We got there when it was still dark out. We had VIP tickets I think or whatever they are called. We went upstairs where the second hour is filmed. What a great time. The celebrities have a job to do but they are really friendly. Especially Robin and Laura. Very outgoing and engaging. We took photos with Robin at the end. She is very friendly and put up with my bad jokes. It was a highlight of our trip. There were a couple of free gifts at the end as well. Lucky us! I would definitely do this again; so much fun!

Unfortunately, lately I don't find the program as interesting or informative as it once was. The content feels repetitive, and there seems to be a strong focus on shopping segments. At times, it feels more like QVC than a national morning news program. The cast is wonderful, and I truly enjoy them. However, I would love to see more real news coverage -- important stories from across the United States and around the world. That's what made the show special to me. Today, I actually turned off the TV because the focus was again on product promotions and free shipping offers. I say this respectfully, as a long-time viewer who genuinely values the program and hopes to see it return to more substantial news coverage. Thank you for listening to a loyal viewer's feedback.

SNL was created by Lorne Michaels and began in 1975 with the first show hosted by the famous George Carlin. The show follows a consistent format with a series of comedy sketches that lampoon current events and politicians. The caricatures are generally relatable thanks to talented artists and actors, such as Dan Ackroyd's portrayal of the clumsy Gerald Ford, Tina Fey portrayed Sarah Palin (who hilariously appeared side by side briefly), Phil Hartman's hilarious Bill Clinton and Dana Carvey's spot-on impression of George H.W. Bush. The show features a host (usually a movie star flogging their latest movie) and a musical guest (as the years go by, I recognize fewer and fewer of them). It starts with the host's monologue, a few skits, a live song by the musical guest, a few more skits, a "Weekend Update" current events news segment, another live song, and a final skit or two. Usually the host appears in a self-deprecating bit and if we're lucky, the musical guest does as well. Sometimes they'll stay in character and sometimes you'll spot them obviously reading the cue cards. Several actors who appeared on SNL have spun off highly successful movie and television careers. Chevy Chase and Eddie Murphy are now a big stars, but weren't always. Steve Martin, Chris Farley and others. Andy Samberg has a successful television show, Brooklyn 99. Mike Myers made two full length Wayne's World movies out of his Wayne Campbell character with sidekick Garth Algar. Some bits transcend the time since they appeared live, including the Church Lady, MacGruber (Will Forte and Kristen Wiig), Jeopardy! with Will Ferrell (and occasionallyDarrell Hammond and Norm MacDonald). The wonderful Olympia Cafe (cheeseburger! cheeseburger! No Coke! Pepsi!). "More Cowbell" with the scene stealing Will Ferrell appearing with Christopher Walken as Blue Oyster Cult is working on their song "Don't Fear (the Reaper)." Yeah, it's good. Sometimes, it's unfunny. Sometimes, it's downright stupid. But LIVE FROM NEW YORK! IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT! [Review 15993 overall - 315 in New York - 1498 of 2021.]

Live With Kelly and Mark recently moved to Hudson Square and it is a nice are and not as crazy and crowded as upper west side. In order to check in, your entire party needs to be there. There is a wait before you go in... after you check in you will get a wristband with a number on it. Once you start going in, you go through security, then take the elevator down to the holding area. There is restrooms downstairs and water fountain. While you wait, you there are pictures of Kelly and Mark and some guests they have had on the show. Hint: Dress your best if you want a chance to sit close to where the guests come out. Once they call your numbers, you will go in to be seated. Inside there are two levels, lower and upper, they will tell you where to sit. So much fun to be part of the taping. While waiting, videos of Kelly and Mark show on the screen which is cool. Kelly and Mark interact and take pictures and selfies with audience members during the breaks. Gelman and staff cue the audience when to clap. Stump Mark was fun! For those who want to dance, you have to audition and the winner will get picked based on the audience... congrats and great job Emily for our taping (we voted for you!)! :) Besides Kelly & Mark, The View and Tamron Hall also films downstairs so make sure you are on the right line. We got to see the 10/2 taping with Glen Powell and Paige DeSorbo and it was Kelly's Birthday celebration! Happy Birthday Kelly!!! Big Fudgie the Whale cake to celebrate! Too bad it was too frozen for knife to cut through ... the audience couldn't get to share in after... but all good! Still had fun! Don't forget to purchase merch on the way out!! Picked up I Love Stump Mark t-shirt and a pair of the black Live With Kelly & Mark mugs!! We'll be back again! Love the show!

