With over five years staying at the Coastal Digs properties, my experiences have been nothing short of perfection. Not to say that on the rare occasion something doesn't go wrong. But the manner in which these few times are handled was timely and thorough. The owners are friendly and caring people. Their properties are beautifully decorated with careful thought given to every aspect of a guest's wants and needs. There isn't one complaint I can honestly give.

I found this coastaldigs.com on Craigslist just a couple days ago and thought I'd found the perfect place (both units) and if I liked it I'd see if I could rent longer. I wanted to see the unit that was left if possible and ask a couple questions voice to voice. I gave them my number (first via email and they had been texting my cell as of 6:20pm on Saturday night and I provided it again in via text though they were texting me) and asked them to call rather than text repeatedly and find the best time for both of us to meet. Today she responded with "you haven't given your number" and "do you think I just hang around here all day?" Wow that was my first clue about this persons (Dee) lack of professionalism. She tried to nail down my rental dates on Sunday. a.m. and all I asked was for her to call so I could talk in person about a couple things and to find a good time for both of us to meet. This all happened Sunday morning. After 2 rude comments to my asking for a call I said "never mind this is rude" and being a property manager myself for over 25 years I realized best not to move forward. She offered no apology at all. Their response to my comment about me being a property manager was: "Property manager.Lol" (basically calls me a liar) Next line was "Idiot." Next was "You have been an air head from day one. Grow up" then "sounds like you've had a little too much f--king." and the final comment before blocking was "Lol, go baby go" I realized this wasn't someone I'd want to deal with. I am the customer and as a property manager myself I respond kindly and call if requested rather than text. I've spent weeks with prospective clients to find they rent something else. I say thank you for considering us and maybe we can help in the future. All this horrible dialog happened today when I had hoped to figure out a time and ask important questions as I have a disability and needed to make sure the property would suit my limitations. I actually started packing a bag in case I could move in today as they wanted the 1st or the 15th only. I DID SAVE THE ENTIRE TEXT DIALOG (NOT SCREEN SHOTS BUT UNEDITED ORIGINAL ON MY LAPTOP) FOR ANYONE TO SEE FOR THEMSELVES WHAT THE TRUTH IS. I have a vacation property on VRBO as well how frustrating it can be dealing with people and their questions but people have lives and things happen yet always act with professionalism. This was a first and so disappointing as I thought I found the perfect place. I'm sure the rental would probably be fine if you can text/email and book right away. All I asked for was a voice to voice call. - Her comments below are untrue and I have reported this to yelp as I don't want this associated with my reviews. IT IS OBVIOUS BY HER RESPONSE THE LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM. OTHER BUSINESSES RESPOND WITH APOLOGIES AND PROFESSIONAL DIALOG.

I'm sitting here in shock... and can't do anything except advise you against working with Bob…read moreWolff. We applied for a rental property through Bob Wolff and paid the application fee. The agent confirmed multiple times that we were the first approved applicants and told us the home was ours if we wanted it. Based on that, we visited the property, took measurements, and began planning our move. We followed up within the day to confirm we wanted to move forward. Despite this, we were informed by text over 24 hours later that the landlord had chosen a different applicant. During our visit, the owners mentioned that other applicants had offered to pay more in rent. Under California's AB 2493 (effective 2025), landlords who charge a non-refundable application fee must either approve applications in the order received, or refund the fee to any applicant not selected. Neither happened here. We're shocked by the unprofessionalism and extremely disappointed that the agency didn't seem to advise their clients on this requirement, or didn't enforce it on our behalf despite confirming our approval. We paid a fee, invested time and trust, and were ultimately misled about the status of our application. We'd encourage other renters to get every approval confirmation in writing and to know your rights under California rental law before going through this agency. The agent responsible for this misstep tried to embellish the story, telling us we left the rental property "unsure" of whether we would like to rent- which is untrue. We were in the process of breaking our current lease and had started the move-out process, after being told in person that we were going to be great tenants and to simply let them know what our decision was. We were never given the opportunity. Beyond the money we paid for the application, we lost real time and momentum in our housing search. We stopped pursuing other listings because we were repeatedly told this home was ours, and now we're back at square one, scrambling to find a place. It's hard not to feel like we were treated as a formality or a backup plan rather than real applicants, even after being told multiple times that we'd been approved. This experience has genuinely shaken our trust in working with real estate agents and property managers going forward, and we don't want anyone else to go through what we did.

