Decent pub, good beers on tap, steel tipped darts obviously and a good menu. Fish and chips were real good.

Michelin- starred Cross does live's up to its reputation. Sumptuous, creative meals in a warm,…read moreinviting atmosphere. I recently brought a group dinner here for work and everyone loved the four course meal and the service was impeccable. My only nit, I thought the sea bass was a little salty.

Anyway, The Cross is just stunning on every level. A beautiful gastro pub (this is underselling it actually - it's Michelin level cooking and service) in a beautiful part of the world, serving absolutely world class food prepared meticulously and with absolute care and passion. My lunch consisted of (too much) delicious and freshly baked sourdough with salted butter, winter salad, coquelet (chicken) and an orange soufflé with choc ice cream. The salad was incredibly fresh and tasty. Complex flavours that paired together perfectly. The burrata was creamy and luxurious. The chicken was awesome - crispy skin and succulent meat. The hazelnuts added a next level flavour. And the soufflé was mind blowing - complete with the at the table addition of the sauce which soaked into the softness and created an incredible end to the meal. My cherry bakewell mocktail was ridiculous. So sweet and sugary, and felt like I was literally drinking a blended cake. Love this place and can't recommend highly enough for lunch or dinner!

A perfectly fine pub, not doing anything new or different but with lots of nice touches…read more We popped in here on Saturday evening at around 9.30pm. We just wanted a quick, quiet drink. It's at the point of the road where it stops being 'town' and becomes residential. There were a few people having quiet chats and a small group watching football. We went to the bar and were served straight away. We both wanted G&Ts and spotted that they had about four decent gins on display. We both went for Plymouth and these were served with Fever Tree tonic. Two double G&Ts came to £14 which sounds expensive but is about right for a premium gin. Staff were friendly but not over-bearing. They have quite a well stocked bottle bar and we had a bit of a chat about the Pimms cider. Food looked like your normal pub grub and there were a few chalk boards advertising Sunday lunch and chips in a pot with pulled pork and so on. I liked that there were boxes of toys and books for children- clearly a family friendly pub. The toilets are upstairs. A pleasant enough place to have a drink but not one to rush to.

Terrible service. Don't use QR codes to order at the table. Takes 25 mins to serve two drinks…read more Staff then explain that it's your fault for not ordering at the bar for it not being quicker. Save yourself the 50p tip you automatically give them online and go and order yourself. Shame they don't advertise the service would be better if you do exactly that. Wish I had known!!! Rude supervision.