These days, music videos are watched far more often online than on TV. Music videos of the rising talent makes the Video Music Awards a reliable venue for a fun and often avant garde fashion show with Artists taking risks that people young and old might avoid at more traditional award shows. The risks are a good reason to watch or in my case, glimpse the Sunday spectacle on September 7th, which included feathery pastel boas, fluffy hats, bedazzled cups, and a Labubu doll dressed as an astronautical Moon Person! This year's ceremony aired, on CBS owned by Paramount, included Ariana Grande for video of the year; Lady Gaga for artist of the year; Rosé and Bruno Mars for song of the year ("APT."); and Alex Warren for best new artist. Enjoy!

I WANT MY MTV!!!!!!! The early 80s+ anthem!…read more The "I want my MTV" campaign included ads where rock stars such as Pete Townsend and the Police would say "I want my MTV," endorsing the channel. Music Television officially launched on 8-1-1981, airing music videos and related programs hosted by video jockeys, or VJs. Martha Quinn, the "girl next door" VJ still hosts a daily show on Sirius XM Radio's "The 80s on 8" station. MTV dominated pop culture in the 80s! The first words when MTV initially aired were spoken by one of MTV's creators, John Lack: "Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll." A nod, perhaps, to the iconic, legendary Lemmy Kilmister's opening of every Motorhead show with, "We are Motorhead...And We play rock and roll!" Because of MTV, I threw teenage caution to the wind and paid for my family's cable television! This was a serious commitment in 1981. My favorite artists' videos at that time were Stevie Nicks, Billy Idol, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the Police, Ratt (who's autograph I got when they came to Huntsville), U2, ZZ Top, and of course Van Halen (in the David Lee Roth or "Diamond Dave") days! Who can forget the iconic moment Courtney Cox was pulled onstage in the Bruce Springsteen video, "Dancing in the Dark?!" That was an adorable moment and probably a game-changer for her pending generations-long acting career! Stand out videos were Michael Jackson's "Thriller," "Billie Jean," and "Beat it"(all in 1983); "1999" by Prince in 1983; and Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again" featuring Tawny Kitaen in 1987. We were all glued to MTV on July 13, 1985, when MTV showed the Live Aid concerts (broadcasting 16 hours of coverage,) held in London and Philadelphia and organized by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia. The 1983 US Festival from 5/28/83-5/30/83 featured Van Halen who headlined on "Heavy Metal Day." To experience VH, my crew and I rented a hotel room (Kings Inn, S. Memorial Parkway, Huntsville - still there to this day); rounded up our 110 cameras, stocked up on fast food takeout, filled the bathtub with ice and cold bottled of Busch, and settled in to watch the show on the room's cable TV and enjoy the swimming pool. ((Good times!!)) Other than a few interesting videos in the 90s, MTV pretty much died for me in the 80s. It was a great ride, though! Thank you MTV!

Chopped has always been a favorite of mine, along with all the competitive chef cook offs and Giada's cooking shows. There's just something about watching talented chefs think on their feet and create amazing dishes under pressure that pulls you in every time. In my early 20s, it was definitely my go to. Whether I was relaxing, looking for inspiration, or just had it on in the background while cooking, Food Network was always playing. It actually helped me grow in the kitchen...learning new techniques, flavor combinations, and getting creative with what I had on hand. I also love the variety of shows they offer. I do wish the Food Network would reduce (or better yet eliminate entirely) the amount of "competition" shows and game shows. I've been pleased with most Food Network branded products I have bought over the years and have enjoyed most of the Food Network books I have purchased, especially "The Food Network Test Kitchen Cookbook!" I loved Chef Robert Irvine's "Restaurant Impossible," and "Dinner Impossible" and was absolutely elated when Restaurant Impossible made over a restaurant in my county called "The Main Dish." We couldn't wait to visit the restaurant after the makeover and it was really good, especially for the small town it was located in, Meridianville, Alabama. Other chefs I enjoy are Ree Drummond, Ina Garten, and I like some of Giada De Laurnetiiis' recipes. Who can forget Food Network's sister channel, "The Cooking Channel" that airs/aired fun shows like "Bitchin Kitchen" with Nadia G., "Extra Virgin" with Debi Mazar, and my favorite, Bobby Deen's "Not My Mama's Meal." Thanks Food Network for entertaining, enlightening, and educating us!
