    Beacon Hill houses

Why Yelp a neighborhood? Because it's the one of the most desirable and picturesque neighborhoods in the country. Beacon Hill isn't just a neighborhood. It's a tourist destination. It has history, it has charm, it has old world style. It is known for its Federal, Greek Revival, and Victorian-style homes; narrow, cobblestone streets; brick sidewalks; beautiful doors; and gaslit, treelined streets. I'm a big fan of these gorgeous townhouses and rowhouses. The architecture and layout reflects colonial Boston. Massachusetts State House, a prominent landmark on Beacon Street, is a Federal architecture masterpiece. Aside from walking around all the charming and expensive homes, you can visit Charles Street, which is lined with restaurants, antique shops, and boutiques. Beacon Hill has been home to many notable people, including Louisa May Alcott, John Cheever, Michael Crichton, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Robert Frost, Sylvia Plath, John Kerry, and Uma Thurman. Stroll through the Beacon Hill neighborhood for the ultimate house envy.

What a wonderful neighborhood. Small streets with tall ivy covered brick brownstones with rooftop patios, adorable shops, beautifuly maintained buildings whose historical value is as obvious in its architecture as it is with streets like Revere. For my Bay Area buddies Boston is impressive. Beacon Hill is like the SF Marina's wealthy cousin. I see more Europe in Boston than i do California and as a big city girl Beacon Hill is the type of neighborhood i dream of living in someday. The neighborhood residents we met were so awesome and so proud of their homes obvious in the well manicured and clean sidewalks and entryways, gardens, and storefronts..

Whether it be in my own city (Indianapolis), abroad or in other US cities, I love to seek out historic neighborhoods that are oozing in charm. These neighborhoods often make for great walks and are within arm's reach of tasty local eats and shops. Beacon Hill is no exception to this rule. From the window boxes filled with daffodils and pussy willow branches to the quiet cobblestone alleys, I found myself in Beacon Hill twice during our three days in Boston. On Charles Street, the main artery of the neighborhood, you'll find bed and breakfasts, gourmet markets, ice cream and more. If you find yourself on the edge of Boston Common, you are within arm's reach of Beacon Hill - don't miss out!

Just had a walk with friends in this neighbourhood.

Although most of the building just apartment on the Beacon hill, I just like to have a walk here. The area just looks very different compared with the rest of the city. Most of the apartment just look rich and expensive, It really does remind me some neighborhoods back in UK. This area actually has a long histroy as background, if you are interested at it. you can find the Founders Memorial in the Boston Common and read about it. If you travel here by bike, that you got to be careful. Even For just walking, I could really slide down from the top of the hill to the end of the street, without trying. the hill isn't really high, but just quite tilt. it could be funy when there are not that much cars around. Around this area, there are couple other sights shouldn't be miss, such as Massachusetts State house, that place just looks amazing. and some othe mounuments. And the shopping street just across the Boston Common. in case you like to buy something. I really like this place, very diferent and historical.

Awesome 3 years spent in BH - Anderson and Revere - Rent was ridiculous for the location... considering Louisburg Square was 2 blocks from me... Pro - Historical awesomeness... Cute lanes... Like, 10 pubs within walking/staggering distance... WF across Cambridge St... Red line stop.... so awesomely central ! Longfellow bridge... Charles River Esplanade... great running route along the river... best in the world ! Great hill training ! The Paramount, Upper Crust, and Cafe Vanille on Charles St... The super booze shop on Charles, and Savenor's !!!! ... Well - Charles St is just plain awesome Short walk to the Common... Very short walk to work.... Con - Not much... Winter can be brutal... snow on sidewalk... piled high ! Sucks to own a car... (I didn't).. especially in the winter Rodents... Ace Hardware on Charles St has a great selection of traps and poisons....

This whole city is just so beautiful and a great way to take it all in is appreciating the buildings on these little streets...ESPECIALLY on Beacon Hill! Take a moment to maybe risk causing some traffic, getting in the way of pedestrians to stand in the middle of the road and stare down this street straight down the middle; basking it all in. A must do Local Flavor of Boston to soak up all that gorgeous architecture.

This part of Boston is very pretty and yelling to be photographed, but beware of the word "hill", because in fact it's full of almost vertical hills that you have to go up and down, and you'll end up exhausted in less than 10 minutes. I thought I'd end up in heaven as I was sweating, and I couldn't enjoy the rest of the day in Boston because my feet were killing me. The tourist trolley is not an option, as it can't get into the narrow streets. My recommendation is to make it your last stop before taking a taxi to your hotel. It's good for kids if you want to exhaust them :)

    2) Take a pic in Acorn Street, it is apparently the most photographed street in the US.

Above & Beyond review Christinas Ltd clothing shop Westerly:…read moreI am local about 20 mins away. My husband & I decided to spend a rare night out. We went to the United in Westerly for an Improv show. Oooph... I was freezing we all know the effect of a nice summer evening & then you hit the A/C. Hence, I had 2-3 minutes to find a "sweater" before the show started. I ran out of the theatre & into one of the ONLY shops open; Christinas on the corner. IMO, I somewhat rudely ran into the store & said I need something reasonably affordable to keep me warm at the show. The woman who waited on me (I now, know as Kim) dropped everything she was doing, as I was running around like a loon; & I finally found a "short" zip up jacket myself for $79.00 & thought, "this will do". BUT, Kim came around the corner & said WAIT, come here & try this on; Kim put me in a beautiful long crocheted white LONG "duster" for $69. WOW in front of the mirror, along with my already white dress I looked like a Princess rather than a "tennis player" LOL With that service I assume she was the owner, but no, my husband & I visited again on 7/14/23 and AGAIN 1 of the only shops open in Westerly @ 8pm on a beautiful summer FRIDAY evening they were OPEN, even though tons of people were "window shopping" elsewhere, Christinas had a fair share of at least 8 woman in their shop "buying". I bought more items bath oil & a vase. HEADS UP rest of Westerly businesses, when tons of people are still walking around weekend evenings & a but lightheaded from beer & wine, selling them your wares is a VERY GOOD IDEA...just sayin'

Christina, Ltd... you're marked down as one of my favorite stores to window shop. If only I could…read moreafford anything in here. =( Well, I could but.... I can't see myself forking over $50 for a lace shirt or $100 for a dress. =( MEH. Christina, Ltd is a fabulous find - the store exudes inspiration, hope and all things encouraging. It has a lovely and uplifting ambiance. It reminds me of eating lemon and orange sorbet near a crystal clear blue lake. =) This store caters to women only - dresses, shirts, sweaters, accessories, journals, soaps, pillows, shoes and other random baubles. There was a wire fabric boat that I wanted to get. Most of their clothes are from Free People, which is a pretty pricey brand. Definitely could spend a lot of time in here and if you're lucky you can find some cool digs in their sale bin. Almost bought a black jagged skirt for $20 but, it was a bit too big. Have fun finding all the little random inspirational and motivational notes throughout the store!
