Visited this shop on a chilly winter morning for the first time. It has its own free parking for customers, which is super convenient. It's undoubtedly the largest local brick and mortar selection for rocks, minerals and crystals and one of the most reasonably priced. It's really fun to browse too! You put the beads/minerals in a cute muffin tin or tray and keep track of prices with pen and paper. Shoulder bags/backpacks are placed in a locker or left in your car. It's organized and shoplifting proof. Some are priced per piece, while others are priced by gram. I had a really good haul today for about $30, including a smoky citrine tower for $13.40. The cashier was also friendly and really helpful with price checking, identifying crystal towers, and explaining the muffin tin shopping system. We also had a nice conversation on wire wrapping crystals (don't know her name but she had pink hair). Overall, it's become one of my favorite crystal/rock stores to go to and is a must visit for any crystal/jewelry lover! read more

My last stop of the day for minerals and I felt like I hit the holy grail. They have it ALL. Located two blocks from the beach strip, they have their own parking lot for patrons which any shopper would appreciate. I came into this space and although it's not categorized as a metaphysical store, I immediately felt its powerful energy. To me, that speaks volumes because I've visited so many shops in the 757 and zero have given me that pull. They have already made jewelry, drawers upon drawers of beads in all different forms and mediums. And my favorite, what felt like a mini warehouse of minerals. Be them polished or raw. A geologist vs a gemologist destination. I saw a station for cutting and polishing but didn't ask if they do any custom orders. I am giving this place a solid 5 stars off experience alone. Word of caution, this isn't your fancy, love and light store. It was hot when I went too. However, if you value minerals, crystals, stones which are uncut, still holds its individual energy, then you will respect this place. Yes it could use some TLC. It is dusty too, but these are essentially housing a lot of uncut rocks. What do you expect, right!? read more

I walked a mile from my hotel and had really high expectations. I got to the store 10 min before opening and sat outside. I had my headphones in but saw people enter at 10:55. I stood up and opened the door saying "Good Morning". The salesperson SNAPPED at me and said "WE Aren't open YET"! (10:57) and continued he conversation with the other guy who walked in. I just left Beads & Rocks, and had a traumatic experience there due to hostile customer service. I went into the store, looking for crystals to buy for arts and crafts projects. The store employee was a woman with gray hair that was dyed purple, and she was verbally aggressive with me when I was checking-out. She snapped at me when I was going through my purchase, trying to figure out how much the items I picked out would cost after being weighed, and made hostile comments that made me scared to be in the store. I felt like I was punched in the stomach upon exiting the store. I will not be returning to this store again. read more

YOU WILL NOT FIND GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE! As soon as you pull up to this place, there will be a man standing at the parking lot. He will ask you if you are are parking or going in. I understand there is a purpose of him being there so that people don't try to get free parking there to go to the beach. BUT, this guy does NOT look presentable, does NOT look approachable, and does NOT look or sound professional. It's quite disturbing and frightening to be exact. It makes you not want to get out of your car if you're alone. The store has quite a handful of selections such as beads, crystals, stones, jewelry chains, agate, etc. ..which is a very good thing. We came here to get matching anklets. There was about 13 of us. Some of us was looking for specific stones/crystals and we all found what we were looking for. The customer service started out OK. They answered our questions and even let us have the freedom to look around and even behind the counters. The customer service started going down hill when she had to re-cut the anklets to fit all our ankles (she should have measured our ankles first before cutting them the first time.) The way the one employee with glasses talked back to one of us was inappropriate after swiping her card right away when my cousin didn't want the item. No apologies or anything from the employee, instead she said "well i was trying to figure out what you wanted to do." She was showing us how overwhelmed and irritated she was with all of us. It seemed like she couldn't handle a big group. I also told the other employee with long hair to re-measure my anklet for the 3rd time to a bigger size, but still kept giving me the same small size! I came back to this place yesterday to fix the size of my anklet and to add beads to it because my cousin added the beads to it on saturday. There was another lady there with short hair and she told me straight up there is no way to put these beads on that chain. I told her my cousin got it done on Saturday here. She said she wanted to see what it looked like.. so we showed her a picture and told her the workers on Saturday used a wire to attached it. She refused to do it and told us she should've been out of the store 5 minutes ago! She at least tried to resize my anklet but she made a comment that the worker who cut it the first time cut it all WRONG and messed up. Went there today, was asked to lock up my purse, so I handed it to the clerk, she put it in a locker, and did not use the padlock to secure my purse. When this was pointed out to her, she and said she would watch it. So, I guess I am supposed to trust a stranger who doesn't trust me ? Really??? A comment was made to her that she was more worried about customers stealing from her and does not care about customer's personal belongings. After that was said, the clerk she was doing what she was told by her boss and didn't appreciate our bad energy, so we left. So I guess this Beads & Rocks employee can disrespect customers because she can't handle a person questioning their business practices. This must explain why their parking lot was empty....hmmm We were not disrespectful, we just asked a question, one question, and we have bad energy? Staff at any business should know how to hold a conversation or answer a question without being thin-skinned and defensive. read more

