I think the fee to join was $75, and monthly fees are $20; it is a bit much, since my old membership to Gold's was only $20/month, and they had three times the space and equipment to offer. The owners are rarely there, so if you are even remotely interested in looking around, you have to set up an appointment. The first three times I was supposed to meet them, I would get there and wait for 45 minutes, and no one would show up. When equipment breaks, it remains broken for a long time before it's repaired, if ever. Selection is somewhat limited, and it gets crowded if there are more than three people there at a time. On the plus side, it has 24 hour card access, so it's nice being able to schedule a workout at your convenience.
