I liked Beacon 70. Maybe it's because I became bored with the same diner template being used over and over on route 70, but Beacon 70 had its own identity. It's kind of a cross between a sports bar with a nautical casual theme and a nautical casual with a sports bar theme. Whatever it's trying to be, Beacon 70 was packed on a Sunday in April at 3:00 PM in the afternoon. The prolific menu has everything for everybody, if you don't care about cholesterol or weight. Beacon 70 is like an upscale diner with a nautical theme. Oh, I went through that already. The view of the boats brings the ocean closer, but the restaurant really sits on an inlet. It still looks prettier than a view of Route 70. Our server KB was delightful, making suggestions to enhance our meal. The shrimp and crab were delicious. I also enjoyed my cocktails. This restaurant is in a great location right on the marina in Brick. The layout and dining areas are pretty cool. I wish it was nice out and we could have sat outside and enjoyed the sea air, next time. We ordered wings to start which were very large so I can't complain there. We had them teriyaki style which I now know my boyfriend doesn't like. I thought they were fine. He asked for BBQ suave in the side to make them better but he didn't like their sauce. It has some sort of alcohol flavor to it, bourbon/whiskey/ I honestly don't know. I opted for a cheeseburger which was giant in size and cooked perfectly medium rare how I ordered it and the fries were very hot. My boyfriend ordered the fish and chips which he DID like but I honestly don't think they were worth the $21 price tag, hence the 4 stars. Our server was the bartender and she was attentive to us at the table while also tending to the bar and the patrons there. It wasn't too busy at the time but I can't imagine if it was. Poor thing. We were actually seated in 8 mins the atmosphere was a typical Jersey scene with both families and those at bar watching Baseball game. I chose to sit outside as it was a great weather. Waiter was friendly and attentive. Lots of choices on menu, but I went with a burger. My daughter tried the pork belly burger and said it was great. It was my second time going to Beacon 70, but this time we went for dinner and not just Happy Hour. They have a really great atmosphere, in my humble opinion. I like the vaulted ceiling, and I like the water views. They also have a bar in the center of the restaurant, and they have a big beer selection. The quality of the food was mixed. Generally, it's just bar food, but I was expecting more because the atmosphere is really nice. The wings were supposed to be boneless and mild, but they came out with bones and were medium spicy. We didn't say anything. The grouper tacos tasted like they had been previously frozen, but I can't tell for sure, and it had way too much mayo. The onion rings had no flavor either. However, the two people who ordered the burgers thought that they were delicious and prepared fresh from real ground beef. However, he did send back the egg so that it would be sunny side up. I ordered a happy hour Jack with Coke, which was just five dollars. So did my buddy. We both noticed that it was flat, which makes us think that it was shaken instead of stirred. I don't know if I would order a complicated drink from there since they couldn't even get a basic one-shot drink right. The service did get a few things slightly wrong, but it was polite. It might've been slightly on the slow end, but it extended the meal out a little bit more. So, we're not complaining. It should be noted that they still don't take reservations, but we were able to get a table for six people by coming early around 5:30 PM. Would I go again? Yes, I imagine I would because it is one of the nicer bar atmosphere's in Brick. But maybe I would just stick with the simple food items from the happy hour menu and just get a beer instead of a cocktail. read more

