So I actually love this shop, but my last experience at bead boutique was one of the worst shopping experiences in my entire life. Not only was I basically ignored by the saleswoman, but when I decided to leave because of the lack of service the saleswoman physically blocked me from leaving, and only then did she offer to answer my questions. I smiled and I politely refused to be serviced and walked out. I could tell she was suspicious of me because she followed me out the door! As I was walking down the block, I heard someone calling after me. I turned and a woman (who was the other customer in the store and not the employee) said "hi can you give back what you took." I was absolutely dumbfounded. I couldn't believe this behavior. I said "I didn't take anything you're welcome to search my bag and body." The woman was actually kind about it, but I insisted on going back and confronting the saleswoman. I believe the saleswoman was shocked to see me back in the shop so I began the conversation and said "Hi I don't steal. You're more than welcome to search my bag and body." She accused me of storming out and leaving quickly and I said "yes, you were busy" (which is a polite way of saying she was ignoring me). She continued to say she wanted to help me and that she was now willing to help me. But it was a little too late for that since she was so very quick of accusing me of shoplifting. I read in the other reviews that this shop has cameras. If they do, they should check them first before running after customers down the block and accusing them of stealing. What a shame, I really wanted to make some jewelry here. read more

This is a bead lover's bliss! My imagination flowed as I looked at all the beautiful beads, charms and tassels. They sell premade necklaces and bracelets, too. There are some cute whimsical charms like animals and cupcakes along with cubic zirconium and stone ones. I only came in to kill time before dinner but ended up buying a beautiful lotus round disc surrounded by sapphire hued crystals. They sell silver and gold toned chains by the inch. I like that they are not behind a counter so you can examine them easily. Almost everything is displayed for hands to easily check out. I want to come back to replace a gold chain that faded. Cheryl was very nice and helpful and said the gold is guaranteed not to fade. Prices are less in other bead stores but the cz charms are prettier with more choices here. I visited bead boutique about a year ago while on vacation. The store is not far from the Beverly Center. *There is no parking lot at this locaton. Bring a lot of change for the meters and put in the full amount. I learned this the hard way when I got a ticket while visiting Kings Beads down the block. BB has lovely strands of beads and semi precious gemstones but what I loved the most were their charms. I bought an angel wings charm, some star charms along with a strand of beads which featured a line of rhinestones around the middle of each bead. I spent around 60 dollars which is not cheap by any means but the prices were on par with the other bead stores in the area. *I would stick to buying the unique items here and purchasing common beads downtown or at places like Bella Findings House or Fire Mountain Gems. I had a wonderful conversation with the two women running the shop that day. I did not feel pressured to buy anything, they were kind to me and answered my questions. The store is small but I see that as an advantage. It allows you to pinpoint what you want without being overwhelmed and allows the staff to make quick suggestions. I am an avid bead and gemstone collector and amateur jewelry designer and I have visited almost every bead store in Los Angeles. The store is clean,welcoming and well curated. Definitely stop by when you have the chance. Minus one star for the prices on some items. read more

