Hidden little gem! Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Amazing wine and beer selection! The low star reviews seem a bit petty, it appears this place is new and just settling in to Tacoma south. The food was perfectly cooked. My chicken was superior tender, and moist. Everything was crisp and fresh from the fryer. Flavors were so balanced between sweet and spicy, even though we ordered some of the spiciest chicken on the menus. The rice ball appetizer was a savory yet slightly sweet treat, we were so hungry from all the amazing smells we almost forgot to take a picture! Our new favorite chicken spot. We will be back for sure!

Look here. You ever ate somethin' so dang good, that a song played in your head? If yo' answer is no--lemme get a moment of silence for your poor, elementary, dead tongue...of taste. I feel bad for you if you haven't had that kind of experience with food. Ummm...yeah one could say: "well, your greedy an...an a bit 'fluffy in weight. So of course you'd hear music. You would hear music while violently licking a torn Twinkie wrapper"??!!! Then I would say, "There is no need to get all disrespectful. Besides--I find a private corner and I lick them when no one is lookin'. AND...at LEAST my tongue tasters are well balanced & they have discriminate taste to all that the good LORD allows me to partake of culinary wise and HE blesses for me to eat". Anyway, I ordered two kinds: Honey Garlic and Secret Sauced Chicken. My sweet Baby Cow (as I dare not use my LORDS name in vain) I tried the Secret Sauced and... First my fellow 'Yelpers', I heard the violins of the song and then--Annie Lennox of The Eurythmics comes in with that determined voice: "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)".... Yes Sir. Yes Ma'am. I dedicate THAT song...to this here Chicken at 'Olives'. This stuff here is what sweet dreams are made of. One thing to note. The Korean style fried chicken (and this is most) is 'hacked' into pieces leaving only the drumstick and wings intact. I think this is genius and serves three purposes. 1.) Presentation 2.) Marination & 3.) Faster cooking. I point this out because you might find yourself snacking on bits of rib bone or back bone if that kind of thing disgust you. Don't bother me none. I lick the remaining 'cake' off the torn 'Twinkie' wrappers (remember) but whatever you do--DON'T aka DO NOT pass this treat up. You playin' yo'self if you do. I promise you. The Korean BBQ capitalizes beautifully on something we ALL desire in fried Chicken and that is CRUNCH! This place emphasizes tasty, flavor-packed crunchy bits that does not succumb to the sauce by becoming soggy. The Honey Garlic was nice & balanced with a good garlic flavor and again...that awesome almost 'Post Grape Nut Cereal' (yep you know it...) CRUNCH. The nice young lady name 'Luna' was masked but you could hear in her voice & see in her eyes a genuine welcoming into the establishment. I told her I wanted something spicy but not 'hot' and she therefore recommended the 'Secret Sauce Chicken'. It is this beautifully red, sticky, sweet-spicy, sauce that the crunchy chicken is slathered with. Awesome. The Honey Garlic is not as saucy but sticky nevertheless and yes...Awesome. On South Tacoma Way, 'Olives' is tucked over in a corner on the opposite end of 'Shin Shin' (a store) behind Jack in Box. You won't see the name 'Olives' however, you will see a round white sign wit a Chicken on it and then the words "BBQ Chicken & Pub". Interior is that typical cement flooring look...dark ambiance. Though empty, it appeared to be a really clean space. I ordered to go however. Yes.... "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), Who am I to disagree..." I cannot & I will DEFINITELY--be back.

There were only a few tables inside but almost half of them were already occupied with several customers. I was quickly seated for a table of 1. The tables are fairly close together and the noise level is low enough to hear conversations around me. I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but I did hear other customers comment at their tables that the food here is good. There's a few ajummas working here, so service was straightforward. I ordered the kalbi dolsot bibimbap, which seemed inexpensive and came with some complementary sides, and they were nice enough to cut my kalbi into bite-sized pieces for me. I would say, if I can finish my food in one sitting at a restaurant, I am either really hungry, satisfied, or both. In this case, it was both! This is my first dolsot bibimbap after moving to Washington recently, and I am glad it did not disappoint.

We ordered the galbi, bulgogi, galbi-tang, seafood tofu soup, kimchi fried rice, and beef fried rice. Everything was incredibly flavorful, and they included a variety of fresh kimchi on the side. Even with multiple dishes, our order was prepared within minutes. Such a cute mom-and-pop restaurant with great food, fair prices, and excellent customer service. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

Prices were high, that's fine considering how things are right now. But where I draw the line is forcing me to change my tip amount in front of my family because I believed that tips should be used as a reward system for above and beyond service. I tipped a good 10%. But because of my family size and which wasn't stated anywhere on the menu or the facility, I was embarrassed in front of my family and asked to raise it to a minimum of 15%. A shame that this wasn't just reflected in the already high menu prices. Pay your employees instead of having them resort to such atrocious aggressive tactics and begging. I previously refused to come back. But was only here due to a Mother's day request. I will now aggressively push back to anyone that even recommends this restaurant.