We went there for the Wednesday Lobster special. Ordered 3 lobster dinners, 18 oysters, calamari and two salads. Everything was good however each lobster tail was nonexistent except for a small strip on each side of the tail. I say small thin strip which was 1/4 inch wide. Obviously when the lobster was prepped for service, the bulk of the lobster tail was removed. They probably tossed it into a bucket for their lobster bisque. Buyer beware. The food here was very tasty and the presentation was eye-appealing, and Brianna, our server, made it easy for us. We were here with a group of ten, celebrating a graduation. Drinks galore as with the victuals. I was more interested in the affair than the food. The Pizza Rustica was excellent with Pancetta and Gorgonzola cheese. I also had a Yellowfin tempura bites, excellent. It's really a place to be seen, not heard. It's quite noisy and you find yourself yelling at times. It's quite upbeat. Craft brews? No. Wines? Yes. Came here for dinner with my son and daughter the night before Thanksgiving and the place was jammed! Found out that this is a big party night for kids coming home for Thanksgiving. There were a lot of security people there so we felt pretty comfortable. I guess some of the youth can't handle their liquor! Great ambiance, located on the water. Very friendly staff, pretty quick service. We started out with the fried pickle appetizer. Order was a good size and we all shared it, and there wa plenty to go around. My daughter had the short rib tacos; 3 in the serving and the tacos were really stuffed. She loved them. My son had the bacon blue burger. Really good size burger. I had a regular burger, lettuce tomato and cheese and it was cooked the way I ordered it. Fries portion was good but not as hot as I like them, but that's always my issue with fries, got to be hot! Years ago I ordered a salad and as I was chewing, there was something very wrong. I spit out of food and there was dirt all over in the lettuce. I checked the rest of the salad and yep, dirt!! But this was years ago and an isolated incident. Their burgers are huge and very good, they are only $9 during happy hour which is from 4p-7p. My son loves the pizza. Solid place. read more

I've been to this restaurant twice and had a wonderful experience both times. The restaurant/sports bar seems to always be busy and normally has about a 30 minute wait. The staff is extremely friendly and has great recommendations. The first time I went was on a Wednesday and they had a $19 lobster special which they have every week. We ordered the grilled lobster on pasta dressed in fra diavolo sauce. It was delicious and the portion was huge! I love that they have specials throughout the week. The drinks are great too. The restaurant is welcoming to both families and groups of adults. The menu is quite lengthy but has many options to fit all diets. read more

Beacon 70's daily special of Flounder Florentine (is it though?) is exactly this type of dish. Always a risk going for the daily special - something the kitchen/chef hasn't perfected - in this case I'm not sure they tasted it - unseasoned flounder over a bed of unseasoned rice sitting near a serving of unseasoned spinach. How does something sautéed in garlic come out bland? The biggest issue was the flounder and suffocating beneath a blanket of melted mozzarella cheese. I peeled it off in one big congealed blanket of goo. Good on them for listening to my issue with the meal and taking it off the tab. Very nice and gracious about - the way to win customers back. Early review here for opening night, which they handled very well inspite of the crowds of people trying to make their way in. The first 100 of us on line got a 15% discount card good for all food and booze for the next year. Our next visit was early about a week later before game time so we easily got a seat at the back bar and enjoyed a couple orders of wings. This place is simply over the top for a sports bar and their ambience reflects the several million dollars spent for the complete makeover of the old Pilot House. Great place for beer drinkers especially during happy hour, but you are out of luck if you are wine drinkers like us. No house Pino Grigio - unheard of so we have to send up for this simple common wine. Their house wines, some horrible California wine offerings that are cloyingly sweet. Oh well - if it were not for the wine would have rated them four stars. Bottom line: Discount cards nice marketing touch and will bring us back again for sure, Ambience fantastic over the top sports bar, Staff service very good for a start up, House wine however, poor. read more

More like Beacon 70 Minutes to eat anything! Not a one star because it is still the Shore and expectations can only be set so high. Where do I start? The reasonable 20 minute wait that lasted 35, expectations set by three different hostess' with the same crap attitude about yet another party of two coming to eat at their "restaurant" on a Saturday at 2pm. Once we asked to be seated, twice, we were told we can go roam the restaurant and bar until we got a text. Sort of odd to be granted such a privilege after 25 minutes, as other patrons with pitbulls were seated as they walked in. Once seated, the service matched the experience waiting to be seated. The food came out slow, and was good, but not worth the long wait to be seated, to be asked for our order, and for the food to finally arrive. Am I missing something? Should we never come on the weekend if we expect average service? Better off ordering on postmates. read more

Once the band leaves for the evening or by around 9-9:30 the music gets turned up to a monotonous deep bass sound of a ghetto club- that's when the paying crowd makes an exit.
