The community is always clean, pet-friendly, and has plenty of street parking, which makes life so convenient. The pool and amenities are absolutely amazing and truly stand out compared to other apartments in California--definitely top-tier! The staff Andrea and Clark are incredibly friendly and helpful, treating you like a valued part of the community from day one. It's rare to find a place that feels this welcoming and well-maintained. I highly recommend Union Apartments to anyone looking for the best living experience!

We are able to fit our king size bed a twin bunk bed a crib and 2 dressers in the room and STILL have room to walk around. It's HUGE! Our living room is a good size as well. The manager is so sweet and understanding and will do her best to attend to issues as quickly as possible. We like most of our neighbors. We are the type of people that like to know who we live with. We love our apartment and the neighborhood it's in. Very quiet and calm. Great walking/biking path along the street. There's a 711 a couple restaurants and a bar right down the street within walking distance and there's a park 1/2 a mile away in the opposite direction. We love this place and don't plan to move any time soon ... unless it's to a 2 bedroom in the same complex.

My husband and I moved here with our kids in December. I have read some of the reviews from other…read moreresidents that I don't agree with. The apartments are older, so there are definitely more issues than a brand new building would have. I work in property management, so I am picky where it counts. Maintenance is extremely fast with responding to our service requests. The grounds are always clean and well kept up. Being so close to the ocean is definitely the best feature. We walk to the beach and ride bikes down the estuary trails with our kids. One downside is only having one parking space, but I have never not found street parking.

The worst experience of my life. The carport storage is constantly broken into, and I'm pretty sure…read moreit's an inside job since the people doing it seem to know exactly what they're doing. They cut your lock and then take it. I had over $2,300 worth of tools stolen after I left for a holiday weekend. There's mold in the upstairs bathroom no matter how long I leave the window open. The lease policy states that cats must be indoors and dogs must be on a leash, yet the neighbors seem to think those rules don't apply to them. After complaining, all management does is send out emails -- even though it's a clear violation of the lease agreement. People don't pick up after their pets, which causes other animals to get sick. The rent increases are ridiculous for what you get -- no A/C, no dishwasher, and no in unit laundry. Sure, they remodeled the exterior and installed cameras watching the carports, but they refuse to provide footage when something is stolen. They make you file a police report before they'll even speak to the security company. They claim there's a security guard who patrols at night, but I've lived here for two years and have never seen them. Ants! Ants everywhere, no matter how much you clean. The community washers are constantly broken, and people from the other side of the complex come to use yours because they've figured out how to get free washes and drying. My biggest frustration is the constant car and storage break-ins -- especially when we live right down the road from the sheriff's department. I've had a car stolen, and street parking is horrid, particularly when the school is having a baseball game or the sports complex is hosting events since people seem to think it's okay to park in the apartment lot. On top of all that, there's a constant smell of dirty Tijuana sewage. The only positive thing is the proximity to town and the easy commute to the military bases.

