Staff are always readily available to help you find what you are looking for. If you visit the store late night (9:30-11:00) you will witness the night crew fastidiously and efficiently restocking the inventory. It's a great time to shop while fewer customers are present and you can find what you need before it disappears the next day. Yesterday while in the store late afternoon, I experienced a sudden-onset episode of a chronic illness and wanted to thank their amazing employee named Claudia who came to my rescue. She was of tremendous help: so very professional and understanding, and I can't thank her enough. I will never forget her kindness!

The grand opening of the 100 million dollar, 624,000 square-foot mall attracted 3,700 people within the first 30 minutes and 22,000 shoppers celebrated the new mall throughout the day. Throughout the ensuing years the mall has faced challenges like the sinkhole that developed beneath a children's play area and a second hole beneath an area of the Sears store in 1998. In 2009, the economic downturn led to then-owner, General Growth Properties, filling for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. It was reportedly the largest real estate bankruptcy in U.S. history at the time. The Sears store closed in late 2016, and JCPenney closed in June 2020, leaving Dillard's as the sole remaining original anchor store. After Covid there were only 40 businesses left in the mall. While the two anchor stores remain vacant, management has managed to increase the number of businesses to over 70. These include Regal 12 Cinema, the Lake Wales Bowl, with Strikes Bar and Grill, and the El Pilón Loko Puerto Rican restaurant adjacent to the food court. There is also a bounce house park play area for $12. While the mall looks like it has been through it I really loved my visit. it felt like a throwback to the 80's. I had bought them at LensCrafters in Michigan, so we decided to take them to the closest Lens Crafters which was about an hour drive from where we were. The lady was very rude and told me "we don't repair here". She had been in the back on her cell phone (we could directly see her)...She Handed me my glasses and walked away. We had to go to Walmart for a couple other things, so I decided to stop into the Vision Center to see if they could possibly help. Rachel looked at my glasses and knew in a second exactly what was wrong! She told me a part had fallen out and if I could find it, they could fix it! It was a tiny part so I wasn't hopeful. Daniel, the manager asked if he could take a look. He told me if I bought an "O" ring in a hardware department, I could slip it over the arm and it could buy me some time until I could fix it properly or until we made it back home. He didn't try to convince me to buy a new pair, they didn't turn me away and they both we SUPER KIND & HELPFUL! This encouraged my husband to ponder getting our next glasses at WM!
