New store hours!
Jasmine A.

It's a BC Liquor Store, so prices are cheaper than private liquor stores, and they have a decent selection, although you'd have to go to a specialty wine shop for certain items. But need a bottle of table wine for a Friday night? BC Liquor Store has you covered. The one thing that is different about this store from the other BC Liquor Stores is that it closes at 6pm every day, even on Friday and Saturday nights, as it caters to the work crowd. Not particularly convenient, but I get off early enough to be there well before 6pm, and I also work nearby, so I can just pop in during my lunch break and avoid the after work rush, which I have done on numerous occasions (I like my wine!). There was construction going on for a while, but it is now complete, so there is now a street entrance and a Cold Zone, so you can grab a bottle of chilled white on your way to a party. Update, Jan 20/17: They now have new store hours. Open until 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 6pm on Sundays. [Yelp collections: Wine Time!]

The renovations is what this store needed. It looks clean, modern and no longer has that scared feel. It looks more spacious. This store carries a nice selection. You can pretty much find anything here. They have even installed a cold zone where you can buy cold beers ready to be consumed. The staff are friendly and willing to help. Great experience.

Convenient to hotel. Nothing special. Safe walking to and from, prices seem ok, but I just bought some wine.

Upon first impressions, this is a small boutique sized wine store (we are in South Granville after all) that tries. It's a split level, the entrance (higher) level is wine, lower level (exit) is beers. There is a little bit of everything grouped by countries. A few bottles of each brand, and looks like a good mix of mid-priced to higher priced bottles. Appreciated the fridges lined with white wine. I imagine it serves as a good last minute "grab and go." I had a few minutes to browse before I was asked if I needed help. They didn't have the bottle I was seeking but the guy spent at least 5 to 10 minutes going over some other wines he recommended, taking my budget into account and asking other questions (i.e. was I looking for a specific varietal, region, etc.) He mentioned I could bring the bottle back if we were unsatisfied with the wine but I didn't ask how that would work... I would feel sheepish to bring back an opened bottle of wine. In the end I took a bottle that was recommended, within my budget, and though I had never heard of this winery before, turned out to be a great hit at dinner. Thanks!

Would give zero stars if I could. The clerk was incredibly condescending and accused me of being…read moreunderage. DO NOT GO HERE. What an ass hole

I'm a fan since this place meets all 2 criteria I have: 1) close to the hotel (just a block away…read morefrom the Holiday Inn) and 2) has screw top wines! I don't travel with a wine opener, so being able to pick up a bottle that's a screw top is very convenient. This store was clean and well organized. The store is small but packs a lot of selection. There is a wine section in the back that offered bottle of reds between $10-$20. I wasn't looking for anything fancy, so the options were right up my alley. I went with a bottle of Cono Sur Bicicleta, a Cabernet Sauvignon (Wine of Chile 2012) for $14. It's medium-bodied, dry and fruity. You might find it cheaper at LCBO, but not by much. The label reads: A deep plum red with aromas of red fruit, cassis, black plums, and soft spices, together with a fruity, structured palate. Goes well with strong cheese, hearty stews and grilled cuts of beef.

They have a big bank of fridges with all the usual suspects ready for your enjoyment. The staff is friendly and they check you through quickly, even if there's a line up on Friday evening. However, it's not a great place to buy wine. The selection is all pretty cheap stuff - and not the cheap stuff that was chosen wisely because they're diamonds in the rough. Most of the wines here are cheap and taste like it. I'm a girl who's always shopping for a delicious bottle for under $15, so I've drank my share of cheap wines. I have my favourites and they aren't for sale here. The do accept bottle returns in the back. So if you live near here you can recycle up to 24 bottles in a visit.

We were fortunate enough to snag a tiny one by the pool tables but it wasn't big enough for food and drinks so we ended up moving before ordering food. We shared a small plate of nachos and a chicken wrap with fries. I don't recommend the guacamole, as it wasn't very fresh and just had a weird texture. The food was very average in my opinion. At least they have a decent beer list. They had karaoke and there was a steady stream of people waiting to take their turn on the microphone. Those folks were much braver than me, that's for sure. I love that they still have pull tab machines, those are always going to take some of my money, if for nothing else but the nostalgia. I ended up winning a few bucks, so that added to the overall positive experience. Service was ok - there seemed to be a bit of confusion over who our server was, but once that was resolved, we had no issues. It was fairly loud but not so much that we couldn't still carry on a conversation. I'd probably go back, because there are not too many places in the area that still have a pool table.

Look at the color of the beer; see picture. It was so good and refreshing! My only regret was not buying more. Ambiance - A decent size location in a very busy tourist area. Well this place was not busy and it seemed like there were only locals shopping?!?! Open 7 days a week from 9am to 11pm. Service - 5 stars, the cashier called someone from the back so he could help me find those perfect craft beers. He spent quite a few minutes with me going over the many selections. Then the locals and I hung out for a few more minutes discussing all the different types of beers they carried. Price - Convenience prices, see pictures. But it was worth it.
