Been to this location twice now & am happy recommend this restaurant. The food is fresh cooked to order, even if you have special requests/needs. The seasons are abundant and that was my problem tonight. I over-seasoned an entire dish and it was hardly edible. When the waiter asked what was wrong and I told him, he asked if I wanted to make another plate, to which I declined. When given the check we were not charged for my meal. What an excellent and rather unexpected kindness. Can't wait to go back and take it easy on the seasonings! read more

Terrible. I have never been before. Wanted to try something new. Was given very few instructions so I went it alone. Stuck with typical ingredients and a sweet teriyaki sauce. Did not know you had to order rice or tortillas separately. Shrimp was not done (yuck). Will NEVER go back. read more

Me and my husband really like the food. And I like how they have to cook mine special since I have a sea food allergy. However tonight was probably the worst service I have ever had. We were seat at our table and it took the waiter 10-15 minutes to even say hi. He never told us name. All he asked was "drinks?" "Rice or anything?" In sorry but don't you think you should be nice and helpful. We let that slide. My husband went and got his food while I waited at the table. It was another solid 10 minutes before we got our drinks. Anyway my husband sits back down and I get up to get my food. I gathered up all my stuff and take it up to the grill. I tell them I have the allergy and they take the food back to be cooked. And then I get my salad and sit down. After eating all my salad and wondering where my food was, my husband had to wave down a different waiter because ours was no where to be seen. Turns out my food had been sitting back there for a solid 30 minutes and NO ONE BOTHERED TO FIND OUT WHERE IT WENT TO. So it comes time to pay (and he FINALLY shows up with new drinks ) and he asks if we want a to go container. I say yes since I only just got my food. He never brings the container. Then we get the bill and I pay in cash. I'm hoping that I will get my change back to leave a tip plus more to make 20%. Nope. NEVER ASKS. Never brings the change. JUST COMES BACK TO TELL US HAVE A GOOD NIGHT. Okay but I'm sorry shouldn't you at least ask if you want change???? Whatever. I'll probably won't be back to that location. read more

There is a large selection of meats veggies and all that and the service is great but it was Texas Roadhouse money for what I would say is McDonald's level food the noodles come off the grill burnt and when you get tour bull you will most likely regret choosing this please to eat just to expensive for what your getting read more

Horrible service. They burnt almost all the stir fry. The food only taste ok. Probably will never come here again! read more

BD's Mongolian Grill - Everyone's dish looked like this! - Mongolian Near Me - Independence, Missouri

If I couldn't go downtown to Genghis Khan off 39th Street, this was my choice for Mongolian BBQ for many years. I've literally ate here since the first week they opened. And for a long time it was wonderful. But of late it's slipped substantially. They've tinkered with the quality of the meats they offer. The grillers are not as enthusiastic and that's something they were known for and promoted. The servers are surly. But management is what's running this place into the ground. They don't seem to listen to their customers, they can't even stock the bar with basics, and when asked about it you get a nasty attitude. I really hate writing a bad review for a place I love and always made it a point to stop at time permitting if I'm in KC of late. But it's just gone downhill so far that I can't recommend it anymore. read more

Food was not cooked all the way thru .. some spots was well done : burned black and some spots was raw .. which causes concern when it's raw chicken and seafood !! Everybody had the bubble guts after. They need to come up with a new cooking routine people are gonna get sick I don't think I'll be back read more

They are okay if you are looking for nothing special. They have average cooking, poor cleaning, and unengaged wait staff. People are active but not really doing anything, that I can see. It's OK but not great. read more

I wanted to like this place because I've been to Mongolian places in the past and it's nice to totally customize your meal. However, the first thing I did here was use the bathroom and it was a mess and no toilet paper in the stalls. My husband used the bathroom also and when got back in the waiting are his first comment was "I hope the kitchen is cleaner than the bathroom." The wait staff was very nice when we were waiting and being seated so we ignored the dirty bathrooms, saying they were busy and maybe just skipped a check to clean them and went to eat. Again, the staff were very nice and there was no issue with the customer service but when we went to get our food, the stations were messy but that could also be customers not being as clean and careful as they should but especially where all the sauces are, someone should be wiping that down. Where you take your food to get cooked was very chaotic, tossing dishes all around, people's food getting mixed together, the counters were sticky with food/sauce the cooking area looked very unclean. Walking back to the table I was looking around and the place is just dirty. It definitely isn't somewhere I want to eat again (we didn't even finish our food this time) unless they up their cleaning protocols. read more

BD's has been a place I have liked in years passed. I think to keep their menu prices consistent, they reduced their food quality. They used to have ribeye steak as one of the meats, but last time I was there it was "beef tips." I like that they have a wide variety of ingredients, sauces, and seasonings, I just wish they were better quality. The beer garden is pretty neat! Lots of beers to choose from. Again, like the food, to cut costs they changed their happy hour from $3 draws to $1 off draws. I'll be back for the beers but probably not the food. read more

Had a great night out. Had reservation and was seated right on time. Server was prompt and attentive. Atmosphere was great, good selection for food. Great selection of beers and ales. Enjoyed whole experience. read more

Josh!!!! What a great bartender!!!! We had a great night with good food and a great selection of beer.

