I called for information on Hunter Douglas shades and had a good talk with a woman here, after which we made an appointment for her and a technical person to come by the house a few days later to discuss details about how the mechanized shades work, and look at colors and fabrics.. About five minutes before the expected arrival that day I had a message saying "we" are running late but "we" expect to be there within 15 minutes. About 30 min later though, the doorbell rang and a man stood there. He did not introduce himself but his shirt was labeled "Hunter Douglas". I asked where the design person was with whom I had spoken and who had sent me that message. He didn't know. He came in and I asked if we should wait for her. He didn't know. No attempt to wear a mask or ask if I preferred he do so, and as he walked into the living room I saw he was wearing dirty tennis shoes as he walked on our Oriental carpet--no attempt on his part to remove or cover them. He was very terse (I could not tell if he was shy or upset about coming alone) but did the measuring. I asked what was going on, as I was expecting a designer to come with color books, fabric etc. He offered he had a color book in his car and could go get it, but I had expected to interact with a designer. He was in and out within five minutes. I called the shop, and another employee explained my contact was with a customer, and then, most oddly, proceded to explain to me what this other customer was asking about and was going to order. I stopped her as I wasn't interested at all in another person's order, said I had had a message that "we" were coming and who was this solo quiet man who turned up without ever giving his name even. I asked for my contact to call me back but was told they close at 2p and she would be leaving (heaven forbid they return a call past 2p apparently). I got the email address and sent off an email saying I found this all very unprofessional. I very well could understand running late with a client, but then why not call to say that and ask if we could re-schedule? But sending out this man alone, an employee who clearly was not at his best when speaking directly with customers and who didn't know what was going on even with his own workmate, was unacceptable. She had my email and phone number, but now five days later still no response. Very unprofessional and apparently don't like being called on it! The whole effect was very disorganized and unprofessional.

Was interested in consigning... both times, speaking with her over the phone to get an idea of what she was looking for; and when I brought in some things, She never stopped talking! And I mean she NEVER STOPPED TALKING. After the phone conversation, I thought.... will she be accommodating and be a person that could work well with my things on consignment...? I decide to give it a try. When I went to drop off, the motor mouth started again and did not stop until she scrutinized the clothing, accessory and shoes. When I managed to get a word in edgewise, she repeated the same thing over and over, like I was stupid and didn't either understand or hear her the firs 5 times she said it. I agreed to consign, believing the clothing etc. would be on the selling floor either that day or next. After a week, I thought it might be a good thing to check to see if anything sold. When I arrived, she was deep in conversation with a "looky loo".... I asked about the things and immediately she went into a tirade saying that she told me the things would not be out on the selling floor either bcoz they were spring..... huh? Why would I consign and leave my possessions over to her to be put " wherever she wanted"....? And not to be sold on the selling floor???? Either she's completely crazy or she took me a fool... When I asked why she didn't tell me this... she raised her voice, became belligerent and kept repeating " they're spring items, they are spring things....over and over". When I saw and heard her attitude with me, I raised my voice also and said why would I leave my things with you and not be out for possible sale/s. She did not appreciate me questioning her, bcoz she's such a controlling individual so I asked for all my things back immediately. Upon leaving her overstocked, cluttered, messy environmen, and a poor excuse for a consignment shop, I let her know she's a rude, insulting, nasty person who obviously feels the deep need to act obnoxious... toward a "potential client" ! So glad I did not give her any of my business... I have consigned before... many times in the neighborhoods of Needham, Norwell and Brookline. You can find furniture, books, kitchenware, music (variety of vinyl), clothing, and all sorts of antiques. You could definitely spend hours here, as the place is quite large. Most of the businesses are on the first floor, while there are other businesses (like photography and music recording rooms) on upper floors. There's also a music lounge, though I haven't been. And hey, if you can't find anything here, or if you have kids that are fussy, there's Hometown Arcade for old school (and some newer) arcade and video games. (Not really public transportation friendly, though there's a commuter rail station about a 20 minute walk away)
