This was my first experience with acupuncture and it was really great. Kathleen is so kind and warm which made the beginning (history taking) a pleasant experience. The environment is really calming and the needles didn't hurt at all. It was surprising to me how I started to notice a difference in some of the tense areas within a matter of minutes. I also like that she offers a sliding scale option if people need to use it because it makes this quality care accessible to everyone. Found this little gem tucked away in Addison a couple of days ago. Kathleen was awesome from start to finish. Since it was my first time there, she took a very thorough medical history and asked me several questions. This was all to get the best treatment possible. Once that is completed you go into a large room where other patients are to receive your treatment. The room is very quiet with the lights lowered, and with calming music in the background. Everyone is very respectful as far as being quiet. It's recommended that once the needles are in to stay put for about a hour. It was actually peaceful to sit there with no worries and have time to myself. It actually allowed me to have a big emotional release which is what I have needed for the longest. The pricing is more than reasonable. I definitely want to go back again and keep going with the treatments. read more

I began suffering from constant pain in 2010 and went through numerous chiropractors, massage therapists, and a couple orthopedists. Not one of them has been able to relieve my constant pain & discomfort like Kathleen. Love!! I fell in love with community acupuncture on a recent trip to California. To be honest, initially I thought the community setting was just an inconvenience I'd have to put up with to find a reasonable priced acupuncturist. But, the practice of community acupuncture really grew on me. I think so many times we feel isolated in our health struggles, and laying all alone in a Dr's cubicle kind of compounds that alone feeling. When I'm in a treatment room with others, even though we don't interact, it's soothing to know I'm part of a community seeking to take back their health. I've used Kathleen's acupuncture center twice in the past year to help with migraines. I rarely get headaches or migraines, but when I do, they last around 36 hours and I don't respond to the medication. I decided to try acupuncture to alleviate the symptoms. The treatment area is relaxing with dim lighting, recliners, and the sound of beach waves in the background. I couldn't feel the needles at all, either time. I have been dealing with major pain over the last 25 years. Two back operations in 1995 gave temporary relief but was short lived due to arthritis. Pain medication never really work for pain relief it just puts you to sleep or induces a fog in your brain. I have tried CBD oil with moderate success. Dealing with pain for so long was an obstacle for a happy retirement. I decided to try acupuncture because I can't take the normal arthritis drugs due to the blood thinners I am on. I made my first appointment with Kathleen Ellerie at Beachside Community Acupuncture. The first appointment was great. Kathleen did a thorough work up then proceeded to place the needles. The needles were not painful, and the environment was very relaxing with ocean sounds and essential oil diffused in the air. The results for me were very good so I made another appointment. I would come in with a new ache so Kathleen would place a couple more needles to address that area as well. I have been to four appointments and have a fifth scheduled. Anyone that has pain they can't get resolved or at least down to a tolerable level ought to give acupuncture a try. I fell in my church sanctuary in November of 2017 and ended up with a bulging disc at L/4-L/5 with impingement (trapped) of the sciatic nerve. The pain had become unbearable even though I was taking pain medication and muscle relaxers. The pain was excruciating, and only allowed me to sleep from 3 to 4 hours at night. I tried Physical Therapy, no help at all, then I was sent to a Pain Management Clinic for months of nothing but cortisone injections by epidural and injections, absolutely no help at all. I was at my wits end when I arrived here for a long visit with my sister. She helped me find Beachside Community Acupuncture and the very wonderful, educated Acupuncturist Dr. Kathleen Ellerie, an Angel. I have other health problems from Nueropathy, to a badly repaired wrist break (both bones from a fall), headaches and the list goes one. When my first Visit was complete I had tears of joy, for the 1st time in 2 and 1/2 years my pain was relieved in my spine and was stunned. The next visit reinforced the back since I had done things I was told not to do. The next visit was a real eye opener, when the treatment was completed and she was removing the needles, I told her something unusual was happening in the soles of my feet. She gently cradled my foot and placed her cold hand on my foot and I began crying, I had not had any feeling in the bottoms of my feet for over 12 years and I could feel her cold hands, oh what joy I felt and still do. The visit this week was yet another eye opener, my neuropathy that went from my soles of my feet all the way to my hips and recently presented itself in my arms, well once again my tears began to flow, I am able to feel a portion of my lower legs and my wrist pain is lessening. I will see her twice this next week before returning to Alabama and I can hardly wait to see what nerve or area she awakens for me. Please understand that this is totally unsolicited, in fact Dr. Kathleen Ellerie has no idea that I am posting this recommendation. I will tell her when I see her. I never thought that Acupuncture administered by the very educated, talented and caring Dr. Kathleen Ellerie would give me such awesome results. I finally got up the nerve to pursue acupuncture treatment for my shoulder and wrist pain and chose Beachside Community Acupuncture, based on reviews on Yelp and Google. I appreciate the fact that it is made affordable by Kathleen. Being my first experience, I didn't know what to expect, but upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised at the clinic environment. I liked the "community" setting, where there are several recliners in a room decorated with beach scenes along with relaxing ocean wave background sound. Kathleen has a very precise and gentle technique when inserting the acupuncture needles. I didn't expect them so fine! I never felt pain or discomfort in any way. The hour session was extremely relaxing and although I wish I could say that my pain was eliminated, I did feel some relief. I plan on several more visits to keep driving the pain away.