I enjoy this place especially on birthday because they let you eat free!!!!!!!!!! Tasty food cooked on grill in front of you read more

Good flavors but pricy. Definitely a new experience w/ getting all the stuff you want on your style of noodles. Suggestions on which sauces to get would be helpful. read more

This is our 2nd dining experience and just like our 1st, it was nothing short of amazing. Jessica delivered heroic service and was truly hospitable. Our creative stir-fry dishes were delicious and so tasty... YUM! We will be back... thank you for a delightful dining experience once again. read more

Usually love this place! Had a reservation before a concert at 5:15 sat there for over an hour and still didn't have a table ready for us! Don't recommend if you are in a rush... read more

I have ate at several Mongolian grills with this being my first in KC area. Overall the experiences were similar but somethings were disappointing. The first thing was the overall selection was very limited specially when it came to the sauces. The other and most major disappointment was the preparation. In all the others I have been to you put your meat, noodles, veggies, etc all in one dish then you top the same bowl off with whatever sauce(s) you want. This way its all cooked together and the sauces actually cook into the meat and noodles. The way its done here is you put your sauce in a another small bowl and then after your bowl is cooked while still on the grill they dump the sauce over the top of your food mix it up and then serve it. Doing it this way I found the noodles to end up being very dry when compared to what i am used to and lacking the flavor I have come to expect from mongolian grills. Staff was friendly and the cooks looked like they enjoyed what they do, just the food left me a little disappointed. read more

I've had Mongolian BBQ multiple times, but this time I was little disappointed.. Pros -wide variety of options to put in your stir fry -service was average -food wasn't too bad -they added sweet potatoes! Yum Cons -the chicken still had ice on it in the dish, when I went up to fill my bowl up. Very unappetizing -For what you get I still feel like the prices are very expensive for average food at best. -I found it confusing that they didn't have all the meats labeled nor the difference sauces. It could be helpful to let people know what these sauces closely taste like. -the sweet potatoes definitely should have stayed on the grill longer, everything else was cooked nice though. If I could I would give this place a 3 1/2 stars instead of 4. read more

I absolutely love this place! Their incredible selection of craft beer is abolsutely phenomenal. They have 50 craft beers on tap, which are constantly changing, as well as 150 craft beer bottles. You can fill your growlers, male a create-your-own 6-pack, or simply go in for happy hour! Not to mention the food is to die for!! The create your own stir fry allows you to stir it up your way and make a different style of entree every time you make a bowl of food. The bar section also has an awesome burger and wings menu with some great cheesy fries!! Basicalky, they have every food pairing you could imagine to accompany your craft beer selection. Just remember to tip your servers and bartenders accordingly for their wonderful service! read more

We held my mom's 80th birthday dinner at BD's and the service exceeded our expectations! From the moment Chris answered the phone the day I call to make a reservation, to the moment we walked out the door, everything was flawless. We had more than 30 attendees. Each couple or family had separate checks. The two servers were on top of it all evening! Honestly, we could not have asked for more. We are very appreciative to Chris and the servers at BD's!! read more

LOVE THIS PLACE ! Everything is always yummy when I go . If you don't like it there is a problem because you are the one adding the ingredients. read more

There are many imitations out there now, but BD's is the best. Fresh vegetables. Tasty proteins. Good staff. Great sauce/seasoning selections. I love this joint. read more

I had to add a star for the amazing selection of craft beer! I was surprised to see the chalk board with all the selections listed in the bar area. It definitely gave this chain a smaller/more local feel. As far as the food goes, really the only person you can blame is yourself if you don't like what you get. I mean come on, you pick all the ingredients, toppings, spices, sauces, etc. I guess you can complain how it is cooked but I did see an old fogey micromanaging the cook, "add more water", "spread it out thinner", "flip the meat". Come on, chill out, enjoy and fill your belly! I did! read more

This is not our first trip...but we have eaten here quite a few times over the years....and to say its good is a bit stretching it in my opinion. The prices seem to me to be a bit high....I love asian food and other places...but I am not a huge BD's fan. Its location is very convenient to the Independence Events center and that's usually our go to place before a soccer or hockey game. read more

Two stars because we've come here before with no issues. However, the latest visit the waitress came to our table twice. Once at the beginning and once to bring our check. We had an issue either he rewards system to redeem a coupon and the manager comes to our table and says "yes?" and was extremely condescending and rude. Not a fan of rude management however the food is good if they don't burn it which is a 50/50 shot. read more

We came here today for a b-day celebration and the real party was in how great the food and service was!! If you don't eat here... then you are probably eating somewhere else and not nearly as happy as I am. Get some!! read more

Wonderful establishment. Clean, friendly staff. Cooks are entertaining. A little pricey but if u can fit it in your bowl they'll cook it.

