Government liquor store inside the Harbour Centre building complex. This location is actually quite hidden if one approaches the complex the S entrance (where the tower elevators are located). It is located on L1, towards the N end of the building (away from the food court). I had to walk around like an idiot for several minutes to find this place. They really need better signage inside. Best to approach from the N (Cordova) side instead. Parking here is awful. Best to take transit. The store is noticeably smaller than other locations, which severely limits the selection. Knock 1 star off. Fortunately they still the main categories. Great for grabbing a few bottles in a pinch. read more

Seen as you obviously fired that other lady I was planning on buying myself a little treat but your security guard was so incredibly rude to me that I walked out and yeah I made sure I had my bottle of Coca Cola in my hand. He kept giving me the middle finger. You don't sell food your service suck and ambiance? I'd rather go drink from a dirty toilet. I wouldn't recommend this place if they were giving away free stuff. And as always you don't deserve the one star but I am forced to give it out of pittance. Now I see people stealing from you I turn a blind eye and walk away. I sure as heck wouldn't be telling you if I saw someone stealing because if that's how you treat people then you absolutely deserve it because it's KARMA! He should be working on a construction site where he doesn't have to interact with people period. Oh yeah I stole a bunch of lottery tickets from you. Ha ha ha jokes on you because you don't sell lotto! And that woman that worked there her personal hygiene was absolutely atrocious! If I did that I'd be three strikes and you're out from my employer especially when you have to deal with the public. When you're on the floor wearing your uniform you are being paid to represent the company and its brand! Allowing that kind of behavior is absolutely disgusting unacceptable and abhorrent. It's a pretty small store compared to other BC Liquor stores, but it carries pretty much everything you need. Sometimes there can be a bit of a line, but they will then open the side counter. Customer service on the floor is lacking, but the cashiers are always friendly. Prices are better then cold beer & wine stores. I just wish this location was open until 11pm read more

It's a BC Liquor Store, so prices are cheaper than private liquor stores, and they have a decent selection, although you'd have to go to a specialty wine shop for certain items. But need a bottle of table wine for a Friday night? BC Liquor Store has you covered. The one thing that is different about this store from the other BC Liquor Stores is that it closes at 6pm every day, even on Friday and Saturday nights, as it caters to the work crowd. Not particularly convenient, but I get off early enough to be there well before 6pm, and I also work nearby, so I can just pop in during my lunch break and avoid the after work rush, which I have done on numerous occasions (I like my wine!). There was construction going on for a while, but it is now complete, so there is now a street entrance and a Cold Zone, so you can grab a bottle of chilled white on your way to a party. I was here yesterday, looking for some Irish whiskey to give as a Christmas gift. Upon entering the store, I was impressed with the large interior, the lay-out and the clearly designated sections. And that's where I stopped being impressed. Perhaps it's just me, as I read how other reviewers are lauding the great customer service here, but my experience was the polar opposite. This was the first time I visited this large store and I needed assistance in finding what I needed. I went to the customer service counter, centrally located and near the front door. It has a big circular counter and there was a guy seated behind it, chatting it up with a woman on my side of the counter. And they chatted and chatted and it wasn't about alcohol. The guy saw me but didn't acknowledge me in any way. After waiting 4-5 minutes, listening to their friendly convo, I decided to just try to find the whiskeys (and other liquors) myself. I encountered a friendly security guard in an aisle and asked him where to find something, but he said he had no idea and recommended me go to the customer service guy at the round counter. (No way. He was still talking to the girl). After wandering a while, I found what I wanted. Their selection was decent and the prices, okay (for Vancouver standards, anyhow). The check-out line moved well and the guy who rung me up was professional but impersonal. If you're the type of person who knows what they want and doesn't need or want help finding it in the store, and if you don't care if you get a friendly check-out experience, then this is the store for you. Convenient to hotel. Nothing special. Safe walking to and from, prices seem ok, but I just bought some wine.

