I don't know what these little grand stand, regency style buildings were originally for, but they are beautiful and add to the iconic imagery of the Brighton seafront. Their prime location, overlooking the seafront, just above the arches, must mean their not cheap to lease, which is why I assume the food and drink here is quite expensive, as well of course the fact that they are primarily aimed at free spending tourists.
In the summer this place is rammed tightly with day-trippers, language students and everyone else just wanting an Ice cream, and wanting it at that moment. However coming by in the middle of a vertical rain sodden winters evening, business is not exactly booming (well there was no one their) and suddenly the expensive prices are magnified, without the summer rays affecting your decision making process. A pretty tasteless hot dog for £2.70 is not very good really is it? and don't even get me started on Candy Floss for £2.90.
If though you've got a spare pound and you get an urge for a stick of rock, you can buy it right here, without even needing to cross the road. Job done. read more
