The multi room refurbished warehouse…read moreis filled to the brim with new and lightly used clothing and household items (for other thrifters it reminded me of Pop and Bernat Mill Antiques) each room was organized, clearly labeled, and well lit. I also like that they had a donation ticket kiosk at checkout , where you could pick a tag and that food pantry item would be purchased for a Rhode Islander in need. The employees I interacted with were pleasant and efficient. The prices were on par with other competitors. They also have an off street parking lot directly across the street from the warehouse. This business fills up quickly (they have a waiting line outside when they hit capacity) with patron, so my best tip would be to arrive early, so you have ample time to browse all of the different sections of the warehouse.

Wait isn't king though. Didn't like that they overcrowded the pictures and frames so much that it was very hard to see what was there. So far, nothing I bought there has turned to leaves or offered to grant me wishes, so I think it's legit. This medium-size store puts the emphasis on women's clothes, which I didn't look at, but is worth browsing for housewares and random stuff. I got a very good deal on antique plates that were just hanging about in a bin -- shhhhh! if we speak too loudly, they'll start vetting prices. Not a furniture-y thrift.

A treasure hunt with charm and value…read more Penny Wise Consignment is one of those places where you walk in "just to browse" and somehow leave with a bag full of finds you didn't know you needed. The shop is well‑organized without losing that fun, treasure‑hunt energy that makes consignment shopping so addictive. Clothing, accessories, home goods--everything feels curated enough to be worth your time, but still priced like a true local gem. What really sets Penny Wise apart is the staff. They're friendly, patient, and genuinely invested in helping you find something that fits your style or your home. There's a sense of loyalty and community here--you can tell regulars come back not just for the deals, but for the people. Inventory rotates often, which keeps things fresh, though it also means you've got to be quick if you spot something great. A little more space or updated displays would push this place into five‑star territory, but honestly, the charm is part of the appeal. If you love good value, unique pieces, and a shop that feels like it's run with heart, Penny Wise is absolutely worth the stop. Enjoy

Prices are a little higher than most, but overall, a pretty decent selection. Wonderfully friendly owner - so ask if you're looking for something in particular!

The wife and I were strolling through downtown Westerly on a beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon and…read morepopped in. It's a smaller antique store, but somehow, they managed to pack a lot of merchandise in there without it feeling cluttered. On the contrary, the store appears well organized, and it was easy to find prices on items. Admittedly, I'm no antique expert, but to my untrained eye, they had a good selection of antique furniture that was in good condition, and not unreasonably priced, in this layman's opinion. In no way would I describe this shop's wares as 'junk,' as other reviewers have, at least during my visit. A man who I presume was the owner stayed behind the counter during the entire 15 minutes or so we were there. He did not greet us, but then again, he let everyone browse at will, so I did not have any interaction with him. My wife particularly liked a set of four jadeite salt, pepper and other condiment shakers that were a beautiful shade of green like pistachio pudding. Alas, at $150, they were out of our budget.
