We have wanted to try this place for a while so ventured out on a Saturday evening. Only 2 tables taken so we were worried. We were seated then forgotten. We were about to leave when another server asked if our server realized we had been waiting. The amount of flies inside was a super turn off. I heard good things of their burgers so I got a burger and my other half get the brisket sandwich. Both come with home made chips. The burger was good not great. I had asked for medium and it came medium well. Not much to say that made it special, except the smoked bacon. The brisket sandwich was just ok....the meat not fresh and would not recommend. Bear Creek enjoyed a well regarded, albeit brief, tenure in Brewerton before closing after just 9 months. Now the restaurant is back with a similar menu, new location and a new owner at 5480 Bartel Road in a building that once housed a Burger King and most recently, an RV dealership. Michael Piraino, owner of the former Brewerton Diner located right down the road, now owns Bear Creek. The building's history is recognizable from the outside, but take a step inside and it bears little resemblance to its predecessors. The Adirondack motif of the original location has been carried over to the new spot, with snowshoes, a two-man saw and other rustic decor decorating the walls. Wife and I were looking for a new place to try for our usual Saturday lunch and decided on Bear Creek. We got there just a little after opening and were sat immediately. You can tell just from the shape of the building it was formerly a fast food place, but it's been given a nice makeover. Only about a dozen booths/tables along with a nice large bar in the back of the building There were only a couple other people in the restaurant at the time, and our server was the only one working both all the booths sat and the bar. She gave us our menus and told us that all apps were half priced at the moment. The wife chose pretzel sticks and poutine off the apps menu as her meal, while I went for the avocado egg burger, a patty topped with green chile aioli, shredded orange cheddar cheese, a fried egg and breaded and deep fried avocado. Our food took a decent amount of time to come out considering there weren't a lot of tables sat, but knowing restaurants are short staffed, we didn't make a big deal about the around 25 minute wait. Food was good. Their pretzel sticks are delicious and come with homemade cheese sauce, a sweet mustard and their maple dipping sauce. My wife said she enjoyed the poutine, but it wasn't "life changing" in her words. I enjoyed their fries, and while my burger was good, I did not taste the green chile aioli at all. Well seasoned and cooked patty, toasted brioche bun and the deep fried avocado were all very tasty though. Prices were more than fair especially with the half price apps, everything was only $25. Our server was great, very nice, and perfectly attentive especially considering she was running the entire front of the house alone. All in all, we felt the food was decent, but could use a little improvement. They definitely have the potential to have amazing food and we'd go back and try other stuff in the future. read more

My family goes to Bear Creek on a regular basis and the service is usually pretty good. I had family in town and they wanted a hamburger so I recommended we go to Bear Creek! When we got there I explained we were a larger party (9 ppl) so we could split into two groups. The hostess was rude and told us, "the boss said no" and they wouldn't seat us. I tried to explain that it would be separate checks / two separate parties so why couldn't we stay and she just said no. As a regular I could not believe they would treat people like that. I was embarrassed that I recommend this place to my family and then they wouldn't seat us. We went down the road to 916 and they were fantastic and the food was delicious!! read more

Went here on a whim one day for a late lunch and was surprised to see how full the restaurant still was! One server was running the whole thing by herself and she was still very friendly and efficient. We got the pretzel sticks as an appetizer and the chicken sandwich to share, both were delicious and fresh. The atmosphere was quiet, but then again it was early afternoon in the middle of the week, so that could've been why, lol. We stopped here while traveling back from Montreal to Northwest PA as it was along the route back and we are so happy we found this place! The burgers were fantastic and they had a wide variety of beers, as a passenger on a long ride it was fun to kick back and relax with some good food and drink! Been 3 times, wont do a 4th. Nothing is worth ordering again. Food lacks heart, or any actual culinary skillset. 1.5 hrs and no tables turned, no food, and no idea why. Nachos were interesting - almost a win, until you eat them and find the 2inches of grease and fat on the bottom. A spoon with holes could probably fix that for you. Burgers are a hot mess, making something huge and sloppy doesnt make it a good burger. Pasta was a bowl of soup with a couple WHOLE cherry tomatoes dropped in it which were sunk at the bottom. So disappointed that I actually downloaded Yelp to write this review. I got the pattymelt and my husband got a mushroom burger with Buffalo cauliflower. The Buffalo cauliflower was basically steamed cauliflower with a touch of hot sauce. The fact that we paid $9 for that was disgraceful and unbelievable (see photo below). That leaves me to the pattymelt. The onions were not even sautéed and there was barely any cheese. The other burger looked like it had canned mushrooms on it- which, fine but could you have at least cooked them? We love to support local, but I just hate it when I pay for a meal that's expensive and a "treat" and it's absolutely dreadful. read more