I met the owner, Pamela, from a visit last year. I found her to be very kind and personable, but in my most recent visits this year in May and August, things were a different story. A few days ago, I came in looking for several beads to add to a necklace, and was ''helped'' by her employee, an older and extremely uptight lady who seemed to regard me as a threat from the moment I walked in. At one point, I asked if she had a magnifier as some bead holes were hard to see. She went to the lighted magnifier behind the open counter, with merchandise displayed DIRECTLY BEHIND IT, for customers to access, and said "what we can do is...", so I followed her, as I thought she wanted me to come around the counter. At that point she went into panic mode, waving at me not to come closer, and practically yelled "NOOO!!!". At that point I told her that I was about to leave, that I didn't like being treated as a threat. She smoothed it over somewhat, and finally, after repeated requests, got me a magnifier from the drawer to use instead. As I searched for beads, she asked, rather rudely, "so what's going on here, do you want us to design the necklace, or string it, exactly what? Once again I explained I was going to buy some beads and string it myself. As I waited to pay at the front counter, and she knew that, she came up w another customer and asked if i could move over and give the woman space to design her project. As I made room for her, I asked "can I pay and leave now? She instead continued to work with the new customer and her friend. Eventually she got my order ready, and I noticed she had included a couple of beads I didn't want, so she told me to take out what I don't want, "or whatever". She walked away and continued to work with the other customers, who arrrived after me. As I continued to wait, for around ten minutes more, at least, I finally told both her and the new customers that they were extremely rude, at which point the miserable clerk said ''Don't you..'', so I cut her off and said ''No, you don't, you should have taken care of me!!!'' and left. When I contacted the owner, Pamela, a few days later, she already completely took her "coworker's" side, as she called her, telling me she didn't need to hear a "big long story", that she had cameras. She said I freaked everyone out by confronting their obnoxious behavior as they absconded my time. Somehow, I didn't feel bad, at all. 'She said she was very concerned with MY behavior, and that she had a friend who was just murdered... (huh, what the heck was she even remotely talking about??!) I immediately cut her off, explaining that I'm not a threat, nor a murderer, and I just wanted my time to be respected, and that I'm not going to beg to come to her store and that I had nothing to apologize for, and if she didn't want my future biz, I wouldn't come back. She said yes, that she'd be more comfortable if that was the case, and I agreed and hung up. Surreal, yet I'm always all too happy to move on from negative, toxic people and energy, I am ble if you're an uptight, entitled type yuppie woman in particular, as that type is pretty much all I saw whenever I went there, instead of a non-uptight, non-entitled man in particular, you might have a better experience. I would instead go to Beadahs on Ocean Park in Santa Monica instead, as their store is FAAAR bigger ('bead boutique' is closet sized), and customer service is wonderful. Also, their selection and prices are way way better, as I have since discovered. The owner's name at Beadah's is Shannon, a wonderful and SINCERELY, actually, down to earth lady who knows how to treat her customers and was an absolute pleasure to deal with, along with her staff. But, definitely, avoid the other store like the plague! read more

Cute beads. Non- durable work. Bought 6 things here. 4 needed repairs after only a few times being worn. Had one item fixed before the pandemic. Came back to pick up the rest. One item was lost or not provided. Owner didn't offer to look for it. Earrings were not repaired as originally agreed. Not repaired at all. Owner does not think it's her responsibility to stand by her work. She believes the best defense is an Offense, so she insulted me. I worked in (fine) jewelry for several years when I was younger. I have never seen a shop owner act like her. Shameless. Entitled. A real cauchemar. My delay in picking up the items is unrelated to their shoddy craftsmanship and her failure to repair as agreed when I dropped them off. Too bad Ritual Adornments moved out of state! Even Neiman Marcus is a better value than this place. Who wants to spend $$ on stuff that falls apart? read more