Although he was able to explain the AYCE rules thoroughly, he lacked the basic knowledge of what the sauce contained. He also kept asking if we wanted the grill changed. We explained that once the grill was "seasoned," the food would not stick; which is why we didn't want it changed... yet he asked if we wanted it changed right after this. I also asked for more napkins, he brought one. The ventilation in this restaurant is horrendous, the smoke and heat from the grill were unpleasant for anyone sitting near the wall. I had to move seats after I was done cooking, because the heat was making me sweat profusely. A female employee came by and asked if we needed anything, and I asked for napkins (to wipe the sweat off my face). She looked at me as if I was asking for a slice of pizza. I asked her if there was a problem, because of the look she gave me. She responded, "no." I got the feeling as though she didn't want to give us napkins for some reason. Again, the food was good, but the service was terrible.

The Korean food is listed in Korean...so unless you ask questions, you may not know what you're ordering. In the past I have tried the Bulgogi, which is good and comes with banchan--but a little pricey. This time around we chose Mongolian Beef and Teriyaki Chicken with Gyoza. The Mongolian Beef was not good. I didn't care for the sauce, the meat was chewy, and the styrofoam noodles were rancid--and there were a lot of them! The actual portion size was pretty small. The salad on the plate with the Teriyaki and Gyoza was big chunk of lettuce with a giant glob of dressing--pretty unappealing. Service was mediocre. There were flies buzzing around as we ate. I think we are the only Americans in here right now. Pretty busy for dinner. Not really sure that we would return, better places in the area. Overall 2.5 rating.

I stopped by around 9:30pm by myself.. jeez, the parking lot was absolutely packed. Every single spot in the main lot was taken, so I had to park in the isolated back area and walk to the front. Not an ideal parking situation imo, especially at night, if you're alone like I was. Thankfully there's sufficient lighting. The restaurant itself is pretty small with only a handful of tables, and it was EXTREMELY busy. There were already at least two parties waiting ahead of me, and there's barely any room near the entrance to wait comfortably. Only about four chairs available to sit and wait. It took about five minutes before any staff member acknowledged me, but to be fair, I guess everyone looked like they were running nonstop trying to take care of tables and orders. Eventually, a middle-aged male staff member came over and kindly asked how many [for a table] and when I told him "just a table for 1," he explained there would be a wait since there were no tables currently available. He spoke decent English thankfully, so it was easy to converse, and once I told him I was willing to wait, he remained polite and attempted to figure out the table seating situation. Based on his attitude and willingness to accommodate me, I decided to stay despite the hectic first impression. That's mainly why this is 4 stars instead of 5. He was nice enough to offer me a cup of water while I waited, I said yes, and he brought it out immediately. I waited about 30 minutes before finally being seated. By that point I was absolutely famished, so I ordered the BBQ Intestine Combo A along with a corn cheese appetizer. The Combo A is supposedly enough for 2 to 3 people, but I can definitely eat lol. It also came with bean sprout soup, Korean salad, and complimentary side dishes. The soup was decent. I didn't really care for the salad personally since I'm not much of a salad person. They also asked if I wanted rice, and they brought out the Korean-style rice mixed with (i think?) grains/beans/barley that I really enjoy at every Korean restaurant. The corn cheese was super good! It was cheesy, flavorful, and not watery like some places make it. I finished the entire thing. The BBQ intestine combo itself was absolutely delicious. It came out cooked really well and piping hot with veggies. Everything tasted savory and satisfying after such a long day. The combo included small and large intestines, beef stomach, and pork heart. I ended up eating about 85% of it before finally giving up and asking for a small takeout box so I can enjoy the rest later (which still tasted amazing after tossing in the air fryer). My total ended up being around $111 including tip, which is definitely pricey, but my stomach was very satisfied and the food was totally worth it. The atmosphere here is very lively. Throughout my meal, I noticed several Asian families dining together, mostly Korean with some Vietnamese families as well. You could hear laughter from most of the tables and even the kitchen staff. If you're sensitive to loud or crowded restaurants, dine-in may not suit your preference. Overall though, I would absolutely recommend this place for the food. Just be prepared for waits, limited seating, and a crowded environment. If you're dining with family, impatient with wait times, or prefer quieter places, takeout may be the better option. I did notice they seemed a little more naturally comfortable interacting with Korean customers, but I noticed the Korean party in front of me waited just about as long for their table, and personally, I did not experience any discrimination and felt I received fair service throughout my visit.
