However they do take walk-ins. The vibe is old NYC barbershop. It's clean with plenty of seating, great lighting. Each station is personalized by the barber. I highly recommend Alex. Very RUDE. It says - "Walk in's welcome" I understand there will be a wait if they are with customers or have someone coming in. My son is 7 years old just needed a trim takes about 20-30 min or so. We sat patiently I work in a hospital and I know customer service. The woman said "Do you have an appointment?" I told her no but I don't mind waiting. She responded with "well you have to wait we have appointments" but her tone was very unwelcoming as she rolled her eyes and looked into her appointment book and looked at a gentlemen in the back and asked if he would do it. She didn't want to be bothered and was unfriendly. Unfortunately first impressions last a lifetime. I'm a paying customer not asking for favors and don't demand services just a person driving by that wanted her son to have a haircut from a local place next to my publix. Having to write this through tears because I just drove home with the worst haircut of my life. I'm deaf. I wear hearing aids which have to be removed during a cut. My barber, May, seemed to understand and we took some time to get on the same page about what I wanted first. I wear my hair very short, like a boys/men's cut. It's an easy cut; #2 clippers on the sides and back, leave it longer on top, I comb it forward and it's got a nice wave...blend a little in the back so it's not a "bowl cut." She asked about the hairline, and I told her she could clean it up JUST A LITTLE, but to please leave it NATURAL. The first thing she did was start on my hairline, and spent 75 percent of her time fussing with just my hairline, shaving it in a perfect straight squared-off line across the back of my head. Literally did the EXACT OPPOSITE of what I asked. It looks beyond stupid. There are no words. I told her #2 clippers back and sides; instead, she mostly used a comb and scissors with the clippers only close to my hairline and around my ears. It's not a fade, it's not complicated, it's one freaking length around the back and sides. When I said it wasn't short enough, shit hit the fan. She grabbed her clippers and started going at me, frantically slapping the clippers into my head as she tried to get my hair shorter. She was obviously angry and took it out on my skull and hair. She then cut the top of my hair, where I like it a little longer, barely taking off 1/8 of an inch. The sides are super short now and the front is flopping into my eyes and there is just this horrible disconnect... nothing made sense, it looked bizarre. I mentioned that I thought the top was too long, and again, she went at my hair with a vengeance! She chopped it almost as short as the sides, she cut it a completely weird shape, she took her scissors and started frantically chopping down into my hair like she was angry. Unfortunately, my hair is already really thinning towards the front. I have no idea what her problem is or why she was unable to execute a simple, common haircut that you see everywhere, but I will never return and I will steer anyone I can away from this place. I don't want or expect anything; I don't want an apology, I don't want to give them a chance to "make it right," and I don't even want my money back. I'm not confrontational, I didn't want to make a scene, and being deaf makes communication that much more difficult, however, we DID communicate extensively before I removed my hearing aids, but she clearly just didn't know what she was doing. There is no fixing this, taking any more off will just make me bald. I just have to live with it for a few months and eventually find someone skilled enough to execute a basic short haircut. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Last year I was going to public's and had recently moved here. I owned Barone and company a hair cutting shop for men and women. Having owned this shop for years and never needed to go for a haircut which I have high and tight, now if you know what that is there is no room for error it's so short. I've tried many different shops and since I sold mine and never left satisfied with the cut I walked out with. With no expectations I saw Beacon Light and it was a throw back to my shop which was in Beacon NY. With nothing to lose I wonder in any met the owner Tina. She gave me a cut that I had been looking for ever since I sold my shop. She is is talented and I count the people on one hand I say that about. I am moving to Saint Petersburg within a few months and don't look forward to changing my barber. I would recommend Tina and Beacon Light as the place to go if you haven't tried it already. read more