I love this place! Been coming here since it opened in my neighborhood. Pamela is so helpful and does beautiful work and has great taste. Also the atmosphere is cozy and clean and hip. Would be a great place to bring a group of friends and make jewelry. Prices are reasonable too. I brought a vintage Chanel bracelet here with a worn down faux pearl and for $10 they replaced it with a real freshwater pearl along with the wire, etc. While I waited I found some stunning tigers eye beads and some unpolished natural lapis beads which are now being turned into two super long necklaces. After having a huge breakfast we decided we should walk around 3rd street and relax. I saw Bead Boutique from across the street and I ran right over. I love beads, beading and associated things so I figured this would be a lovely place to browse. The sign on the window said Closed but we stood there for a minute trying to discern their hours. The sign had their hours listed under the word 'closed' so I was confused if this was the list of the hours that they were NOT open. This seems unlikely but since it was around 11:30 and their sign said the were open at 11, I figured I was reading it wrong. Plus, there was a women sitting in their doing some beading. She looked at us for a little bit and then opened the door. I asked if she was open and she curtly replied, 'yeah, we're open'.' It was almost as if she was talking down to me because I had tried to read the sign. Okay, well with the locked door and the closed sign it was a little confusing. I was only in their a minute because this lady had put me in such a bad mood. They had some very nice stuff and a few unique things I had never seen. But, it was insanely overpriced. There were tiny little pendants that were $7. 7 DOLLARS?!? I'm talking tiny pieces of metal roughly the size of my pinkie nail. I've seen the same pieces at other stores for 50 cents. It was ridiculous. What with the high prices and the not so nice lady we were out of their pretty quickly. When we left my friend said, "That lady was sort of bitchy." However, I gotta dock 2 stars off of that for the snotty service and high prices. I design jewelry and rarely come here to buy essentials - but I do like to stop by to see what unusual beads or stones they have. A couple of unique beads always add a nice flair to a necklace. But I digress... Come here if you need assistance making jewelry, buy a pre-made piece of handcrafted jewelry, or get your hands on beads not available anywhere else. This place is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. They do have quality beads, but you can find equal quality at plenty of other places for less (Crown, Beadniks, online). For the prices that they charge, you would expect fabulous service. If that had been the case, maybe I would have been a little more forgiving. The man and woman working there could not care less about my being in their store, and I was the only one there! Furthermore, I was not impressed with their selection. Yes my friends, parking is a pain in the you know what in this neighborhood, so get use to it, it's 3rd Street and LOS ANGELES! I on the other hand, found a spot right in front on a Sunday afternoon. Took in my loose pieces of stones that I had, and they whipped up a new set for me. I was going to do it myself, but for a minimal fee, I thought, let the pros take care of me, and they did. They carry every precious stone under the rainbow! And, I thought the prices were decent for what it was. You get what you pay for, and I'm a huge believer when it comes to supporting small businesses. So, we came up with some really cool ideas for my earrings, and I love them! For $30 and about 20" of sterling silver chain, earrings, and making a pendant for me, I was set. I found my new addiction! read more

I had a really great Saturday morning here learning how to wire wrap. I had never really 'beaded' before and was looking for something to do. The staff was really helpful and nice. There was a good selection of beads and wires so much that I was overwhelmed, but they kindly focused me in. The store was cute and warm feeling and really well organized and pretty neat If you're interested in learning some basic or more advanced techniques, call and find out what classes they're offering (Note - if you're the first to call, you get to chose the class!). And the day of your class you get 10%off all purchases that day! I bought like crazy and went home to put my class to use and was surprised that I could actually make jewelry. Ok....first and foremost: Parking blows rotten donky d*ck. You need a permit to park in the residential area and the front and sides have a few parking meters. I have no idea were you would park if those were taken. That being said, they have a wonderful selection and the teachers there are patient. My friend and I took a beginners class for $45. The beads they have are amazing and you can buy in small quantities because they sell them loose. The beads are a little expensive, but are excellent quality and is closer then treking to Downtown. Customer service was exceptional as well. Our teacher (Sara) was great. We are taking her next class to learn more. read more

A girl's playground =) The staff has always been nice, patient and helpful to me. The pieces are unique and they last a long time. Admittedly, the prices are higher than what we'd get from Forever 21 but the quality is much better and we are getting a custom-made piece so there is that. Oh, and I found a parking spot right in front of the door when I went yesterday evening. Over the past few years, I've never had to look for parking for more than 10 min's. Parking is horrible. You can try behind the building, but be prepared to do a few loops arounf the block to find parking. This store is quite expensive, but since they sell some loose beads and strands, you can buy a few gems to add you the rest of your supplies to make it gorgeous. The people were nice enough, but expect to spend some dough. Beads are no cheaper than $1 a piece. I left there with about 5 of each 3 diferent kinds of beads/gems, and spent $25! Ouch. But they have excellent quality and some good stuff you won't find anywhere else. read more