Very scammy! I spoke with Sarah on the phone was fully transparent about my credit situation and…read moreincome and she mislead me & was downright dishonest by telling me to "apply & they can get me in a place" Maybe she has to adhere to metrics, either way it's a waste of time & money for applicants. It's unethical to take people's money for credit checks. Best business practice, is to let them know, initially what would work and what wouldn't. These property management companies are breaking the new law regarding credit check fees. Honestly, they should pay themselves, to check people's credit, if the cost is on them, they will not lie and will only work with applicants, that they are truly interested in. The new law is: California's AB 2493 significantly changed rental application fees, requiring property managers to either process applicants on a "first-qualified" basis and refund unused fees, or refund the entire screening fee to all unselected applicants within 7 days (or 30 days if no tenant selected) if they don't use the first-qualified method, ensuring transparency and returning money when screening isn't fully used or an applicant isn't chosen. Landlords must provide itemized receipts and give written screening criteria upfront, with fees capped by inflation (around $65 in 2025). Key Requirements for Property Managers Option 1: First-Qualified Process Process applications strictly in the order received. Provide written screening criteria upfront. Refund any unused portion of the fee if the applicant isn't chosen after their application was considered (e.g., if another applicant was processed first). Option 2: Refund All Unselected Applicants If you don't use the first-qualified method, you must refund the full screening fee to every applicant who isn't selected, regardless of why (even if a background check was run). Refunds must be sent within 7 days of selecting a tenant or 30 days of application submission, whichever is sooner. Transparency & Receipts Must provide itemized receipts showing actual screening costs. Provide written screening criteria to all applicants upfront. Fee Limits Fees are capped at the actual cost of screening, adjusted annually for inflation (around $65 in 2025). In Simple Terms Landlords must be very clear about how they process applications. If they can't prove they followed the "first-come, first-served" rule for every application, they must refund the entire fee to everyone they didn't rent to. I would not recommend this place unless you have a high credit score but even then they might still just be collecting applications & not have any real properties for rent. Could be a complete scam

Disappointing experience due to a lack of professionalism, communication, and transparency…read more Our primary contacts throughout the leasing process were Daniel Morgan and Raquel. After we initially declined the lease because the rent was outside our budget, the homeowner personally reached out and invited me back to the property to meet his family and neighbors, answer questions about the home and neighborhood, and discuss the rental terms. Following that meeting, we reached an agreement on a revised rental price, and Daniel and Raquel sent us an updated lease reflecting those terms. We took the time to carefully review the lease and ask questions before signing, as anyone should when entering into a legal agreement. During that process, we felt pressured to sign the lease quickly, despite simply trying to understand the terms of the agreement. We ultimately signed the updated lease and promptly submitted the requested security deposit in good faith. Based on our understanding that we were moving forward with this property, we declined other rental opportunities, which were no longer available when we unexpectedly had to resume our search. What followed was, in our view, the most concerning part of the entire experience. After signing the lease and submitting our security deposit, we received no communication whatsoever from the leasing company regarding next steps, confirmation that our documents had been received, or when we could expect a countersigned lease. We found this unusual and reached out ourselves the following day. Only because we initiated that conversation were we informed that the property had continued to be shown after we had already signed the lease and submitted our deposit. During that conversation, we were told that another applicant had offered the original asking rent and that the owner had decided to move forward with that applicant instead--just 10 days before our scheduled move-in date. While our security deposit was ultimately returned, the handling of this transaction fell well below the level of professionalism, communication, and transparency we expected. We invested significant time and effort into this process, including meeting with the homeowner and his family, negotiating revised lease terms, carefully reviewing the lease, signing the agreement, submitting a substantial security deposit, and making housing decisions in reliance on the understanding that we were moving forward. Our real estate agent, who has more than 20 years of industry experience, told us she had never encountered a situation like this. Regardless of the legal status of the lease before it was fully executed, prospective tenants deserve timely, transparent communication--especially after signing a lease and submitting a security deposit. In our case, we received no proactive communication and only learned that the property was no longer available because we contacted the leasing company ourselves. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this company. We encourage prospective tenants to obtain written confirmation regarding when a property will be removed from the market and when their tenancy is considered secure before signing documents, submitting funds, or declining other housing opportunities.