I've been living here for about a year and a half and am overall pretty happy with it. I'll begin…read morewith what could be improved: - Roaches. I'm a clean person who has never had an insect problem before, and I see/kill about a few roaches per day. At least they aren't scorpions or millipedes. - Neighbors. Some used to play loud music, after notifying management and pitching a fit, its now pretty quiet in my corner of the building. - Street noise. Depending on where you are in the buildings, it can be super loud. I live by the intersection and can hear the trolleys, a midnight train (it goes anywhere, I guess), emergency vehicles Now for the positives! - Love the layout. Unlike other one bedroom apartments, this one is sectioned so that it feels like you have more rooms instead of one big space. There is a bar that separates the kitchen from the living room, with built in cupboards above it. The kitchen is a good size, it's a square space instead of a crunched rectangular area where you can't move. The sink/vanity is separated from the toilet and shower, the counters are white speckled and the nicest out of all the apartments I've ever been in . Cleaning them is easy and they don't stain. It's got a very roomy walk in closet with built in shelving, there is also a built in linen closet in the bathroom. Lots of places to organize things. A very roomy living room and dining area with ceiling fans, and a tiled entry way is great. - Balcony/patio. Depending on where you are, it can be a private space. I love mine, a refreshing breeze is always rustling the leaves of the trees outside and the sound is so calming. - Double doors. In addition to a double lock front door, there is also a locking metal see through door in front of it. Having those together makes me feel safer. - Air conditioner. Mine is located in the kitchen, other units have theirs in the living room. I do a lot of cooking and like where it's placed. It cools down the living room quickly. The bedroom has a ceiling fan which helps keep it cool while I sleep. - Medicine cabinet and big mirror. The vanity mirror is a several feet wide and at least four feet tall, with a mirrored medicine cabinet next to it. Compared to other apartments, this is a ton of mirror space. The vanity also has working drawers and a special space to sit if desired. - Good toilet. I've never had problems with my toilet overflowing or being a problem, it's also raised so the person using it isn't falling down. - Landlord. I've never had a problem with management being rude to me or my partner. Whenever I call, they are courteous, and resolve my issues immediately. I had a neighbor who played loud music during the night, I told Patty and she spoke to them until they stopped. They've been the best managers of any apartment I've had. Also, they are available every day from around 9 - 6, even Sundays. I think that's really convenient and I feel better knowing that they're there if we need them. I also haven't had a problem with parking. I've only ever had to park across the street once, and it was a holiday weekend. - Trash, there is a garbage chute a short walk from my door. I like being able to drop it in the slot instead of hauling a messy bag above my head and hoping I get it in the dumpster (I'm five feet tall). - Location. I am walking distance to downtown La Mesa, a few parks. It's also high up on a hill, the view East at night is really pretty. - Pet friendly. You are allowed 2 dogs or 2 cats, I don't believe you have to pay a pet deposit for birds or small animals. There is a waste station with poo bags and an attached trash can for dog walking. There used to be a big problem with people not cleaning up after their dogs, however for the last few months it's been poo free for the most part. - Well lit. That's what made me decide on this apartment, the kitchen has multiple windows and is next to the patio, if you open the blinds, you don't need to turn lights on during the day. The white cupboards and appliances help the apartment to look spacious and clean. There are also many lights that come with the apartment, I only bought a few lamps. The bathroom also has a fan light and a heat lamp. I love the heat lamp during the winter. The vanity and sink area have massive light bulbs that are super bright, you could unscrew some if you'd like it dimmer. I like it to put my make up on.

First off they don't clean anything outside of the complex. Absolutely nothing. Smells like piss on the elevators and inside the laundry rooms. The apartments itself are nice at first glance, wait about a week and everything starts falling apart. The counters are painted very cheaply so everything stains right away. Im a very clean person. As soon as a drop of coffee landed on the counter, it STAINED! They say the facilities are open 24/7 they're only open when the office is open. 9am-6pm. Everything gets locked up when they go home. The washer and dryers NEVER work! Upon move out we cleaned the place spotless! We emailed the leasing office to do a walk through, well because of covid, we couldn't be there. That already made me uneasy because I wouldn't be able to be there while they looked at things. They emailed us back saying the windows on the outside of the 3rd floor are dirty! you got to be kidding me! The 3rd floor!? So then my gf goes back to clean more and they sent her an email of what we needed to pay for. Long story short we ended having to pay to move out!!! The place was SPOTLESS! I have the pictures to prove it. Eff these people.

The water goes out almost every week and they never notify residents anymore. They used to send notifications before, but suddenly they just stopped communicating. Whenever you try to find the manager, she's never available. It feels more like it's done for appearances rather than for the residents. Very disappointing experience.

Bella Vista Apartment located on 950 E Madison Ave & 545 N Mollison Ave in El Cajon CA 92021 is the worst place to consider. These complexes have historically earned its nicknames like "Little Tijuana" due to local, long-standing community chatter, harassment, internet scam, Drug trafficking, and reputations for higher-than-average crime, noise, or transient activity. Recently most of the tenant who lived there for so many years have moved out due to indirect threats by the management who allowed certain families to move in and use certain set of rules to torture other residents who refused to leave.