As I had an emergent today to do a 1/2 necklace and had a bad experience and insane price from another neighborhood bead shop, I remembered this' place (which I should have come here in the 1st place). The lady behind the counter was friendly and as we could not find the same tread for my necklace, she offered me alternate color and charged me 1/2 price to do my WHOLE vintage necklace! and she did it within a hour. When I picked it up, I was very very pleased with the result. Glad I did not pay an insane money from the other shop to do 1/2 of my necklace! I can find things here that I can't find anywhere else and on top of that the prices are a fraction of what you might find at Fred Segal or Barney's and other stores. But the jewelry by comparison is so much prettier! I love love love this bead store. The people who work here are so nice and helpful when I come to them with my jewelry making dilemmas. The environment of this small store inspires me to no end. I always walk out with more than I planned. It is true that it is more expensive than other bead stores. However my argument for coming here over other bead stores is that you don't have to hunt through a ton of crappy beads (plastic, and junky beads) to get to the "good stuff" (precious stores and gold charms, ribbons, chains). Bead Boutique has a perfect selection of interesting beads in gorgeous colors and shapes. If you are able to come during the week, the parking is fairly easy on 3rd street. I found this place on yelp and was SO glad I came here!! The girls were AWESOME and so helpful and easy to work with. I brought in one of my favorite bracelets that had broken and lost a few beads. They had the exact pyrite spacer beads I needed to replace the missing ones and restrung my bracelet. All this for less than the cost of having to send it back to the designer for repair. They had a wide selection of all beads and findings and I was particularly impressed with the all the types mini (3mm) faceted stone beads. I will definitely be coming back to make more fun things! Overall this was a great experience. The repair only took about 20 minutes but I could have easily stayed for hours looking at everything they had. I had a good experience here. I signed up for a class, but it was pretty unnecessary because I didn't learn anything I hadn't already figured out on YouTube. So I used the time to ask a lot of questions and show Kristen my ideas. She spent a long time with me helping to pick out chains and stuff for nice finishing touches. This is the only store that had charms that didn't just look cheap to me. Also got some beautiful beads on sale. It might be a little bit expensive, but you don't have to dig through cheap looking stuff. Also the service was great. read more

SUCH A MISTAKE! Wish I had looked at the yelp review before wandering into this place. There's a reason they have four dollar signs next to their name. WAAAAAAY over priced. I'm so disappointed. I only bought one silver chain and one gold filled chain and a $12 drop to hang on the gold chain. After she had already cut the gold filled chain 25" (normal length, not super long) I found out it was $38! For a thin chain! I walked out of there dazed, having spent $80! Wondering what the hell happened. This place does not save you money "doing it yourself". I wanted to go back and return the overpriced chains but really, they had already been cut, so I'm sure it wasn't possible. read more

Been here twice. First trip was great-they helped me wire wrap a bead so I could turn it into a fab pair of earrings. The second time I went there I spent much more time looking around and it was a sale weekend. What bugs me about this place is the system of picking out the beads. You put your selections on a tray, then they ring them up and put them in a few little ziplock bags. But they don't label the bags as to what beads are in them. It's up to you to remember which bead is what...not so easy when you're getting a few of this and a couple of that and end up with more than 3 varieties to remember. Also, it could be very easy for them to accidentally charge the wrong price if they forget what bead is what and don't go look it up. Fortunately they seem to know every bead in their so that hasn't been a problem. I'm pretty sure they did write the types of beads on my receipt, but as I said, when you buy maybe 10 or so different styles of beads, it's hard to remember which is which. Parking is a royal pain. We parked on a side street and as far as we could tell it was a valid spot, and others were parked nearby. Well, apparently it was some sort of permit only strip, which was not at all clear from the signs. I used to get around LA by bus, so that wasn't something I noticed my first time in....I think I'd simply walked down from the Farmer's Market. But despite the negatives, I will definitely go back. But I'll be sure to bring a notepad to write down what I buy. read more