The appalling experience that the owner did to a family was enough for me never to go back! Yelling, profiling, and making a scene over a small issue of the quality of food. This owner and servers obviously do not care for their job, customers or anything else. If the owner feels that behaving aggressively to a customer is the way to keep gaining business then he needs a wake up call. If your quality is not to the standards that it should be, fix it, but make the customer happy so they can be repeat customer. read more

The only reason am giving the two stars is one for the hospitality and one for the service both were outstanding and staff are friendly and fast now the food ... I ordered the Bear Creek burger and asked for it to be cooked medium. It came out well done. I had about 3 bites then asked for a box (so my dogs could eat it). I'm not one to complain or send food back, I simply won't return. My wife had the Philly cheesesteak a half sized instead of the full. She ate it all but said it was very salty. The pub chips were not good and had a disappointing aftertaste. We also tried the bang bang shrimp, which to be fair wasn't bad, but wasn't worth the price. Two beers and the food came to $63. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very nice but super slow and inattentive. A delight once she got around to refilling your water that had been empty 30 minutes. It literally took two hours to get main dish food. The shrimp appetizer was solid and we enjoyed it. The burgers where meh at best. The dessert flat out sucked. The owner was so mean to his staff in front of patrons it was embarrassing and we just felt so bad for those poor people working for such an abusive jerk. Won't be back. The waitress failed to tell my friends and me that if you order two burgers on Wednesday on the same bill, you'll get the $2.00 discount. When my friends and I got our bills, we were charged the regular price. From salads, to pasta, to burgers and steak, this is the best place to eat in all of Syracuse. Craft beer on tap is good as well. So happy we finally made it to Bear Creek! I passed by everyday on the way to work when they were remodeling the old Burger King and then COVID hit so we couldn't go. It was worth the wait! Fun atmosphere and abiding by all social distancing rules. There was both indoor and outdoor seating available. Waitresses were very nice and quickly sat us inside since all outdoor seating was taken. She told us about all the drink and food specials and quickly brought our drinks. The margarita was very good and on special for $5. I only wish it was bigger! Lol We had nachos to start since it was $2 off on Thursday. They came with queso, cilantro, pico, jalapeños and you can choose beef or chicken. Ingredients were very fresh and delicious. We asked for a few more chips to finish all the toppings because they were too good to waste. Soooo yummy! We ordered the You're My Boy Bleu and Smoked & Onions burgers for our meals and they were delicious. They came with french fries or you could choose another side for an additional cost. We love our burgers med/rare and they came out med/well-well. Only downside of the meal, but the flavor and toppings were delicious! The kids split the kids mac n cheese. It was delicious and homemade, but my daughter is a boxed mac n cheese girl so she didn't eat it. My son (and us adults) loved it! On the menu it said that it came with french fries, but the waitress said it did not. Luckily our burgers came with a ton of delicious fries, so we shared it with them. We didn't have room for dessert but they do offer some yummy choices. I want to try the peanut butter explosion next time! They have a full bar and good craft beers. The family and I tend to eat here every other Wednesday and the food is absolutely delicious. My father and I tend to get the snake bite pasta usually which has great flavor and a decent level of spice. My mother usually gets her burger and she loves how juicy and well seasoned it is. The few times I've changed up my order I've enjoyed what I've had. The only improvements I can think of is having more items (which I understand the lack of due to covid) and I wish they had the choice of regular mashed potatoes because I don't really like their three cheese mashed potatoes. read more
