Large, shady trees, ample space for the kids or pups to run and play and varied areas for groups to congregate. This one has it all! I attended a gathering here and had a delightful time. There's a spacious parking lot, so if you're coming in via car, you can park and walk in. You'll cross a darling little stream over a tiny bridge and come up on a large pavilion. In fact, there are several pavilions scattered throughout that you can reserve for your group event. There are a few different playgrounds, a skate park, bathrooms and an impressive off-leash dog park on the south end. We spent most of our time at the dog park letting the pups run and play. It's a remarkable use of space-right up against an area that would likely not be very usable otherwise, but it's been turned into the perfect area to throw a ball for your four legged kiddos. It's got shade, seating, water fountains and a few climbing features to keep the pups engaged. This is definitely a park that I look forward to returning to.

Unlike many other courts, each court here is actually separate from each other and there is plenty of space in between each one. There is also a really cool system to determine who is up next when you out your rackets up. Which is just a simple wheel/arrow that can be turned to identify the group that is up next. The courts and nets are also all well maintained

They kept the "castle park" feel (that's what i called it as a kid), but made it more all-abilities friendly. It's well built, cute and fun for all ages. The bathrooms are decent. They have automated flushing toilets and faucets, no mirrors, but functional and open. There are baseball fields across the parking lot as well. Great park.

I "wood-n't" be lying if I said it's lost it's cool and while it has shadows of the past with fun equipment all of it is waaay too hot on a sunny day! My 2 year old tried climbing on the equipment and started to scream when she sat down trying to go down a slide that was waaay too hot! Another young toddler had the same thing happen to her. We arrived at the roughly same time as 3 other family and all of us left within 10 minutes because the equipment was too hot. To some extent I get it's out of anyone's control but there is playground equipment that is less conductive of heat creating a better experience for everyone.

Well, this is a different place than it used to be. As a kid, I would go here with my dad. It was a…read moreschool then, and we'd sled down the hill. Some very fond memories of my dad getting the old inner tubes, blowing them up, and tubing down. He took my little brothers a couple times and I went as a pre-teen and the hill seemed much smaller then. As a teen, my first ever paying job was here. Again, it was still a school, and they had baseball diamonds where I was an umpire for tee-ball. Such memories. When they got rid of the school, I was curious to see what would happen. What sprung up in its place was a park that the next generation of kids will have to fill their memories. Instead of the school, and a winter-only sledding hill, this is a full-blown summer park. Apparently splash pads are a thing. Safer than a pool (at least for drowning) and still built to keep you cool in the heat of the summer, there's a big ol' splash pad here that's built for the little ones to stomp around and get wet. Bring the sunscreen. As others have mentioned, there's a lack of shade here, so you'll want to protect yourself from the sun. And it's probably best as a weekday reprieve. It swarms with kids on the weekends and you might get elbowed around. Beyond the splash pad, you've got some playgrounds that are geared towards different aged kids, some courts, and a whole lot of grass. This park covers the bases for lots of kids of different ages and will surely be one of the places to provide them with fond childhood memories.

Pros: * It's not busy. Probably because there are more attractive options that people prefer to visit, but we can be happy that it's quiet. * The "lake" in the center of the park is pretty and home to a variety of wildlife that make for pretty pictures. Cons: * You're right next to the highway, so traffic noise is pretty loud when walking along the path. * The surrounding buildings are less than beautiful, and the juvenile detention center is right there. I never saw any commotion, but it's not really an attractive landmark. * There's a good amount of trash everywhere. Maybe a few more garbage cans along the route might help? Overall, it's *fine* if you are in the area and want to walk along the trail to get your steps in for the day. But if you're hoping for a spectacular park, you may be a little disappointed.

The vibe is this--unexpected parks, well-maintained, but pretty simple and quiet and small. It feels like they've taken a quantity approach, and rather than pack people into massive megaparks (oh, they've got those too--looking at you, Veterans Memorial) they have these tiny parks tucked into the crevices between houses and neighborhoods. Bicentennial is a case in this point. Located right there on 7000 S, it's actually not so tucked away, but all you really see is a long field and some trees at the end. If you drive into the neighborhood, you'll park along the road and find a small pavilion, some picnic tables, and a wonderful playground. That's pretty much the entirety of the place, and it clocks in at just over an acre and a half. I think the idea is lovely, and it was well-maintained and clean, which is really the key to places like this, so I'm all for the small parks dotting the map where West Jordians... Jordanese... citizens of West Jordan can walk to and enjoy.

It looked like they also had bathrooms as well as a seating area. I was surprised at how clean everything was and maintained the paved trail was. I definitely recommend coming here for a walk or a run as I felt very safe even by myself at 6am For my birders: There's a pretty good number of species out there, including lesser gold, finches, black Chin, hummingbird, Rufous hummingbird, and others (see photos for an August visit)

It's a good place to hop on, and you can go north or south as the trail will take you back under Winchester Street when you park on the north side. But actually, it's more than just a parking lot launching off point. They actually have a small park here, with a rentable pavilion, restrooms, a small playground, tables, BBQs, and as you're close to the Jordan River, you can launch a canoe here, too. There's not a ton of grass, but enough for the kids to run around. However, you should be aware that there's a small diversion of the river to a pond/flow sort of situation in the midst of the park so you won't want to let the kiddos wander too far from where you can keep an eye on them. Once you get too far from Winchester, the trees get a little more sparse, but there's good shade coverage here for those hot summer days. For me, though, it's most enjoyable in the shoulder months when the foliage is turning or in the spring when you just have to get out and take a long walk.
