While you're at the counter, look up ... way up on the shelves and you'll find a great selection of dessert wines from BC. Dessert wines (especially coveted ice wines) make excellent boozy presents. They didn't have the bottle I was seeking but the guy spent at least 5 to 10 minutes going over some other wines he recommended, taking my budget into account and asking other questions (i.e. was I looking for a specific varietal, region, etc.) He mentioned I could bring the bottle back if we were unsatisfied with the wine but I didn't ask how that would work... I would feel sheepish to bring back an opened bottle of wine. The staff are always friendly and attentive to the needs and palates of each patron. We've never been steered in the wrong direction from any of their suggestions. Plus, they recently acquired a new staff member: an adorable little puppy. Bonus points for being dog friendly (even Scrappy was grateful for the treats at checkout) and having water outside for furry friends passing by. On Sunday afternoon's they host themed wine tastings inside the store. I've only managed to make it to a couple so far but plan on many more this summer. Cheers!