Ugh. I really do not know what to say. The staff at the store located in the strip told us this location had a larger selection of rocks and gems for us to look at. We knew what location they were exactly talking about. So we drove straight there. We parked in the Rite Aid parking lot and walked across the street. Mind you there was a shooting 12 hours prior and a car involved was yellow taped off. But, that has nothing to do with the business. My husband, 2 kiddos (8&13), myself and my mother in law opened the door to walk in. My mother in law, son and daughter went first, then my husband then myself. My husband was one foot inside the door when he turned and said, "NOPE! I do not feel safe going in there." It had a very very strong odor of marijuana. Right as he was talking to me I noticed it too. My husband is active duty Air Force and 2 years from retirement. He was not going to mess that up. Right as we walked out my mother in law was saying the same thing as she was exiting with the kiddos. That's all from me on this. We will get rocks and gems elsewhere. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST. THEY DO NOT DESERVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY! If I could put NO Stars, I would. The woman with gray hair, under her breath, said my daughter should not be brought into the store, after she broke a rock-THAT I SAID I WOULD PAY FOR! Another customer came in and the lady was abrupt with her and we noticed. Including not being kind, giving her attitude about bags in lockers and telling her it was her responsibility to look for what she wants, not her. When my son asked her a specific question, she started to argue with my 9 year old over a sphere or oval- HE IS 9 and she kept arguing with him. I told her to just stop and she looked at me like I was stupid. My daughter, 4 years old, found a painted rock in the store. There was no writing on the back and she told her she is not allowed to take it and it was meant to be in the store. My 4 year old, who loves to find and hide rocks, was DEVISTATED. Who does that to a 4 year old, SERIOUSLY?! She then argued with me over where my 4 year old daughter, as to where she got her rose crystal rocks! She kept telling me that my daughter and I were wrong for knowing where she got the rocks. After having such rude attitude to us, I responded with, Maybe you should recheck your store than. We were going to get a Peach Moon rock, and she marked it as $20.55, at $.15/gram. There is no way the rock was over 2lbs and she was going to charge me for $20 for the rock. That is when her attitude got worse with us. She told me I was the rudest customer she had every had. I had a friend with me and we kept our cool. I told her to refund my transaction and she was yelling at me, in front of OTHER customers. AMAZING SHELL COLLECTION! Super friendly staff! They will DRILL HOLES FOR YOU on the spot!!! I got these gorgeous shells drilled so I could put jump rings in for earrings and I am SO happy! It was $1 each per hole drilled but the shells were very inexpensive, so it was definitely not a problem. Lockers to put your bags away, and cupcake tins to put your goodies in while you shop. Definitely worth stopping in if you like to make your own jewelry :-) read more

