So a solid area for public art lovers. Me qbs my friend and fellow yelper Jeremy J have been going around ten Lousiville area neighborhoods and adding local public art to yep we came across this piece. Not in the greatest part of town but this is still a quick and nice photo op and a really cool piece overall. Not sure if the artist is a fan of the Phoenix bird legend or of it is a tribute to nearby neighborhood Phoenix hill. Either way it's a nice addition to the local public art mural scene in the city.

I made my own free outdoor art gallery and it was pretty fun. The Phoenix mural is another piece by local artist Damon Thompson who has really beautified Louisville with many of his paintings. There are over 40 of them since May of last year. It is located by the Phoenix Hill neighborhood, hence the phoenix. The piece is not Thompson's typical type of work. Most of his art is of famous people. It is still a nice and detailed Phoenix. Thompson does wonderful work and it is on display all around the city for everyone to see for free. There is no easy way to park and see the mural. It is located on a very busy and well traveled street. There are some streets that you can park on that are in walking distance and there are some private lots that you may be able to park, jump out real quick and take a look and hope you don't get towed. , it is not a very long stop anyway and you probably could accomplish what you want to in the comfort of your vehicle. Maybe even a drive by.

Me and my friend and fellow yelper Jeremy J last Saturday was checking out new places and public art in the Shelby park and Nulu neighborhoods and this piece was on our radar. Literally right next to this mural is another mural of the legendary Albert Einstein. Which is pretty cool. This whole neighborhood block is chock full of public art and murals. So if you are a fan I highly recommend this neighborhood.

I've always felt like it *should* look like something when you get further away, materialize into a clearer picture, but I never see it. No matter...it is still lovely and bright and inviting. The colors are pretty and the promise of an emerging blooming bouquet on the wall catches your attention and draws you in. Worth visiting along with the other street art on this strip of Logan!

You're important to the future is a great thought process and even cooler display of public art. Very hard to miss as it sprawls all across a whole building wall and makes for some cool and fun photo ops. I can imagine this is popular with graduation photos. If not then it probably should be. I'll take a slight commission for any photographers who use this idea ;). Overall like most things in the Nulu neighborhood this is a really cool find and any art or mural lovers will surely enjoy it.

On the side of a building, near Rabbit Hole Distillery, is a mural that says "You're Important to…read morethe Future". The yellow and blue lettering is painted on a black background with an outline of a futuristic city, reminiscent of The Jetsons cartoon. I don't know who the artist is, nor the meaning behind the mural, as I couldn't find any information, but I suppose it's meant to be inspirational and give people a positive outlook for the future. As a Yelper, of course I had to stop and take photos and write a review. But what was this building? To my surprise, it was a water pump station! It is the Metro Sewer District's 4th Street Pump Station, and in 2021, the eyesore of a pump station was transformed by artist Whitney Olsen with her mural "Waterfall". What a cool idea! Very vibrant and bright abstract public art mural that sits in the bourbon district of downtown…read moreLousiville Kentucky. This complete building wrapped mural is the metropolitan sewer dump (msd) pump for the downtown 4th street area. It has kinda sat there in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of downtown Lousiville for years. Until artist Whitney Olsen created this beautiful mural in July of 2021 and called it "waterfall". The artist does a great job and uses all kinds of soothing and vibrant colors. Really makes what was just some random looking pump station stick out and noticeable. Overall a great addition to the ever growing public art of not only the downtown Bourbon district of the city but the entire city as a whole. Easy to find. Anyone local has been downtown for an event and stuck in traffic in theirs area. So it provides a pretty traffic view at minimum.

It is painted on the side of the building containing Wick's Pizza and is easy to locate for a great photo op. Artist is Sean Griffin, a Bay Area/Oakland-based contemporary graffiti muralist. He entitled this as "The Highlands Mural" on his website. His photos do not include the man's face painted above the mural, so uncertain of the origins of this addition or timeline of when it may have been added or by whom. Location is corner of Highland Avenue, Baxter Avenue, and Bardstown Road. This area is very walkable and has a large number of restaurants, shops, and mini green spaces to enjoy.

I'm not very familiar with his work or if I am I'm just not aware of it. However the artist does a really good job. Very bright and good use of colors to make This mural stick out. I'm not really sure who the gentleman in the mural is a depiction of but I'm curious as to the origins. Overall very nice piece of public art located in a neighborhood that has plenty of them.

I may be incorrect but there are 3 murals including this one right by each other's that share the same colors used and the other two are pertaining to the nearby st Francis school. So I'm going out on a limb and guessing the schools mascot is a dragon? Overall still a really cool piece that they did a good job. Created by the awesome local artist group called art cartel. The group continues giving the city an artistic and colorful face lift with pieces like this. On Thai piece they use a wide range of bright popping colors and surround it by person in sunglasses giving the shush finger. Very fun piece that is a cool and nice photo op. My daughters love This piece as well. I think it's the bright trippy colors that draws in the kids and and adults a like. Either way a grey piece of local public art.

Anyway, I happened upon this mural during a walk with my sister this last weekend. Murals from the Art Cartel seem to feature this sort of trippy style and subject matter. Not as immediately recognizable as The Art of Kacy or Damon Thompson, but always clearly marked. This mural is on the East side of the Oak St Market building where the road is one way from the other direction. That makes this a more pedestrian friendly find, than one you spy when driving. Seeing murals like this and where they are located makes me wish I could request a mural on my neighbor's fence so I can see it every time I look out my window.

Very massive and brightly colored mural that sticks out and has a fun vibe to it. I'll admit I was not familiar with the subject depicted in this mural. She was evidently a famed Mexican painter in her own right so it seems appropriate she is being honored in her own professional field. Overall a very nice piece tang is noticeable and a great addition to a Nulu neighborhood that has some truly amazing public art murals.

The music is on, the drinks are fantastic and the food is off the charts delicious and the Frida Kahlo mural oversees it all. Super nice pop of color with tons of style.
