Today, my sisters and I visited Mon Cafe Japan in Sumter, South Carolina (Me from California, and…read moremy siblings from Georgia). Our hotel was across the street from the restaurant so we decided on takeout. We had an outstanding experience thanks to AJ and Sydney. From the moment we arrived, they were incredibly friendly, patient, and welcoming. They took the time to answer all of our questions without ever making us feel like we were a bother. Their positive attitudes, professionalism, and genuine smiles made our visit even more enjoyable. Great customer service like theirs is hard to find these days. My sisters and I were so impressed that we asked to speak with their manager just to make sure they received the recognition they deserved. AJ and Sydney are true examples of excellent customer service and represent Mon Cafe Japan exceptionally well. Thank you, ladies, for making our visit such a pleasant one. Keep doing what you do with that beautiful smile--it truly makes a difference! We will definitely be back.

I've been here multiple times and did not like it. This trip was no different. We had a large group of 16 and it started there. Was told a 2hr wait. If we split in to groups of 8 we'd be seated in 45. Took this option. Actually got seated in about 25 minutes seperately. (A table of 8 that was right next to us was vacant and NEVER got used for the entire 90 minutes or so that we stayed at the restaurant so why not accommodate our group? - strike one) Our waitress I'm told was very chippy with an attitude toward some party members. (I didnt get any attitude toward me) but heard a few people stating how she was answering people's requests and how unpleasant she was. - Strike two. The food. I ordered the meatloaf nachos (which were good). I also ordered the fried pork chops w/ side salad. Loading up on fake bacon bits (like 1000 pieces) doesnt make the salad better. This is a hint to their kitchen. The pork chops were dry and the "red skinned" mash potatoes" (which I do not remember the menu stating that they were red skinned potatoes which would mean SKIN would be present in the mash. Otherwise I would not have ordered this. Whole meal was trash. Strike three. My 83 year old father said at the end of the meal "worst meal I've ever had". Which I had him repeat to the table just in case anyone thought it was just me. $700 with tip for the quality is a bit much. I will never ever return no matter what my siblings say.

She hands me the first thing I ask for and doesn't bother to ask what else I want before talking to the next person. I'm still standing there watching this... The other woman wanted chicken and the person behind the counter was all "Oh, well that's going to be like 20 minutes because I have to go get it, come back and prep it and make it"... Then she sees me and says "you want something else" I said yes and she's all "Oh man, well that means that chicken is going to be longer now that I have to help her"... Really? WTH? So it's my fault that you didn't even finish with me first? I said the hell with it and walked away, told her to help the other person. THIS IS YOUR JOB, if you don't like it... Go find another one. Disgusting. The rest of the place is clean and has a decent selection... Check out usually seems to take to long. I'm not impressed with any of it...

We usually stick with Food Lion or Walmart for shelved and cooled/frozen goods but if we're in the mood for some produce then we'll make the drive out and pay the extra costs for the freshest in town. As a side note, there is a new Super Bi-Lo in Sandhills and it's amazing. There's also a Publix in West Cola and we've made that drive (55-60 minutes) a few times just for produce and their bakery (while SB-L has a better section for cheese and wine).