Took my 5 yr old in here and he chose a "rock" from a grab box where everything was $5. Get home and my husband and I start looking up what it might be. We have some suspicions so we call my father in law who is well versed in these things. After one second via Facetime he identifies it as LEAD. A. CHUNK. OF. LEAD. That they sold to a 5 yr old. Just to make sure I bought a lead test at Home Depot and sure enough tested positive. I understand there could be uses for it. If I could give negative stars as a review I would! Literally the WORST experience I have EVER had. The OWNER (Jim Goldstein) is the most ILL-MANNERED human I have ever came in contact with. My boyfriend and I went to get some raw materials and first of all can I just say this place is an absolute MESS, it's so hard to find anything let alone figure out prices. I was in line waiting to check out and the owner comes in and basically is trying to check me out. First of all, he didn't even know the prices for his own items and second of all he was trying to do numbers in his head instead of using a calculator to correctly calculate my total. I'm pretty sure he was trying to up charge me. So, my boyfriend and I felt super uncomfortable we decided to not get anything and come back another time because we were in a rush to get somewhere else we needed to be. That being said when we said nevermind we would just come back another day the owner FLIPPED his lid on us!! He was so extremely rude and for being the OWNER of the shop it was completely UNACCEPTABLE!! Great stones and an awesome owner. We've been going to the Beads & Rocks shop for years! We actually buy in bulk to sell online through our candle business. Because they're local we were purchasing from them exclusively. Unfortunately, one of the staff members was so nasty to my guests who came to visit for the weekend. They'd been looking forward to coming to the oceanfront from Georgia. The sign on the wall of beads said to ask for assistance before touching anything. Well, I guess that was the wrong time to ask that question because she immediately shouted across the store that she wasn't coming over because, "all of y'all are over there!" I'm still trying to figure out what "all of y'all" means. My sisters husband immediately walked out to wait in the car. My husband had to help get the the threaded beads off the wall. While checking out, I was talking to my niece about how Rose Quartz would be the perfect stone to give to her friend and before I could explain to my niece the staff member interrupts to tell me that I was wrong! I wasn't even talking to her. She was absolutely unprofessional. I get that people have bad days but I should never feel like I want to cry coming out of a store. While checking out, my sister asked her a question about a piece and she stopped checking her out and told her to move over so she could tend to another customer because she doesn't have time to address questions while checking out. It was embarrassing because I've raved on and on about my experience with Jim the owner and how it's really convenient to buy bulk from a local business. Unfortunately, the experience was so traumatic that I will no longer be doing business there. I'd recommend getting in touch with the owner for a tour of his warehouse rather than going to the oceanfront store. Jim really does a great job curating beautiful pieces. But definitely go through the owner or his wife that way you'd get better customer service. The Beads and Rocks store is just that simple: hundreds of decorative beads and various rocks. It's a nerd, hippie and just plain creative people haven, the Beads and Rocks store is a cool little place to get your creative juices flowing or to just see some neat stuff. For just a few dollars, you could make your own beautiful jewelry, with all the hardware you would need in one store. Just blocks from the ocean, this little place has what we call character. Its rainbow painted exterior, aging hippies manning the counter, and go green atmosphere make this place a classic at the beach--taking me back to the old days (or at least 2001). Came here for the first time after always passing by. I collect stones. Me and my friend parked and then got a business call. We stood outside of the car for about 2-3 minutes and then an older man came outside. He yelled "are you coming in or just using us for free parking?" I yelled back "we will be in in a moment.. we are on the phone." He didn't hear me and kept yelling "what?!? Hello?!" I wasn't going to hurt my throat yelling and then I just quit trying. We would come in when we were ready dude, we weren't "just parking." When we went inside he was still very rude as well as a younger man who seemed to hate his job. Planned on spending a lot but the attitude made me not buy anything even though I did see a few things I liked. Five stars for character for sure. It's a hippy hole in the wall, but somehow I could easily spend an hour in this place and I have no idea where the time went. I don't even make jewelry or crafts or anything. There's just something mezmerizing about all those little baubles arranged by color and texture and shape in these shallow wooden drawers. Buttons, beads (wooden, glass, ceramic, metal, you name it), rocks, semi-precious stones and an assortment of other decorative doohickies. You have to open each drawer to discover the treasures inside. I have an OCD thing where I want to touch all the different beads. They don't seem to mind. Kids freak over this place (read: "free entertainment"). Here's a random note on the character comment. I drove by there the other day before they were open. What a great place! I didn't get the name of the guy who helped me, but he was stellar! I'm a local and just recently went in there....OMG! They had EVERYTHING! A classic example of "you cant judge a book by its cover." From the outside its a dive. The inside would not pass a white glove test. Yet, you can almost always find whatever you are looking for there. The have a kazillion beads in glass, natural stone, and synthetics. They have rocks and minerals galore and there is stuff tucked in every corner, nick and cranny. Allow some time when you visit because there is 12 years worth of stuff to look thru. The name of this place says it all. It's full of rocks and beads. I liked the place well enough but it is definitely lacking in organization. I have a decent "rock" collection and I was hoping to add something new to my collection. I spent a good bit looking around the store and found a few interesting items but nothing that really struck me. I agree with another reviewer that it is definitely a dive. I stepped on electrical cords and pistachio shells while perusing the merchandise. If my collection wasn't as big as it is this place would have thrilled me. I can't speak for the beads because I really wasn't looking through them but their bead collection seemed vast enough for all the attention I paid it. This store is SO cool! They offer a really great selection of rocks, gems and minerals (I didn't look at the beads). The gigantic geodes in the entryway are stunning. The owner's wife was running the shop when I stopped in. She was very friendly and helpful with my kids. They accept Mastercard and Visa, but if your purchase is under $15 they add on a $0.50 convenience charge. Not a big deal. I like the merchandise. Unfortunately i didn't get to purchase anything because i had left my money in our car and my brother would not loan me the money (even though i'd have paid him back upon reaching our vehicle) to patronize the store because the owner asked my cousin to place her purse in a small locker to which she would be given a key, not a problem in my eyes...but for whatever reason it bothered my family and i was too sunburned to walk all the way to the car and back then back to the car again. The owner let me in before opening time to browse and i was the only person in the store. He was also the only employee there so i cannot confirm or debunk the talk of him being rude to his employee underlings. He was nice to me though. It was really a bummer to have my stuff all picked out and then have to leave it because i had no access to payment. You are given a little muffin pan to put your beads in to separate them. I was asked to note the price and quantity of each bead (to save him from having to search for prices. A time saver) There are some awesome items in here. With the reviews here on yelp and the reviews elsewhere, it remains iffy whether or not i would return but i did not have a bad experience. So 4 stars for this little hippie craft shop. read more

Cool place! They have tons of awesome stuff, but it is very cluttered & hot in there. You cannot take your purse or any bag in the store. If you do they will tell you that you can put it in your car or they will hold it for you behind the counter. I love Beads & Rocks! It's very laid back and there are lots of interesting things to choose from. I'm a hippie at heart, so I really enjoy the atmosphere . It isn't super organized but thats part of it's charm, in my opinion. I will say that their quartz is overpriced, which is a shame.