The renovations is what this store needed. It looks clean, modern and no longer has that scared feel. It looks more spacious. This store carries a nice selection. You can pretty much find anything here. They have even installed a cold zone where you can buy cold beers ready to be consumed. The staff are friendly and willing to help. The cheapest downtown liquor spot! This place does get crowded Fridays at 5pm, but overall I find this store to be easy to shop. The aisles have slightly more breathing room than the store I go to on Cambie. Likewise, the displays and stack-outs (containing glass bottles) look a little more secure. So I don't fear starting a domino reaction and paying a shitload for glorious liquor that is spilled all over the floor. (Would anyone stop to lick it up for free? Disturbing thought) Plan ahead, don't wait to late to go, and you'll save yourself money and time. read more

I am by no means someone who goes to the liquor store on a regular basis and I am not a wine connissieur (sp?) whatsoever.... so... I always wonder if there is a structure to how liquor stores work... similar to a grocery store - produce usually to the left, dairy in the back.. make a giant circle before heading to the cash to check out... you know, that sort of thing. great.. the wines are listed by countries.... but I only know red wines by shiraz, merlot.. and whites as pinot grigio, chardonnay etc... At least I'm glad that they have little tags with "picks of the week" although that could be from 8 weeks ago, who knows. I think it's really a battle of wine marketers who can best describe their wine on the back of the label.... so I'm not trying to put down this liquor store because it's fine...... I'm just saying I wish I was better at it! read more

I love BCL. I love that it's a government-owned company and that the staff clearly are lifers. I'm sure they are union represented and have benefits and all that jazz. Also, the people who research and stock those shelves do an excellent job. This particular BCL is pretty small so the selection is limited but I find they have a great list of BC VQA wines for less than $30, which is really all I care about, in addition to the usual stuff (like basic gins and beers). I also found that they have a decent selection of soju and sake. This place DOES have strange hours, though, I think; sometimes I expect it to be open and it's not. read more

Admittedly, my rating and review isn't so much about the store itself as it is about the excellent customer service I received from a gentleman named Bodie who works at this location. I popped in on a Saturday night in search of bubbles to give as a host gift for a party. Being more of a Scotch/Bourbon girl myself, a deer-caught-in-a-headight-esque expression overtook my face as I stared at the wall of bottles, not knowing where to start. Bodie proactively came to my rescue and offered oodles of knowledge in an easygoing, engaging, enthusiastic manner - minus any snobbish attitude I might expect from many other specialty stores. Additionally, he stayed within a very reasonable price point! I will certainly head back to this store to seek Bodie's advice again - and it seems like I won't be the only one, given how many positive comments some nearby customers were expressing aloud as well :D Three Cheers to Bodie! be VERY careful at this location. today i purchased a 6 pack of ciders which was $12.29 (not including tax). when i got to the till, he rang through the drinks and i thought i saw a "$1.00 donation" added quickly but brushed it off because he didn't say anything or ask if i wanted to donate. Now that i'm sitting at home and looking at my receipt (which is $15.73 which is a 30% increase on $12.29), i realize i was definitely over charged. Thankfully i can actually afford being ripped off but some people can't, so PLEASE check your receipts...and also BCL....don't let people get away with this stuff. it's very upsetting read more

The most convenient downtown government liquor store. It's right across form Waterfront station, which isn't too out of the way when your fleeing the downtown work day. They have an average beer selection for a government liquor store. I wish they could do better since they get a lot of traffic and have a competitive independent across the street. Unfortunately, this BC Liquor Store is probably the closest government liquor store near where I live...and it still isn't that close! Regardless, I am able to hop on the SkyTrain to Waterfront Station and walk a block, which really isn't too bad. Now you're probably wondering why I would go to this effort to avoid a private liquor store that might be closer, right? Well if you are aware of the booze prices in BC, and in particular, prices from private stores, you will understand that the government stores are significantly cheaper for everything! Plus the selection is more often than not, superior to the competition. Of course, the only downside are the hours, BC Liquor closes at 6pm and isn't open on Sundays, so should you need to go for a late night libations run, you'll likely find yourself shelling out more cash at a private store. BC Liquor doesn't carry any drinking accoutrements, such as mix or limes, but that's what the grocery store is for! I mean, we aren't in America! read more

The only reason I'll give this place 4 stars is because it's cheap. And honestly that's what it's all about! Service is shocking though, often rude. I've had a nice lady serve me once. Security guard stalks me worse than my ex, funny cause I no doubt make more money than him lol, asshole. Still, it's cheap. See ya in there! ;) read more
