Open very early so before you head to work it's worth the stop to fill you up and keep you on your way. Quaint little bagel spot in the Rockaways. Must be good because it seems all the locals come here and everyone knows each other (always a plus). I came in for a coffee and bagel. I got the rainbow bagel with lox cream cheese spread and a regular coffee. The coffee was good and the bagel was tasty. Prices are ok, coffee and bagel was around $7. Decent parking on the street. These are not bagels. These are rolls with a hole. It's as if these are baked like a regular bread roll then given a slight puncture in the middle to look like a bagel. I have not had any luck with bagel places lately and Beach Bagel does nothing to change that. I asked for a poppyseed bagel and it was only seeded on one side (see pic). Like ordering a pizza and getting half pepperoni. I knew right away how it would taste when it felt like a bread roll in my hand. The only good thing about the place was that the jalapeño cheese cream is decent. Unfortunately, they don't have any of the cream cheese flavors listed anywhere so you have to ask the counter guy what is what. Guy behind the counter was nice but it doesn't make up for the poor quality of the bagels. They have a couple foldout tables to act as a seating area but no bathroom. Bad enough that residents in the area had to deal with the devastation of hurricane Sandy but they also have to deal with this poor excuse of a bagel place. read more

so many great things to say about this place! the lights are on arond 530 am(could be sooner)-and coffee is already brewing. bagels are always tastey and not once have they gotten an order incorrect. i live next store to a bagel place and they always get my orders wrong but i will go ot of my way to come here where i know its made with love. these people actually take pride in their store and love their customers.(you can tell when yo go in). im from lawg island and hands down ths place has better bagels. perfectly toasted, right about of cream cheese-not globbed on, actually scooped to prefection, and they remember your order from weeks ago which is so personal and i love it! read more

Legit like the only bagel place in Rockaway that has hash brown but the baconeggandcheese taste sensational.

Was heading to the beach this weekend and got there very early. Since this is the only block you can park on, the girlfriend and I decided to stop here in order to get some breakfast. Small spot doing take out currently for breakfast. Waiting online I could tell a lot of local regulars come here, the workers knew orders and names by heart (if you know me on here I love that in restaurants!). We patiently waited online, which wasn't long and put in our order. I got my normal Turkey bacon lettuce and tomato with avocado mayo and hot sauce. The girlfriend got this mocha latte specialty coffee they were advertising. The food was great and the girlfriend loved the coffee but I was most impressed with the service here. The workers were polite, happy, helpful and very enthusiastic to be doing their jobs and interacting with the people. It's going to be my new go to spot when hitting the beach. Grabbed breakfast here a few times and it's excellent. I asked for my cream cheese on the side so they gave me a whole side of cream cheese and charged me $4 for it. Bagels are a subjective experience. Following the ratings can be disappointing. Understand the characteristics of the bagel so that you can find your ideal bagel. Bagels are boiled then baked so they have a different texture than rolls or bread. They are chewy. Different bagel bakeries have different size bagels, and differ in their technique varying the bagel experience. Beach bagels are on the larger size and are dense. They are well baked but not airy or fluffy. The outside has a detectable crispness that contrasts nicely with a soft inside. It is moderately chewy. The bagels here are A+ in my book with some variability in processing. I have sampled scores of bagel establishments in the metropolitan area and have not found a better bagel. The service is excellent, accurate and efficient. Do not come here for the ambience. read more

Great bagels, but they've been custom making my egg sandwiches since '95. Definitely a go to if you're in rockaway and want breakfast.

I can't say enough positive things about this place. From the first time you visit, you become FAMILY. Mohammad, or whoever is working behind the counter, remembers your name and your order. The place is cash only, and I did not know that the first time I visited so I had no cash. When I offered to go to an ATM, Mohammad told me "it's OK, just pay me next time." Where can you find a place in NYC that still works on the IOU/ honor system? I was so impressed by that. Now that I work in the area, I stop by frequently to get to some good Deli food at reasonable prices and to see my friends at Beach Bagel! read more

As one can judge by these reviews, Beach bagel is not only a very good place to eat, it is also community oriented and very friendly. One does not go just for the food. As for the devastation of Sandy, Mo opened his doors early after the storm and evan though he also had his business destroyed he set about feeding his customers asap and sometimes with no money involved.
