This is very well down rendering of former President Abraham Lincoln. Great use of colors and shares his likeness accurately. Overall it is always great to discover the cool pieces that are part of alley gallery throughout downtown Lousiville.

I spotted the Shively mural while driving through town and it immediately caught my attention. The…read morebold "Shively, KY" lettering stretches across the building with bright colors and scenes that represent the community. I really liked how the artwork mixes local imagery with sports like basketball and soccer it gives the whole mural a fun, energetic feel. The design makes the wall feel alive and adds a lot of personality to the area. It's the kind of mural that makes you slow down for a second just to take it all in. It's a great example of how public art can celebrate a community and make an ordinary building into something memorable.

He is a horse themed public art piece that ties into the city's strong horse racing identity and the stadium's overall branding. It's a fun, eye-catching sculpture that fits right in with the energy around the venue. "Darby Lou" is part of the local public art and community installation efforts connected to the stadium area, which sits in the Butchertown district and is home to Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC. Walking around outside, it feels like a well-designed space with lots going on. The sculpture itself makes for a nice quick stop and photo opportunity, especially if you're already in the area for a game or event.

The mural by artist Robert Leo Jones is Larry of a massive public art project spanning all through downtown Lousiville called "alley gallery" where different artist paint different murals on side and read doors of businesses and garages throughout the city of Louisville. Overall this is a nice piece of a woman face. I'm not sure if the name Jennifer is of personal relationships for the artist or an homage to popular actress and Lousiville native Jennifer Lawrence. But either way it is really well done. Overall cool piece and I love how the alley gallery brings life and color to random spots throughout the city. Cool mural and idea.

This one resonated with us a bit as we both have nothing but daughters. Overall simple but nice mural. Always cool to come across new murals in the city when we go out exploring. Nice addition and to the Portland area that is gaining more and more public art on each visit we make.

I am not familiar with who or what the mfx crew represents. Maybe they are a group of artist that have worked in the area as Shelby park is a rich public Art mural scene with way too many to count murals within a two to three block radius of this. Overall pretty cool mural and I enjoy the black background with the vibrant bright colors. Really makes this piece stick out.

I graduated from UofL in 2006 and other than heading to PJCS for football games or swing by the SAC…read moreto pick up tickets, I don't have many reasons to be on campus or pay attention to what's new around campus. But, the Confederate Statue was just removed so when I walked from Cardinal Boulevard to the Speed Museum (which recently opened re-opened and gives me another reason to be on campus) I paid attention to what seemed to stand in it's place. I was surprised to read that the memorial park has stood here since 2012. From UofL's website -- "Charles H. Parrish, Jr. Freedom Park tells the story of African Americans in Louisville and the Commonwealth through a series of 10 information obelisks, each focusing on an era or topic specific to Louisville, and 10 glass panels detailing the contributions of some of the giants of Louisville's civil rights struggle." The "park" is well done -- but it's not so much a park. No swing sets or basketball hoops. The park sits in the triangular land between 2nd and 3rd Streets. (Where the Playhouse is). It's mostly a fancy place with to kill time while waiting on the bus, waiting for a table at Griff's or to catch your breath if you can't find a parking spot on campus and parked a mile away. There are benches to sit upon and cool bios about the 10 honored African American Louisvillians. If you enjoy history, admiring bravery and are in the area -- it's clean, it's safe and it's free.

Hometown heroes is a a series of photographic murals of famous alumni of Lousiville spread…read morethroughout the city. This particular one is of distillery mogul Tom bulleit. Famous for his Kentucky Bourbon that shares his last name of bulleit bourbon. Which is A very popular bourbon nationwide and in the area. Overall like all the hometown heroes I enjoy them as it brings people who accomplished great feats forward and shines a light on them.
