Getting hit with the news that my less-than 8k miles-old brake system was not recalled but put on a TPS and would require an entire brake swap has got to be the WORSE answer to receive when you came in to fix a small squeak. Devonte sensed this, he understood what needed to be done, and could both feel and see my frustration for something out of my control. Instead of telling me it is what it is, too bad so sad, and/or them's the breaks, he asked for my keys and trust. 15 minutes later, he came out and said that I'm good to go. He worked with the team on a fix and it cost me ZERO dollars (I probably owe them for taking the amount of water bottles I did). I've been driving up and down LA with zero squeak and full confidence. Shoutout to Devonte for going above and beyond what he needed to do for a distraught (but loyal) customer.

With the clock ticking and closing time creeping, I went back to my car to restart my search; stressed and sitting there with a sagging tire. Then I saw Eric and his coworker out front. They looked friendly, available, and most importantly, present. I walked over, Eric came to take a look, quickly assessed the situation, had me pull the car up, and got straight to work. He handled it quickly, efficiently, and right before closing time. I didn't have cash on me, but this review is the least I could do after he quite literally did the heavy lifting. If it weren't for Eric, this would have been a very different review. Funny how often the people furthest from the front desk are the ones actually carrying the business. Some people hold the title. Some people do the tire lifting. Eric is clearly the latter. So yes, 5 stars for Eric. In this little roadside drama, he was the fix, while others felt more like the nail in the tire, expecting the other three wheels to do all the work. Apparently it is much tougher than others when it comes to permits, and it ended up requiring a lot more paperwork and extra effort than he expected. Even with all that, Cyrus stuck to his original quote and never tried to charge us more, which we really appreciated. Jaime and Jesus handled the installation of the air handler, ductwork, and heat pump. They worked hard, were very respectful of our home, kept things clean, and honestly were much quieter doing the work than I expected considering all the cutting and installation involved. They also worked hard to finish ahead of the timeline they originally gave us. Inspection passed with no issues, and now we've been using the AC for months with zero problems. Overall, we're really happy with the work and would definitely recommend them.

I truly cannot recommend this shop highly enough. I have a lifted GX 470 that I need to sell right quick, and I've been procrastinating on some maintenance and troubleshooting because I didn't have a shop in town I trusted for a lifted truck. A friend in the off-roader community recommended Alex and Beach Cities Rover, and I've been so f*cking relieved to find such solid people. Though it bills itself as a Range Rover-specialty shop, Alex used to be at Lexology, and seems to have deep experience with Lexus and Toyota builds too. Alex is a real straight shooter, and you can tell he busts his ass to get people in and out in as little time, and for as little money, as reasonably possible. He's a great communicator, and his whole team is friendly and knowledgeable. I've sprung some last minute work on him more than once, in a way that was frankly not cool of me as a customer (((not that I recommend this! give him warning ahead of time!!)), and he's gone out of his way to get me taken care of despite already packed days. I've gotten to know Libor and Steven too, and they're just as solid as Alex. I live 45 minutes away in west LA, and I think it's so worth it to drive down to work with this team. There's bangin' Poke and burger shops in walking distance, so I never mind hanging out nearby. 10/5 stars for Beach Cities Rover. read more

Great service and great attitude I have a 2004 disco 2 and have been looking for a local mechanic for quite some time. For some reason this shop never popped up in my search. I was recommended to Jesse by another mechanic down the street because I had a tight turn around and a mysterious leak. What an awesome experience! Beach Cities Rover is awesome. We had an emergency. Gas was freely leaking from our Audi and was super dangerous. Jesse and Morgan handled us with care. They had us bring the car in immediately and had it looked at within an hour. Jesse even offered a ride home since we'd be out the car over night. BCR is amazing. From the owner to the mechanics/electronics tech/front office. Used to use a different mechanic, who Sucked. Almost put him through his front business window. Then we discovered Beach Cities Rover...and all has been well in Wifey's Rover. They helped us after the Rover was stolen 2x, have done All work since leaving old mechanic, & have emoployess & owner who went to grammar school together. It is team run & it shows. Beware: Dishonest Pricing and Unreliable Service…read more I came to TYC to get both my front axles replaced. I asked for a quote and was told $390 for labor (for both axles), plus the cost of parts. I also informed the owner that a dealership had diagnosed bad subframe bushings and recommended replacing the entire suspension subframe. He told me that wasn't necessary and said he would call me later with the price for the parts. Later that day, I looked up the parts myself--Duralast Gold axles from AutoZone with a lifetime warranty, $179 each. So the total cost I expected: $179 x 2 + $390 labor = $748 Then the owner called me and said the aftermarket (non-OEM) parts would be $289 each, bringing the total to a whopping $968. Keep in mind: this is still for aftermarket parts, not OEM. I told him I'd bring my own parts instead. He AGREED to install them for $390 in labor. I dropped my car off and left it overnight. The next day, he called me claiming the passenger side axle was the wrong part. He told me if I brought the correct part, he'd install it for free. I still paid the full $390 for just the one axle replacement. Here's the kicker: I took the "wrong" part back to AutoZone. They double-checked the part number, make, model, and confirmed it was the correct part ‍. I'm not some clueless car owner--I'm an X-ray engineer. I research for a living. A couple days later, I returned to TYC with the same "correct" part. This time, the mechanic refused to install it, saying the bearing was the wrong size and insisted I had to buy an axle from the dealer. Why should I pay for dealer parts at an independent shop? If I wanted to throw money away, I would've gone to the dealership in the first place. The whole point of going to a non-dealer shop is to save money. I returned the axle to AutoZone and got a refund. By this point, I'd wasted a ton of time, gas, and energy--and I never got the second axle replaced. In short: * Dishonest and inconsistent pricing * Poor communication * Refused to honor their word * Wasted my time and money I won't be returning, and I strongly recommend you take your business elsewhere

The problem is there are very few places that use it in oil changes. And I looked. I found South Bay Auto Care on the Amsoil website. It's near my work. I'm at the end of my engine break in on my new car and wanted to use Amsoil. I called them and they let me drop off the car to get the oil change. Not only did they do it quicker then they thought, the price was very similar to what i've paid at quick lube places for synthetic oil that was not as good as Amsoil.. The mechanics here feel honest and they did a good job for me. This will be my oil place. I'll try them for other things I need that aren't covered by the warranty too. Very positive experience.

Back in 2023, Kenny repaired an issue on my 2017 BMW X1 related to the shifter/selector mechanism…read more At the time, he mentioned it was something he'd been seeing more often and thought BMW might eventually acknowledge and cover. Nearly three years later, I received a letter from BMW extending the warranty for that exact issue. What followed was a long and pretty frustrating reimbursement process with BMW corporate. They kept asking for additional documentation and clarification from both me and the place that performed the repair. Even though I hadn't been back to Auto Werkstatt since the repair was done years ago, Kenny was kind enough to help me work through it. He pulled invoice copies, provided additional details, and sent information directly to BMW whenever they requested it. After many months of waiting, I finally received the reimbursement check, IN FULL. So while this review isn't specifically about the repair/work itself, I hope it says a lot about a shop that stands behind its work and its customers years later. Thanks again, Kenny and team.
