I made reservations back in December and paid for the hotel stay back in December. I was supposed to be in Rome this week. This hotel does not refund your money even when your flight and entire vacation plans are cancelled by outside forces. Good lesson, don't make reservations at this hotel because you will not receive a refund, even when your entire vacation is cancelled. I recommend making reservations anywhere else, at any other hotel.

Beware! This Hotel May Steal You Money!…read more Be warned, this hotel refused to give me a refund for a seven night stay I had booked and paid for several months before when I was unable to arrive in Rome due to the fact that the pilots from the airline I was flying went on strike. As you can see from my reviews about hotels on this site, I travel a lot. So, I understand the way a good and honorable hotel will treat their customers. And, this is not it! To tell my story, approximately thirty-six hours before I was to fly to Rome, I get a notice from Lufthansa Airlines that they were experiencing a strike, and my flight had been cancelled. As this occurred last minute, I could not find another flight to get me to Rome on time. Due to this fact, I contacted River Palace Hotel with this information and asked for a refund. Here is their reply. "Thank you for your message and for informing us about your situation. We are sorry to hear about the disruption to your travel plans due to the flight cancellation. Unfortunately, according to the terms and conditions of your booking, the reservation is non-refundable. However, we can provide you with a confirmation of your booking, including all applicable terms and conditions. You may use this documentation to submit a claim with your travel insurance or the airline in order to request reimbursement of the costs. We understand the inconvenience this situation may cause and remain at your disposal should you need any further assistance. Kind regards, Tetyana Filyants Deputy Manager" As nice as that message sounds, this means they are keeping approximately two-thousand dollars of my money. I believe we can all understand that is simply the wrong way to do business. There is absolutely no reason that they cannot refund my money. And, no excuse they claim will make their decision just, decent, or acceptable. They are STEALING my money simply because of a situation that was completely out of my control! Keep this in mind, as it may happen to you if you book a room at this hotel.

A beautiful place, 100 years old and full of character, with excellent service and a great location. The hotel was small and charming, with only 49 rooms on five floors. The hallways and elevator were tiny by American standards, and our deluxe corner room--two categories above the base level--was just over 300 square feet. Not huge, but spacious enough for our needs. The bed was comfortable, as was the little seating area in the corner. The bathroom was disproportionately large, with a very nice shower. Everything was attractive, the aesthetic antiquey and thoroughly realized. Chevroned wood floors, heavy brocade drapery. A lot of gold, none of it garish, though I suppose you just get away with that in Rome. There was a TV in one corner, small and deemphasized, as if to say, why would one waste time here watching TV? Service was top notch, with a personal feel. Check-in was easy and pleasant, and we continued to interact with the front desk staff throughout our stay. They recommended restaurants and made us a reservation at a nearby trattoria. They greeted us every time we walked by. We were invited to leave our room key with them whenever we went out, so housekeeping knew when to go in. The room key was a substantial object, not a flimsy key card, so this also spared us from carrying it in our pockets. Housekeeping was thorough, and we got some good chocolate with turndown service. We made good use of Bar Locarno, which was both a stellar bar and a lovely all-day restaurant. We enjoyed cocktails on the patio and breakfast in the dining room. Fantastic cocktails and a luxurious breakfast, the latter included with our booking. We were out and about for most of our waking hours, but the hotel was an ideal home base. Centrally located, right by the Piazza del Popolo, a short walk from the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. We left to go to Florence then stayed at the Orient Express La Minerva when we came back. That hotel was more expensive and we got a ridiculously large room, but it was almost wasted on us, given the on-the-go nature of a Roman vacation. Hotel Locarno gave us everything we needed and more, and I hope to stay again the next time we visit Rome.

The staff treated us with immense hospitality that I've never experienced. Beautiful establishment…read moreand service, 11/10.

The hotel called an ambulance which took me to the closest hospital and Armando from the staff walked to the hospital with my wife and daughter and accompanied them for over an hour helping to communicate with hospital personnel and didn't leave until he knew I was being cared for. After my hospital visit was over and we went back to the hotel the staff helped translate my order and prescriptions. They were so helpful with everything else. They gave us a very good walking map of Rome with highlighted routes, a list of restaurants that they recommended and we were not disappointed in any that we went to, they scheduled taxi pickups, had umbrellas for the rain a great breakfast with awesome cappuccino and lattes and a happy hour. The rooms are comfy and very clean, the shower water flow is unreal ( felt like I was standing under a water fall). The staff at this place and I mean every one of them made me feel so welcomed and went above and beyond to help us with our needs. If I ever make it back Rome this is the only place I want to stay!

If you are with two people you must get a double room when we booked it online we choose single but they fixed it for us. It was $30 extra which was fine. The room had a really high ceiling and was decorated beautifully! The bathroom looked fancy as well and every worked. They provide soup, shampoo, shower caps, & a blow dryer. The wifi also worked so perfectly that we were able to stream movies on our phone! The breakfast buffet is from 7am-10am and was the best included breakfast we ever had! They have freshly squeezed orange juice, a bunch of cheese and deli meats, eggs, the best bacon ever & more! The staff was super friendly everywhere. The roof top looked exactly like the pictures on the website. It's so beautiful up there. We brought the $15 wine that's offered with the room and drank it up there. Surprisingly we had the whole rooftop to ourselves all night which was amazing! There is also a bus for €5.50 one way to & from the airport about 4 blocks away from the hotel that comes every half hour & takes around 45 minutes. Which totally beats the €48 taxi ride one way which takes around 35 minutes.
