eat uncooked, room temp bacon! Several calls from her speaking to different people and even being told that escalation to a manager wasn't possible. No offer to send a replacement or refund her money. A complete rip-off from a business that clearly doesn't care about their customers. read more

We ordered a Cranberry Turkey breast from Bear Creek approximately 10 days ago, and paid for 2-day delivery to arrive today, November 22nd. We had intended the Turkey breast to be the centerpiece of our Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. When we hadn't heard anything from Bear Creek as of this morning, the day of delivery, I called Bear Creek and was told that the Turkey breast would not be delivered until after Thanksgiving due to a shipping problem. We asked to cancel the order, since we will have to scramble to try to find a replacement Turkey breast, and was informed that they would not cancel an order after shipment. Apparently, the customer bears all the risk of non-delivery with this company. We will dispute this charge when our credit card bill comes in, but in the meantime, buyer beware. read more

Wow, over ten years since my original review! The good folks at Bear Creek just go go from strength to strength. They have continued her to do their traditional great job of shipping fine smoked meats -- most notably turkeys and my personal favorite, their ham. (Not that there's a thing wrong with their turkey. I like it better than that of many of their competitors. I'm just not crazy about turkey. But they do have excellent smoked chickens!) But in top of their fine smoked meats, they have opened a new store/events space just a few yards in front of their older shipping facility. Designed by owner Robbie Schultz with the assistance with a local architect, it's a stunner. Very functional for sales of goods and available for private events. Great folks and great food. I could go on and on and on about this east Texas landmark. I could. I've given it five stars here, and it has rightly earned it! This place advertises on local television networks in the Shreveport-Bossier City, Louisiana area (which is close by!) but never do they show you how amazing this place is on those television advertisements. They'll show various members of this family business carrying on, and yukking it up on the front patio here with their witticisms, down home humor, anecdotes and whatnot, and it's all very cute and charming and all, it really is, but for a prospective first-time visitor and customer, you still can't make the proverbial heads or tails about this place from that thirty seconds of air time, and what it's really like here, or inside here, or even outside here. So, when you pull up here, you'll be totally in awe, or at the very least pleasantly surprised. Even here on the great wide Yelp, there was very little catalogued into photographic evidence prior to our initial visit. From the huge longhorns out front and turkeys in the straw out to the side outside, to the western saddles you can sit in while you dine at the counter (they serve Wednesdays and Saturdays only, from 11-1, or until the grub runs out!), the old school motor home, and gorgeous fireplace with the large moose head trophy over it on the inside, your mind will race, heart will pound, and your senses, everyone of them will be exhilaratingly titillated. " I'm sorry, not an acceptable response and there is no way we are going to consume improperly sealed meat! Disappointing Customer Service! I tried to place an order for a smoked turkey in order to have it shipped the following week to be close to Thanksgiving. However, after calling them and talking to a person that said she would let the shipping manager know not to ship till the following week. And, placing those instructions in the message area of the online order as directed by the person I talked to on the phone, they actually shipped the next day.