I like the amount of options for things to out in your meal compared to places like hu hot, but they cook everything for everyone way too long. All of the food I saw was half blackened. Most if your cilantro and items like it will look like charcoal by the time it's done. read more

Went here for lunch the other day thinking it wouldn't be to bad because you make your own meal and I had a gift card. The way this works is they give you a bowl to fill up with what you like from different kinds of meat and vegetables. Then you go to the table with different spices and sauces and you create the flavor you like. You then get to watch them cook it in front of you and then you get to enjoy comes with your choice of white rice, brown rice, or tortillas. The food was good as I got everything I wanted and spiced how I like it after all I created the dish. For the food and my waitress I would give them 3.5 stars. The reason they are receiving 2 stars as I was paying for the meal with my gift card I was told I could not use it because they were changing gift card companies that day. I was informed that if I came back another time it would be good to use. Good thing I had another means to pay for the meal. I consider this poor management as could have been done on off hours. The manager did not come and tell me this he sent the message with my server. I would think if someone spent their money to give as a gift they should make arrangements to honor the card they sold with no restrictions. If your going to use your gift card here ask first to see if they will take it on that day. read more

Never again....need new management that knows how to order enough alcohol for their bar.

This place is no different than Genghis Grill in it's style but the food was not nearly as good. The staff were extremely friendly which is one of the only reasons I gave it two stars. The other reason was the beer selection, good grief! They should quit selling their flavorless food and just be a bar! It was amazing the amount of craft beers they had on draft and in the beer library. I could hang out there all day just to try different beers. Sadly the food was very bland, and somehow not very hot right off the grill. It just wasn't very good. So if you are looking for a place to drink go here, if you want to eat maybe try the Mexican place next door. read more

Stir fry kind of place With different stations 1) you get your bowl 2) choose your meat section 3) vegetables , 4) sauces . Then When your ready you bring it to the guys in a pit with a huge wok which they fry up your selection . They have a kids menu with chicken fingers and cheese bites . Also a dessert menu with fried Oreos as a choice . It was good . Friendly service . Prices are ok . Make sure you pile it on high . You only get 1 round or you pay $2.00 extra for a " all you can eat " but you can't get a doggy bag ... Must try if you've never experience it . read more

@bds_Mongolian Independence, mo. Saturdays happen every 7 days, so how is it they are out of Patron for their margaritas? Was just informed they are also out of their "Mango Madness". Their excuse was that they were 'busy'. Well, duh!!! It's a Saturday night!!!! How are you not stocked and ready to go at 6:30 pm on a Saturday? I suppose next they are going to say they are out of WATER!! Asked for 2 white rice and was given 1 white rice and 1flour tortillas. I guess English isn't their native language here. Their only saving grace were the cooks themselves. read more

So much of Mongolian BBQ depends on yourself to create a good dish and I must say that I did great. Ha ha But beyond that there is the rest of it. I have been here several times and it is always a great experience. Today was the most crowded I have seen it and the service was fantastic. I was seated quickly and a waitress was at my table right away. My cook was nice and full if personality as I watched him chatting and greeting people as he simultaneously cook and cleaned the entire cook top. Also, the manager did a great job of leading people from to an empty spot at the cook top. All in all, a very clean and well run place. I know I will return. read more

BD's Mongolian Grill - Enough said - Mongolian Near Me - Independence, Missouri

I'm surprised this place even has 3 stars. They're only getting 1 from me because I don't have a choice to put zero! Their staff is rude and uninviting. If you want to eat here I suggest you drive to the Overland Park location. I had a reservation and when I arrived my tables weren't even ready. I informed them that I wanted to go ahead and sit down for a less amount of people because we were hungry. They proceeded to spit off some policy BS that I was completely unconcerned with hearing. I merely wanted to seat who I had with me at the time and EAT. I had this reservation for my Father's 70th birthday and they just about ruined the entire mood. I will NEVER return to this location. EVER. We ended up at Outback Steakhouse for a much more enjoyable experience. read more

I have visited a few of these types of places and this my favorite. Plenty of choices of meats (including things like duck that i haven't seen elsewhere) and veggies as well as the sauce bar that I believe really sets BD's apart from others. Many people I have went to other Mongolian grills with struggle to combine the right combinations of ingredients to make a tasty sauce. That isn't an issue here, all their sauces can be used as is or for the more adventurous mixed to create your own masterpiece. The guys at the grill are friendly and it is fun to watch them cook the food (kids really like it). All the food including the modest salad bar is extremely fresh. They do have a full bar but I have had better drinks. Service is about average. Definitely worth the trip. read more

This restraunt is amazing the beat ever. I would highly recommend this place. If you ever have a chance you should visit here.

My husband and kids took me to BD'S for mother's day 5/8/16 . even though the restaurant was ridiculously crowded, we waited no more than 15 minutes for a table.
